Rhaenys stood still, silent, her dark eyes fixed on the woman before her — the Queen who had once dreamed of being her mother. It was not the first time someone had looked upon her and seen a ghost, but it was the first time it had come with a kind of mourning that felt far too personal to belong to her at all. Cersei’s words, heavy with memory and a regret she hadn’t expected, slipped between them like incense smoke — lingering, sweet, suffocating.
She wanted to scoff, to laugh, to say how dare you. But she didn’t. The chamber was quiet save for the soft clink of Cersei’s goblet being set aside. Rhaenys’s hands remained by her sides, though her fingers curled slightly, nails grazing the embroidered edge of her sleeve.
Rhaenys said at last, her voice smooth but not unkind. “I remember stories of court, of dragons and fools, but not of the Lannister girl who held me in her arms.” A short pause. "But I was aware you wished for her place." Not an accussation. Everyone knew that her grandfather had slighted his hand by denying the Lannister name to join the Targaryen through her father. Her tone was not meant to wound — not truly. But she needed Cersei to feel the weight of absence too, needed her to understand that affection long unspoken holds little power now.
She stepped forward slowly, her presence quiet but certain, until there was barely a breath between them. “I believe you,” she said. “That you wept. That your father’s sins did not sit easily in your chest.” A pause. “But you were silent, weren't you? When my uncle Oberyn spoke of them and shouted to the Mountain.” The swqeet girl who had been taken her place, though Rhaenys bore scars of a hasty escape.
“You say I was beautiful,” Rhaenys murmured, not looking back. “Then perhaps you understand what it meant to leave me in a world that wanted me dead.” Her voice softened, not out of pity, but something more generous — perhaps the faintest echo of the child she had once been, trusting and unknowing. “But I survived. And I am not here to haunt you, Cersei Lannister. I believe we have bigger troubles than the throne. . .for now. If you will listen to me. . .pour another cup.”

From the moment Cersei sees her, she knows immediately who she is, that her declaration had not been a lie, as far-fetched as it had seemed. This is Rhaegar's little girl. There is no doubt in that. It should not be possible, yet she is here, alive. Grown into a young woman where once it was believed her years had been cut short. Cersei had always wondered what she might have done if Rhaegar's children had lived. Her father is the only one who ever wanted them dead, and even then, Cersei had not thought him capable of ordering such a thing. They were children. They were his. They should have been safe, but as long as Robert lived, they never would be. What is this, then, that she feels at seeing this girl again? Relief in knowing she had been whisked away to safety all along? Guilt in knowing there was nothing she could have done, that for all the ways she claims to have loved her father, she could not have saved his children?
All of it, truth be told. Far too many emotions mixing together as she downs another cup of wine. Cersei may have grown cold and cruel through the years, but back then her heart was still soft, and she wept when she heard what had happened to them all. Their fates have haunted her all these years, Rhaegar and his children. Even poor Elia, for it could have easily been Cersei in her place, had her father not fallen out of favor with the king. Then it would have been she who was murdered, her own children dead upon the floor. There is no use in agonizing over a day twenty years past, but it all feels fresh again with Rhaenys standing before her.
❝ I know who you are. You favor your mother, but . . . ❞ Cersei trails, her eyes falling away from Rhaenys, ❝ . . . you carry so much of your father in you as well. ❞ In her eyes. In the lines of her face. In the curl of her lips. She is so strongly Elia's that, outside of the platinum strand of hair, it would be hard to say she is Rhaegar's at all, but for those who knew him well, the resemblance is there in all of the subtleties of her features. It's enough to stir an ache within Cersei's chest, a pang through her heart that she thought had been long buried. But it never is. It always catches her, this loss of what could have been, and the loveless life she was damned to endure instead. ❝ You were always such a beautiful child. I held you often while your mother was bedridden, but I'm sure you were too young to remember. Your grandfather was not fair to you, but then again, Aerys always seemed to hate the things that gave his son joy. ❞

Rhaenys listened, but did not interrupt. She never did, not when it came to him—Jace, with his storm-wracked eyes and his voice heavy with things unsaid, older than he looked in ways that had nothing to do with time. She had learned how to hear the weight of pain beneath a warrior’s poise, and his was loud as a war drum.
"Then you understand it," she said softly, arms crossed against the morning chill, the sky above Dragonstone painted in firelight hues. “What it means to carry on because someone must. Because if you stop, if you let yourself feel, the grief would drown you quicker than the sea.”
Her lips tightened, just briefly. Not in bitterness, but in restraint.
She turned toward him then, the wind catching at her dark, Martell-inspired silks and the hint of dragon-black beneath. “Peace is fleeting. But we—those of us who remain—are not. You came back from death, Jace. I’m not foolish enough to ignore what that means. Not just for you. For me. For this.”
She gestured, not only to the war map before them but the cliffs and spires beyond the windows, the skies where dragons flew once more like omens reborn. “You say the reason is almost irrelevant, once a side is chosen,” she murmured. “Then let us make sure our side remembers what the cost truly is. Let us fight for those who can’t, yes—but also so that one day, we don’t have to anymore.”
And then, with something like a wry, sorrow-warmed smile: “No one wins in war. But perhaps… perhaps we can end it better than it began.”
Doesn't he know it? How peace can seem to be fleeting, there one day and the next? Your brother and sister are dead, and you are leading a war council for your grieving and recovering mother, swallowing your own mourning and letting it bleed into leadership. He would prefer a world devoid of war, has seen it eat away at those he loved until he, too, was nearly taken by the Stranger, swallowed by the sea, and mostly asleep - definitely not passed on, like his family, with his family.
Until he had awoken, alongside his dragon, and they had dragged themselves from the sea back to the shores of their home, where the one with the magic, with their blood, had brought them back, even if she had not meant to. He had pledged himself to her cause near immediately, once he had learned the truth, that over a century had passed, and this was his remaining family. He could not be killed, at least not by blade, though he had his suspicions about dragon's flame. Not suspicions he would rouse, but he would consider quietly, to himself.
"I have a great many things to fight for. But more for those who cannot fight for themselves. War is not a game, no matter how those who sit behind their armies believe it to be so." Those who sit the Iron Throne and bark orders without the fear of facing the battlefield, if truth were told. He does not wish to see anymore unjust death in this new lifetime. "The reason for fighting is almost irrelevant, once one has chosen a side."

