I was feeling really low so I skipped ahead in my ROTPL Cynthia X OC "Pink is My New Favorite Color" and wrote this:
I sat in a chair backstage helping Buddy with his makeup. It had been decided we would do Romeo and Juliet “avant garde”, which basically just meant having complex eyeliner on everyone. “Buddy Aldridge, star of the school play, who would’ve thought?” I said. He laughed and replied, “I know, but this year… I feel like something happened to me. Like I’m finally in control of my own life”. “Yeah, I get it. Like there’s this whole different part of you that you never let yourself think about and now It’s all just coming out.” “Yeah.”
We stared at each other for a moment and I wondered if everyone felt this way. I wondered if Susan or Rosemary felt like they couldn’t fully be themselves. I wondered if we all were ourselves if we could all be friends. A world with no socs or pink ladies or t-birds. Just us. Buddy broke the eye contact saying, “I’m- I’m gonna go find Hazel and check my props.” “Yeah, I’m gonna go check on your Juliet” I said as I went to look for Cynthia.
We hadn’t really talked since our rehearsal at her house, so when I found her sitting in front of a mirror caking her face with powder I immediately felt nervous. “You know, It’s gonna take a lot of work to bring the life back to your face. I guess thats why they have me.” “I’m fine.” Cynthia said, applying more of the pale powder, not even bothering to look at me. “Here, let me help you” I said stepping toward her. “I said I’m fine!” She yelled, jumping out of her seat and running out of the room.
I ran after her and found her standing in a corner in the music room facing the wall. “What the hell Cynthia! What makes you think you can talk to me like that!” She turned to me and I saw a single tear slide down her cheek with more forming in her eyes. I immediately softened and stepped toward her saying, “oh my- what’s wrong?” I reached my hand out to take hers and she flinched back. “I gotta get out of here.” “What? This is your night. You’ve worked so hard for this.” She just looked at me, repeated “I gotta get out of here” then ran past me and out of the room.
I followed her out to the parking lot where I saw her speed away on her motorcycle. I thought about going back in to tell someone what happened but my body started moving to the street seemingly on its own. I needed to be with Cynthia. I finally reached her house and knocked on her door… to no answer. I knocked harder… nothing. I kept knocking until finally the door opened to reveal Cynthia, red eyed and with tear-stained cheeks. “I told you, I’m fine. Leave me alone.” She went to close the door but I pushed it back open. “No,” I said walking in past the threshold, “We don’t do that. You can do that to everyone else. Not me though. What is going on with you?”
She sat down on the couch and looked down at the floor, “It can’t be over”. It was barely audible but I still managed to make it out. “Cyn, I know you’ve started to like acting but I find it pretty hard to believe that you really love this in particular.” “It’s not about the stupid play!” She said jumping up from the couch and begining to pace around the living room. “This can’t be over. Us.” She said. I was so unbielivably confused. “You’re my best friend in the entire world, nothing’s going to change that. You-“ “Us. In this room.” She cut me off, “Practicing. Kissing. I’m sorry, I tried to just move on from this whole thing but I can’t. I know you were just trying to help me. But I… I liked kissing you. I never felt comfotable with the t-birds, even with the girls I feel like I can’t fully relax because I’m different and weird. But here, kissing you, I tried to stop it, but I just kept thinking, this is where I’m supposed to be.” I was stunned to say the least. All I could think to say was, “is that it?” She looked up at me, more tears streaming down her face. Silence.
I had just heard everything I’ve ever wanted to hear and yet all I could do was stand there staring in front of me. It was one thing when I belived my feelings wouldn’t be returned, but now that I know they are everything’s different. If I told Cynthia how I felt there would be no going back, I’d have to admit that I couldn’t be with anyone else. My entire life plan would be erased in an intstant; I would never be able to casually mention that I was in love to friends or family or complete strangers, I wouldn’t be able to get married, I wouldn’t become a mom. Everything I’ve ever wanted, completely gone. Part of me wanted to pretend I hadn’t heard what she said and we could continue being friends. But then I thought of living the perfect life I had dreamed up when I was young and realized none of it mattered if I couldn’t have Cynthia. I didn’t want to fall in love with anyone else.
After what seemed like an eternity, but was probably only a few seconds, I stepped foward and closed the space between us, wrapping my arms around Cynthia’s shoulders and kissing her for the first time for real. As us. Because we had feelings for each other.

Armour and Flower Crowns | Kit Tanthalos X OC Prolouge
When Violet was eight years old, her father was promoted to one of the head guards protecting the palace, having to move from the small open farm area where she grew up into the busy and crowded castle, Violet had to follow.
It was shortly after the move that the young girl started to explore the open area outside the castle. She would lie in the sun surrounded by flowers or try to talk to the birds. One day, she found a ledge that overlooked the beautiful landscape and decided to draw the breathtaking view.
She was sitting on the ledge, trying to capture everything she could while humming to herself, when two girls her age interrupted her.
“What are you doing here?” Violet heard someone ask from behind her.
“Drawing” she answered without looking up.
“This is our spot. We’re doing serious training.” another voice said.
Violet still refused to look up as she replied, “I was here first.”
“Do you even know who you’re talking to?” The first voice started, “This is the prince-“
“Stop! Hey look it’s fine”
Violet snapped her head up to see Princess Kit standing beside her with another girl. She scrambled to stand up and beg for the princess’s forgiveness, saying, “Oh my- Your Highness- I’m so sorry- I was just caught off guard and then I-“
“It’s fine! Calm down! The ledge is big enough for all of us. You’ll just stay here and we’ll go train over their” Kit said pointing to the other side of the ledge.
She and the other girl started walking over to their side when Violet asked, “What are you training for anyway?”
“We’re going to be knights!” The other girl said proudly. Violet doubted they would ever let girls be knights, much less the Princess but she decided to play along.
For the next few hours, the girls stayed on their respective sides with their respective activities. It wasn’t until the sun was starting to set that Kit said “Ok I need a break”.
“Woah. You’re really good at drawing” Violet once again snapped her head up but this time she realized the Princess was sitting beside her.
“Oh. Thank you.” Violet replied.
“I’m Kit”
Violet was confused, of course, she new who the princess was. “I- I know you’re” she started.
“I know, I know, but it’s just Kit” Kit said and Violet slowly nodded as she continued, “and that’s Jade” Kit pointed to the other girl who was still standing on the other side of the ledge.
“I’m Violet,” Violet said as she and Kit smiled at each other. Maybe Violet wouldn’t have to be so lonely anymore.
“I don’t like it,” Jade said. Violet wondered if she was always this blunt.
“My- my name?” Violet asked, starting to get the feeling Jade wasn’t going to like her.
“Yeah.” Jade said starting to walk towards the other two girls, “Jade. Kit. Vio-let. See it doesn’t fit.” She sat down in front of Kit and Violet before asking, “Can I call you Vi?”
Violet loved her name because it was her mother’s favorite flower. She wasn’t fond of shortening names in general, but she didn’t think Jade would let it go.
“If I said no, would it stop you?” She asked.
“No,” Jade answered.
“Okay,” Violet replied once again, thinking that she wouldn’t have these friends after all because Jade clearly didn’t like her. That was until she felt something touch her hand. She looked up to see Jade smiling at her and holding her hand. It was the first time she had smiled all day. After rethinking the day’s events, Violet decided that Jade wasn’t mean, simply headstrong. She smiled back and Jade’s eyes lit up in response.
Jade then grabbed Kit’s hand in her free one, and Kit grabbed Violet’s completely the circle. The girls spent the rest of their time on the ledge talking about anything they could think of; Kit told stories of her and her brother running around the castle and getting into trouble. Jade talked about her dream of being a night and protecting the kingdom and how she and Kit were going to go on adventures and quests across the world. Violet revealed that she wanted to be a dressmaker and make clothes for all the royalty in the land, which made Kit and Jade snicker, but they told her she could do anything she put her mind to, and they’d support her. When the time neared sunset the girls set out back toward the castle, hand in hand. Violet looked at her two new friends and then thought about herself, perfectly opposite, but somehow still perfect.
As the years went by Violet, Kit, and Jade became closer with every passing day. Kit continued to pursue her passion for knighthood by training with Jade while balancing her royal duties to appease her mom. Jade continued training with her guardian Ballentine and seemed to be becoming a very promising young soldier. Violet became an apprentice to the palace dressmaker, mainly repairing garments and slowly working her way up. Even with everything, the girls still managed to sneak away together when Kit would drag them on adventures, which were mainly them riding on horseback as far out as they were allowed to and having Jade and Kit spare, or when Violet would make them go into the gardens to gaze at the stars.

A question for the ROTPL community:
So, I’ve seen 4 separate people in the past week talk about how much they miss ROTPL and I know we all do, that’s not my question. But I always want to hear people talk about the show and there’s not much out there.
I’ve also been wanting to do something to give me a creative outlet since I’m always in the trenches trying to get a degree, so I was thinking about trying to do a podcast to act as another way to archive the fandom and let people talk about the show/ hear others talk about it even though it’s been 2 years since it was canceled.
So my question is: is there anyone who would want to participate in this? I have ideas but I don’t want to go into things if no one’s interested in participating or listening.

ROTPL Cynthia X OC Part 12
I found her sitting up against the back door, head down with her knees pulled up to her chest. I didn’t really know what to do, I don’t think anything could have made that better, so I just sat next to her and put my head on her shoulder. “Gil’s right. Why can’t I just act like a normal girl?” That is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. I sat up and looked at her, “Gil is not right. Gil has never been right about anything in his entire life.” She won’t look at me, instead, she just stares at the carpet in front of her so I continue, “Do you remember when we were 8 and some guy tripped me, making me fall in the mud and ruining my favorite dress?” Cynthia finally looked at me and laughed, “Yeah and I kicked his ass.” “You tried, I wouldn’t say you succeeded.” “He was two years older than us I had no chance! Why’d you bring that up?” “ Because I thought I’d make you laugh. And you at least tried to avenge me. And you’d do it over and over for the next 5 years. So screw Gil and what he said, you’re Cynthia, and you’re pretty perfect just the way you are.”
“Hey,” I heard a voice and looked up to see Jane, Nancy, and Olivia. Cynthia and I jumped up and Cynthia asked if Jane went through with exposing Buddy. “I couldn’t.” Jane replied “Why not? He just has to go down.” Cynthia asked. Jane replied “Well, that's just it. It wouldn't be him who goes down. It'd be Susan. He cheats on a test, he's cool. He smokes reefer, he's cool. He goes all the way with Susan, he's cool.” “And she's a slսt.” I realized. “Just like people said about us,” Olivia said, making eye contact with me and Jane. “I don't understand girls!” Cynthia suddenly burst out making us all look at her. “What? If Buddy did to me what he did to you, he'd be home crying to his mommy right now with a fat lip.” “Cynthia-“ I started before getting cut off by Olivia saying, “I should probably get home before my mom finds out I snuck out.” “But it’s barely 11.” Nancy protests. I go to stand by Nancy to tell her we could go hang out somewhere but Cynthia grabs my hand and pulls me in the opposite direction, “Yeah, let's make like a tree and leave. I don't want to see Gil's rat face either.”
Everyone stopped in their tracks when Nancy let out a dramatic groan, “You know, I was excited about coming to this party tonight because I thought we would all have fun, but instead, all any of you have done all night is obsess over stupid boys.” “Don't look at me,” Cynthia said. I let go of her hand and went to stand by Nancy saying, “You are not better than any of us Cyn, You spent the whole night obsessed with impressing the T-Birds... boys.” “Yeah, because none of you laugh at any of my jokes, and I'm hilarious. But I guess I'm too girl to be one of the boys and too boy to be one of the girls. I give up. I'm out of here.” She started to storm off when I grabbed her hand making her turn back around, “Hey, you do not need the T-birds, and you do not need the approval of anyone else. And I promise I will start laughing at all your jokes, even the unfunny ones if it means you’ll stay here with me.” She looked at me for a second before sighing and turning back to the group.
“Are you kidding? I've kissed every boy at this party.” Nancy said catching all our attention, followed by a chorus of “Huh? What?” From Jane, Olivia, and Cynthia. “Back in junior high, we had these parties all the time. Edith Ellen and I went to dozens. That’s where I met Ella and all those Soc guys were there. Kissing is fine. It's a lark. But the best part was creating a brutal rating system with your friends afterward.” “Ah, yes, I remember it fondly,” I said going over to sit with Nancy. “So... you kissed Buddy?” Jane asked “Like 15 times. Solid B minus. Just being honest. Now everyone takes boys so seriously. Just imagine how fun this party would be if we could go backwards, and do it all without boys.” We sat in silence, thinking about what Nancy had said. I thought about sitting on Cynthia’s porch talking about anything and everything, about petting Dot’s bunnies and rating all the candy her dad came out with last month, about designing dresses with Nancy and discussing books with Olivia-
“Yeah. Sounds nice” Olivia said, bringing me back down to earth. Cynthia, standing by the glass door to the living room and getting our attention, said “Hey. Come look at this.” We all stood by her and watched Neil and two of his friends pouring some sort of alcohol into Dot’s punch bowl. “This is really low, even for those bottom feeders.” Said Nancy. “Boys will be boys,” Olivia added sarcastically. “Maybe we can't prove that Buddy's not a good guy, but we can do something about these jerks right now,” Jane said, and soon enough our plan was created:
I would convince Neil to bring him and his friends down to Dot’s dad’s study where Jane and Olivia would be waiting. I found the key to the liquor cabinet and Nancy found the castor oil in the medicine cabinet upstairs. From there Jane and Olivia would get the boys to drink and we would make our escape, locking them in the study.
There was a loud pounding coming from Dot’s dad’s study; “Open the door!” “Let us out!” “What's the big idea?!” the boys yelled. “The idea is you spiked the punch with alcohol. So we spiked your alcohol with castor oil” Jane replied. “But don't worry, its a safe but effective dose” Nacy continued. “Let us out of here! It’s not funny!” They kept yelling. “You’re right. It’s not funny to put something in someone's drink that makes them lose control of their bodies.” Oliva said. Cynthia grabbed my hand and we all ran out of Dot’s house, but not before hearing Neil yell, “Let us out, you Pinko Tramps!” Which just made us laugh more. We had been running in a close group, arms around each other laughing, when we parted I was very aware of Cynthia keeping her arm around me.
Olivia was the first of us to speak once we were out on the street, “Excellent work, Pinko Tramps”. “The Pinko Tramps?” Nancy started, “Now that. Is a jacket” Jane replied “I mean why not? People already think we're such bad girls.” “We’re not girls, we’re ladies” Cynthia joked. We all laughed and continued on our trek home, all except Jane who stopped in her tracks and simply said “The Pink Ladies”. That stopped us all in our tracks. Jane, Nancy, Olivia, and I made eye contact and smiled before looking to Cynthia. When I turned to her we were a lot closer than I thought we’d be. We locked eyes for what couldn't have been longer than a second but it felt like an eternity before she looked away from me and toward the other girls, “I’ll think about it. On a trial basis.” We all laughed and continued on our way.
“So Jane, do you think a Pink Lady could become president?” Oliva asked. “I've spent so much time just trying to prove that I'm the good guy and Buddy is the bad guy, but I'm realizing that maybe sometimes, you got to be bad to do good.” “You know,” I started, “that's not a bad campaign slogan. For the leader of a girl gang.” Then it was Nancy’s turn for a great idea, “Anyone for stopping by the school?”
Once in the school, we got into the art room and got every pink marker we could find and got to work writing “vote pink” on every Buddy poster throughout the school. After doing my section of the hallway, I got into Ms. Mcgee’s office, grabbed a notepad and wrote “Sometimes you have to be bad to do good- Ella Bartlett”. Then we headed out. “Hey, what was that about?” Cynthia asked after walking the others home. “It’s Mcgee, she keeps blaming you all for things but then when I help or participate she says I didn’t do anything or that she couldn’t prove it. It’d be pretty hard to disprove my name written in my handwriting.” “You are the perfect model student; great grades, no detentions, you’re parents have money. They give more chances to people like you who fit the mold.” “I guess I fit it enough that I’ve been able to shove myself in the rest of the way. I had to. But being with you and Jane and Nancy and Olivia, I don’t want to shove myself into a mold anymore. I guess I felt like the first step to that was to get Mcgee to believe I could do something… unorthodox?” “Bad, you wanted to do something bad, stop using big words when you don’t have to.” Cynthia said making me let out a small laugh, she continued, “but I’m glad you’re here. With me.” We both stopped and looked at each other, making direct eye contact longer than I would normally feel comfortable with any other person. We have got to stop doing that, it gives me the strangest feeling.
I was the first to look away and I realized we had stopped right in front of my house. “Goodnight Cynthia.” I said as I started to walk up my driveway, “Goodnight Ella”. As soon as I entered my house I was met with my mom, “How was Dot’s?” How was Dot’s? Horrible. Amazing. “Fine. Friends. Games. Candy. Night!” I said running up to my room.
I sat there, in my bed trying to sleep but really just rethinking the past couple of days’ events: The drive-in, reuniting with Cynthia, Stealing Gil’s car, Cynthia grabbing my hand and dragging me out of the school, unintentionally getting the girls out of detention, Cynthia’s arm around my waist helping my walk, spin the bottle, holding Cynthia’s hand while comforting her, running out of Dot’s house laughing with all the girls, Cynthia’s arm around me,the pink ladies, Cynthia being so close to me. The Pink Ladies. Cynthia.
The next morning we were all called into McGee’s office. “I've decided that I have too much to do without having to keep an eye on you girls every day after school, so no more detention. You are all still being punished.” She first looked at Cynthia, “Since you showed such a flair for the theatrics yesterday, you're going to join the thespians so you can learn how to act like a lady.” “No way. Those kids have their heads so far up their own asses, I'm surprised they can walk straight.” Cynthia replied, horrified. Ms. McGee just moved on, “Olivia, you seem to enjoy filing, so I'm making you my office assistant. You can start with those. Jane, I got reports of you roaming the halls yesterday, so I figured I'd better give you this to do it in.” “A hall monitor? But everybody in school hates them.” “Good luck courting votes while you're writing tardy slips. And you.” She said addressing Nancy, “Well, I ran out of jobs, so you will help me out with whatever I need whenever I need it.” “Can we start with a wardrobe makeover?” Nancy said, making us all laugh, well, except Ms. Mcgee, “and Ms. Bartlett, since you’ve shown such an interest in trying new things, you’ll be spending your free period helping in the auto shop. And with that, you’re dismissed.” We all walked out into the hallway defeated.
“This is the worst day of my life,” I said. “Maybe I can change that,” Nancy said lifting her bag, implying the importance of the contents. “Yeah, what you got in that thing? A dead body?” Cynthia asked. “No. Even better. Come on.” She pulled us into an empty classroom and unveiled the Pink Ladies jackets. They were perfect and when we put them on I felt more like I belonged than I have in my entire life. We walked out into the main hallway and it’s like everything stopped, and for a moment it was just us. Like nothing could touch us. Invincible.

Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies Cynthia x OC Part 9
Chapter 9: Girl Gang
Word count:7.1k
After spending time at Jane’s drafting up a game plan for her student council campaign, I went home and straight to sleep, trying to avoid my parents questions as to why I got home later than expected.
The next morning I woke up to my mom screaming from the bottom of the stairs, “Ella! Phone!” Phone? For me? At, I looked at the clock next to my bed.. 5 am? On a Monday morning? I picked up the phone from my bedside table. “Hello?” I asked. It was Cynthia, “hey, mcgee’s been calling all of us this morning-“ “Hold on Cynthia wait” I heard a soft clicking sound meaning my mom was still on the line downstairs, “mom! Get off the phone!” The clicks stopped and I let Cynthia continue, “She’s trying rat us out for yesterday, just giving you a heads up, just try to intercept any calls.” I responded “of course, thanks, hey do you think you could just stay on the line with me?” “Sure” And so we talked for an hour, about anything we could think of. Occasionally we would run out of things so say and we would just sit in silence, comfortable silence, just to keep the line busy. Eventually my mom came in my room to tell me to get off the phone and get ready for school. I really wanted to fight it but I didn’t. Instead I just said, “Hey, Cynthia, I gotta go, I’ll talk to you at school” and hung up.
“You know it’s strange, I haven’t heard you talk to or about Cynthia in years and now, you’re spending hours on t he phone with her and I haven’t seen Dot in a week. Did something happen? Do you want to talk about it?” My mom asked. But before I could answer, the phone rang. I reached for it but my mom got to it faster. I after a moment she looked at me and yelled “She did what?!”
“You ran out of school and aided in stealing a car?! Where did I go wrong?” My mom lectured as a sat on the living room couch with my parents standing over me. Then my dad chimed in, “Believe me, there will be consequences… you’ll… you won’t… I don’t know, you’ve never done anything wrong before.” “Ella,” my mom continued, “ you’ve always been such a good girl, good grades, good friends-“ “Was it Cynthia? You know I always thought there was something off with her-“ I cut my father off, “there is nothing wrong with Cynthia! Everything that happened I made the decision too be a part of” “I just don’t know what happened Ella…” My dad stared at me with a look that made me so ashamed of what I had done, then I remembered how I felt with the girls yesterday, like nothing could touch me. I haven’t felt like people actually cared about me in the longest time. I felt a surge of confidence and said, “are you gonna punish me or not because I need to get to school.” Both my parents just looked at me with a shocked expression, I had never said anything even remotely disrespectful before. “Well, we weren’t going to, but if you’re going to talk back, you’re grounded for two weeks, only to school and back. And we’re taking the phone out of your room.” After my dad finished I simply stood up, grabbed my bag and walked out the door, off to school.
On my way to school I saw a man sitting on a bench finishing reading a newspaper. A newspaper that had the girls on the front page. He closed the paper and started walking down the street. I had no money on me to get my own copy but I needed that paper. I don’t know what came over me, I would normally never approach a stranger, but I caught up to him and said, “Excuse me sir, are you done with that newspaper? Could I have it by any chance?” He looked at me questioningly, “I’m an aspiring journalist and I just love to-“ he cut me off by handing me the paper, rolling his eyes, and walking away. I happily turned around and continued my path to school.
Once there I found all of the girls talking outside. “Look at who made the front page of today’s paper.” I said, everyone already crowding around me to try and look. "Vicious vixens perform vulgar acts before violently vacating the premises.” Jane read.
“Who wrote this? Mother Goose?” Cynthia joked. "Even more shocking were the ideas Ms. Facciano espoused in her manifesto-like speech.” Olivia continued. "To paraphrase Richard Nixon, speaking of his 1950 Senate opponent Helen Gahagan Douglas, she's pink right down to her underwear. They're calling us communists. This will sink my entire campaign.” Jane finished. “Maybe not. I mean, you made some really good points during your speech. They wouldn’t be trying to ruin you if they didn’t think you might win.” I chimed in. “It’s great press and it’s going to work perfectly with our new jackets” Nancy said pulling her new design from her bag. It was a black jacket with the words “black widows” and a spider on the back. The design and craftsmanship were stunning but the concept was, well, not it. “So, what do you think?” She asked. “Its.. violent..” Jane replied, trying to turn Nancy down gently. “Thanks! We’re the black widows. Nobody messes with us because if they do, we eat them for breakfast.” Oh. And the jacket comes with retractable fake blood coming out of the spider’s mouth. Fun. “I like it!” Cynthia said with the biggest grin on her face. Not helping. “Probably not the best way to convince people we aren’t vicious vixens.” Jane said. “Sure thing boss,” Nancy started, “Black Widows dead on arrival. New name pending.”
We all started to walk into the school when Cynthia stopped, “Hey thespians! Jealous we put on the most interesting show Rydell’s ever seen?” Then she stole one of their hats and threw it to a group of boys who kept throwing it around. “I’m so sorry about her” I yelled to them as she dragged me away. Once inside the school, we were immediately met with an angry Gil Rizzo, “All right. Which one of yo use is gonna pay for a new paint job for my car?”
Cynthia chimed in with “I could buy the hunk of junk for cheaper. Think of it this way, Gil: at least you finally got some girls in it!” She was met with a giggle from all the girls.
Gil muttered a “whatever.” “See the paper, boys?” Cynthia continued, "When's the last time any of you chowderheads made the front page?” “Congratulations.” Shy guy said, smiling at us. He’s sweet. Potato just had to throw in his tow cents, "Whoa, watch out, fellas. It's a girl gang. They might beat us up with their pocketbooks!” Cynthia started hitting him with the paper and chased him down the hallway, all of us following in a fit of laughter.
“Ladies. My office. Now” Miss Mcgee. Shoot. We all started filing into her office until she stopped me, “Not you miss Bartlett. You didn’t do anything.” But, I did.

Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies Cynthia x Reader Part 8
Chapter 8: Vote Pink
The next morning went as usual except I didn’t have any friends now. I had to walk to school and had no one to sit with in class most of the day. Right before our assembly for student council speeches Susan, Dot, and Rosemary stopped me in the hallway.
“Ella!” Rosemary called out, “We forgive you for what happened last night.”Dot continued, “you’re so important to us El, we don’t what to lose you just because of a small disagreement.” ‘Small disagreement’ right, because me not wanting to be a part of ruining someones reputation is a small disagreement. But they are my friends, and I know they do care about me. And I care about them. Then Susan spoke up, “Of course if you do anything like that again we can’t speak to you again.” Of course. “Sit with us at the assembly?” Dot asked. I can’t say no to Dot, she’s my best friend. “Of course” I replied. We went into the gym, I sat in between Dot and Susan, and we waited for the assembly to start
“I want to promise you all that nothing like the shenanigans of last night's pep rally will ever happen again. As the current class president, I take responsibility for that. I failed you. But know that because I failed you, I will work harder than ever to win back your trust.” Buddy was giving his speech, and honestly, I didn’t really believe him. I had always liked Buddy, but this week has changed how I think about so many things. Everyone around me then started to chant “let’s have fun like we did before, vote for Buddy in ’54!” Susan gripped my arm until I joined in. I always knew that it was bad if Susan was mad at you, but I didn’t know how bad it could be.
Miss McGee quieted everyone down and uncounted the start of the speeches for student council candidates. First up was Jane, but she told Miss McGee she didn’t want to run. That was until someone called her a slut in front of everybody and she ran up onto the stage.
“I just wanna say that I don't think Rydell was so fun for everyone before. It wasn't for me. And I know it hasn't been for a lot of kids who don't fit in for whatever reason, 'cause we're considered strange or the wrong type. The truth is that most people in this auditorium aren't popular. Some don't even want to be. We just wanna be ourselves but we haven't even gotten the chance to do that yet or to have fun. 'Cause we're too busy just trying to survive high school.”
She was perfectly putting into words what I had been feeling this whole week. So continued, “Maybe you've accepted that. Maybe you're used to things being that way at Rydell. As the new girl, I'll tell you, it's crap.” Miss Mcgee interrupted her, “Jane, if you're not going to run-“ “I endorse her.” I looked over to see Olivia Valdovinos walking up to stand with Jane. Then Susan butted in “You can't endorse her. She isn't running for anything.” “Well, maybe she should. I endorse her too.” Cynthia stood up and also went to the stage, then Nancy saying “me three.”
Everyone started shouting until Miss McGee hushed them and turned back to Jane “Now, Jane, would you like to throw your hat back into the ring?” “Yes.” She answered, “For president.” Woah. Her announcement was followed by more chatter and booing. Jane could make an actual change here; but I can’t support it with my friends. Everything following happened so fast. I looked back at the stage and immediately locked eyes with Cynthia. Cynthia, the realest friend I’ve had. I shifted in my seat. Susan grabbed my arm and whispered “if you say anything we will never talk to you again.” Honestly, I’m okay with that.
I stood up, shaking Susan’s hand off me and yelled “vote for Jane” as loud as I could. The 4 girls up front looked at me and Cynthia repeated “vote for Jane”, turned around, and pulled down her skirt, mooning the whole school. I immediately turned my head to face the other way, trying not to laugh as everyone gasped. When I turned back, the girls were running off the stage and were headed towards the door to the parking lot. Cynthia quickly changed course towards me, grabbed my hand and pulled me with them.
We ran outside and Olivia found the keys to the t- birds car (expertly hidden one top of the front seat) and hopped behind the wheel. We all followed, Jane jumping in the front seat and Cynthia pulling me into the back. I tried to jump over the car door but my shoe got caught, making me fall forward. Into Cynthia. We were both shocked, our noses touching and our eyes wide. I got a really weird feeling being so close to her. It didn’t make sense, we used to sit close all the time, its just what friends do. Maybe I just wasn’t used to being friends with her again. Olivia started to car and we all took off, snapping Cynthia and I out of, whatever that was.
“Holy smokes! What did we just do?!” Jane asked. “We just gave the best campaign speech in all of Rydell!” Olivia answered. “We just stole a car!” I said, the reality of the situation just now setting in. “And it was amazing” Cynthia chimed in. “And we looked great doing it” Nancy said. “What am I going to do? No one’s going to vote for me now.” Jane said, seemingly also regretting what we had done. “You have a great platform, Jane. The socs have been controlling Rydell for too long, people will like what you said” Olivia stated. She made a lot of sense, and people do love someone who breaks the rules. “You’re like a vigilante. Steal from the rich give to the poor type stuff. People like that. We can work with it.” I spoke up, running through different campaign strategies in my head. The Jane spoke again, “maybe you’re right. But I didn’t do this speech alone, I can’t do my campaign alone.” “The 5 of us together could really shake up this school” Cynthia said. Jane sat there fro a minute before saying the sentence that would change it all:
“We’re gonna need some jackets”

Rise of the Pink Ladies Cynthia x OC Part 7
Chapter 7: Frosty Palace
Ella’s POV
After ditching the pep rally I went to the frosty palace. I didn’t know where else to go, my parents expected me to be at the school and I couldn’t explain to the why I left. So here I am in the almost empty diner, drinking a milkshake and rethinking all my choices.
I know Susan’s just upset and is looking for any reason to be more upset, but how can you publicly humiliate someone like that? But what else can I do, they are the only way to get though the year.
The pep rally must be over because the diner starting filling with people, I really just wanted to go home at this point, so I quickly finished my drink and left. I had just managed to weave my way through all the people and cars when I ran into someone. They were running and the impact was hard, making me fall flat on the ground.
“Watch where you’re-“ I started to yell but then I looked up and saw Cynthia. “Oh- I’m so sorry!” She said frantically, trying to help me up. “Why are you in such a rush?” I asked. “Im just trying to get home.” She replied. “Me too. Rough night?” She nodded, “Yeah. After what happened at the pep rally, I-“ “what happened at the pep rally? I left early.” I guess something pretty big. “The t-birds said they would let me join them if I came up with a plan to get back at those stupid socs for embarrassing Richie… no offense, but your friends are awful.” She explained. “I don’t even know if they’re my friends anymore. Not after they wanted to embarrass Jane like that.”
After walking for a while I realized Cynthia and I should have parted ways by this point, she’s walking in the opposite direction from her house. “You don’t go this way.” “I’m walking you home” She replied. “You really don’t have to-“ “I’m walking you home.” Alright then. We just kept walking in silence. It’s so weird, we used to be able to talk for hours, talk about anything and everything, and now we’re struggling to find even one thing to talk about.
Cynthia was the first to speak, “so… are you caught up on the English assignment?” I just looked at her, that was the best she could come up with? She continued, “Look, I’m strapped for conversation here and you like books.” I laughed, “After Of Mice and Men, Animal Farm, and The Catcher in the Rye, Little Women is an amazing change. I’m on my third re-read.” I glanced over at Cynthia, she was just staring at me, smiling. “What?” I asked, “Nothing. That’s just very you.” I looked down, it’s weird, our dynamic is the same as it used to be but now I get this weird feeling when she’s around. She spoke again, “I didn’t mind it at first, I actually kind of liked it. Jo was cool, then she got into all that love crap, I couldn’t get through it.”
That conversation broke the ice and we were back to exactly how I remember us being. But eventually we arrived at my house. “This is me. Thank you, you turned my really bad night into a pretty okay one.” I said and hugged Cynthia. She tensed up for a second then hugged back. That feeling came back. I told her goodnight then started walking up my driveway, hearing a soft “goodnight” as I walked into my house.
I was greeted by my mom. “Was that Cynthia out there?” She asked. “Yes” I replied. “I didn’t know you two were still friends.” “I’m really tired. Im going to sleep, I’ll talk to you tomorrow.” I said, quickly walking up the stairs. Its not that I didn’t want to tell me mom what had happened that night, but it’s a long story and she just wouldn’t understand.
lying in bed I couldn’t sleep, all I could do is think. I couldn’t be friends with Cynthia again and keep my other friends, and they have been really rude the past couple of days, and Cynthia and I have always been great friends for one another. But Susan, Dot, Rosemary, and Pearl have been with me through the past 6 years, through everything. I don’t know what to do.
