“Poor Margaery, they left her in a cell. She needs a shower and a coffee, I’m sure, by now.” — Natalie Dormer at the ‘Game of Thrones’ panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2015.

That’s the difference between being a 33-year-old woman and in your teens. You know who you are; you’ve gone through a lot of angst to feel comfortable with who you are. Then, for a while, you pretend you don’t care, and you still do. I think your early 30′s is a very empowering age for women. You get your priorities in the right order.

I couldn’t pick just one defining breakthrough role. I like to think that they’re all a part of me. There’s a part of my heart that forever has Anne Boleyn written on it, who I played in The Tudors. Equally, to some I will always be Margaery Tyrell from Game of Thrones, or Miss Julie who I played in After Miss Julie at the Young Vic.

I wouldn’t be upset about what people think of me. That’s rule number one of surviving in this industry: don’t care what people think. Just be true to yourself and be as pleasant and professional as you can. If you start caring what people think, you’re screwed.

I have some exciting news. There is to be a summit between King Francis and King Henry near Calais. I am to arrange it. That means you’ll have the opportunity to meet king of England. Mary and Anne Boleyn.

One of the cool perks about my job is that sometimes, now, I get recognized – I can skip queues at restaurants. I think the first time I got to skip a restaurant line was last year, when I was going out for brunch in New York, and people were left standing in the street to queue up. And I was like, “I’m actually skipping line. Sorry.”

Photographing Natalie Dormer is like shooting a wild, feral animal. She just looks badass. Sometimes, you’re shooting 18 people in one day, some of whom are actors who don’t like being photographed. But she knows how to move and to have her picture taken. - Tim Palen in Photographs from The Hunger Games (x)