Rhaenys stepped into the solar with the poise of one who had been raised among both sun and steel. It had once been her mother's. . .now tainted with lion and stags everywhere. The silks she wore shimmered with the deep red of House Martell and the black-and-gold dragon of her bloodline stitched subtly into the hem.
Her gaze, sharp as obsidian glass, swept over the room—lingering for only a breath too long on the lion seated by the fire. Cersei Lannister did not rise. Of course she didn’t. The queen regent—no, queen mother now—held her goblet as if it were a scepter, golden hair catching the last of the afternoon light
Rhaenys crossed the room with deliberate calm, the tap of her sandals echoing on stone. She stopped just close enough to be unsettling. "I do not bow to you and you do not to me. At least we agree on that.” For Rhaenys would be the heir and choice for the crown, if it where to pass back to Targaryen blood. "My uncle avenged my mother's death. And Robert Baratheon died and with him, my father's death." As much as she cannot forgive her father.
She is there for a purpose. Though she is not sure what that is exactly. "You know I am not lying about who I am. You saw me more than once. . .as a child." The single strand of silver hair remains on her hair. But she favoured her mother, unlike Aegon. @lannisther

rhaenys isn't sure she can trust dany. magic and her own visions tell her that she brought back dragons to the world and magic is making a shift into the world. but there is also rumors about her, and rhaenys keeps her distance until she proves them real or not. the biggest one is that some believe she agreed to the death of viserys , spoken to her by those who support her or the young boy calling himself aegon to the throne. this tension is bringing forth a new dance of dragons (which george said could happen). and she does not want this to be a final outcome that she is willing to support anyone else if that means no bloodshed for the time being.

Rhaenys stood with her back straight, her hands trembling at her sides. She had heard many things throughout her life, but this — this was nothing short of a cruel joke. Her father, sat before her, his expression calm, almost distant, as if the weight of her words would mean nothing in the grand scheme of his vision for the realm. His eyes were unwavering, the same regal certainty that had carried him through the long years of war and triumph. He spoke again, his voice a soft command.
Rhaenys could feel the room closing in around her. The weight of his words suffocated her, a steel band tightening around her chest. Peace. The word echoed in her mind like a mockery, as though it were some grand prize to be won by sacrificing her own desires, her own happiness. Joffrey Baratheon. The very name sent a sharp wave of disgust through her. The boy was everything she despised — entitled, petulant, and cruel. How could her father, the man who had once spoken of love and destiny, now demand this? Demand that she sacrifice herself for some fragile semblance of peace?
A bitter laugh bubbled in her throat, though it came out as more of a strangled sob. "You truly expect me to marry that spoiled brat?" Rhaenys's voice was icy, cutting through the tension in the room like a blade. "Joffrey Baratheon is nothing but an entitled child who thinks the world bends to his will. You want me to give myself to him in the name of peace? For a crown that was never meant for him, but for the likes of me?"
Her chest tightened with the sharp sting of frustration, her words venomous with resentment. "Is that all I am to you now? A pawn to play on some grand board of politics? Your peace, your kingdom, your throne, all at the cost of my soul?"
"I will not be used, Father," Rhaenys continued, her tone firm. "I will not marry a boy whose heart is as cold as stone and whose arrogance will be the death of us all. If this is the peace you wish for, then I want no part in it."

The words were noble, righteous even, but she couldn’t help the flicker of doubt that crossed her expression. A heavy silence fell between them. Rhaenys had heard those words before—spoken by those who sought glory, those who believed that war could be a balm for suffering. She had seen too much in her life to believe in simple solutions.
Her lips curled into a half-smile, one that was tinged with both wisdom and the scars of experience. “You fight because you believe it is the right thing to do. But fighting to shield others from fear, Jace, is not as simple as it sounds. Fear is a part of us all. It is not something we can erase with swords and promises.”
She stepped closer, her eyes searching his face, trying to gauge his resolve. "But I understand your heart," she added, softer now, almost a whisper. "It is a noble one." Rhaenys paused, then continued, "But understand this: the world does not owe us peace simply because we fight for it. You must be prepared to fight for much more than the absence of fear. You fight for the future, for the ones who cannot carry the burden themselves—and even then, sometimes, peace is a fleeting thing."

1. Arranged Marriages:
