Why do yuzu and karin have so much more scenes in the manga, holy shit I love Manga Karin XD
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This girl is so funny and the manga actually adds so much more than the anime, I honestly didn’t expect that. And Midori, poor girl getting threatened every other chapter XD
there’s little short stories of midori’s summer adventures while Ichigo is in the soul society and apparently yuzu and Karin terrorize her at school and during the summer she tries to avoid them as best as she can but because Karin is running around with the Karakura superheroes she barely goes outside XD

I was searching forums to find translated Q&As from Klub Outside and found out this precious piece of information!!
It truly seems like none of the Kurosaki kids ventured down the path of medicine/nursing, in the end. Ichigo became a translator, Yuzu became a hairdresser (suits her and the gorgeous hair she sported in the most recent illustrations of the twins) and if I had to guess, I’d say Karin became an athlete, a personal trainer or a PE teacher/coach. Maybe a physiotherapist.
There are many interesting questions being made in Klub Outside (laughed my ass off with Kubo saying Kenpachi would be the first to crash a car if the captains got a driver’s license and that he believes in the power of Masaki’s genes when someone asked if Ichigo got Isshin’s hairy chest). Alsoo, Hitsugaya and Momo are neighbours and he is the oldest of them two. He also achieved Bankai before even becoming a member of the Gotei 13, kid’s a monster for real.
Seriously wish I had the dough to get a membership and ask all the questions I have about Karin. 🥲 Probably wouldn’t ask any questions about HitsuKarin tho, the way Kubo answers wouldn’t soar with a romantic heart like mine.

A lesser-than-base Ichigo, an Ichigo gutted of all but a paper-thin layer of his power managed to crack Inoue's shield with one swing.
Tumblr media
Base form Yammy, using little more than pure physical force, cracked her shield with the poke of a single finger.
Tumblr media
Baseform Ulquiorra smashed her shield in one swing.
Tumblr media
Quilge tore her healing shield apart as a side effect of taking in reishi in general, he wasn't even aiming at her.
Tumblr media
The only two times her shields successfully block a direct attack is in Hueco Mundo when Ichigo tries to get up out of her healing shield and is knocked back - when he wasn't braced for it or putting in any effort to push through - and Ginjou with her blowback shield, when he was only playing villain and probably pulled the hit.
This failure was both well foreshadowed and inevitable:
Tumblr media
At the start of this "fight" Yhwach very performatively stayed seated for the beginning of it, then stayed in one spot after standing. Very pointedly stayed still and silent for long stretches while Ichigo tried to reach him and Inoue tried to stop and "calm down" Ichigo instead of providing her promised defense. Taunted Ichigo, thinking like Inoue did that he was unsettled and going berserk until he started using Zangetsu at a higher level, then got up and fought properly until he activated bankai.
Then he used his full power to break Ichigo's bankai, and then came this, the move to break Ichigo's spirit.
The last thing he thought he might be able to count on, a subconcious trust in Inoue's shield Yhwach had instilled through pretending to be stopped by it the two times prior to this she'd raised it, failing and Ichigo, completely unprepared, gets gored by it.
Every instance of Inoue blocking Yhwach's attacks in the prior confrontations was him setting her and Ichigo up to trust that shield at this exact moment so he could deal Ichigo a fight-ending blow.
Ichigo is shown to have fast enough counter-attacking reflexes that he shattered Kirinji's hand in the seconds of his punch connecting. He caught Ishida's arrow midair a hairsbreath from his torso and preventing himself taking the blow. He's shown a remarkable ability to dodge and weave around Yhwach's flexible shadow attacks.
But he doesn't dodge here.
The only reason is he let his guard down, and it was exactly at the most advantageous moment for Yhwach for it to happen.
This was as planned as the moment in the throne room when he got Ichigo to touch his sword to be able to infect him and use him as a puppet to kill the Soul King.
Was maybe even formed there as he saw that everyone honestly, erroneously, believed Inoue could heal the Soul King.
This was brutal and devastating for Ichigo, and left him wide open for Yhwach to tear out his power and cripple him properly.
It was also devastating for Inoue.
Her only goal was this:
Tumblr media
and the next time Ichigo takes devastating injuries body and soul:
Tumblr media
She can't do it. Tsukishima steps in and does...whatever, and she gets a token, offscreen involvement and then Ichigo leaves her behind without another word or letting her attempt to heal his physical body or replenish his reiatsu.
I really feel the both of them and their relationship fundamentally broke here along with that shield.
Ichigo was able to get up again because he's practiced at recovering from despair, but the person we see him trust and rely on most after this is Aizen, not any of his friends, and instead of doing anything the person he was up until this would logically do, he sticks his head in the sand and hides in his human life to avoid Yhwach's promised return.
Inoue never appears again except in an apron, retired from using her powers as anything but a baby monitor and entirely divorced from that ambitious, focused girl she'd been.
And their relationship is pretty distant and cold.
They share one panel together post-marriage and Ichigos face isn't shown, she's looking in another direction and they're drawn in two different styles - Ichigo full art, Inoue chibi. They do not share a single panel, aren't shown in the same room as or even floor of the house as the child they had.
Everything of their "romance" happens offscreen (and the descriptions of it are cold and clinical and vague and involve more of Ichigo putting the relationship off for years than anything about the relationship itself where Kubo gives anything at all). They are explicitly not happy for 10 years together because not one moment of it is involved in triggering the happiness needed to bring back Yhwach (Ichigo seeing Rukia is), and they aren't shown speaking or looking at each other with any of the affection or intimacy of an in-love married couple in the final chapter - not even in spreads or promo stuff outside the manga.

watching the TYBW arc and the writing is so shitty, man, i had forgotten how bad it was. ichigo being a quincy was such a stupid route to take, kubo dropped the ball into the underground with that one.
i dislike what he did to the quincies as a whole. their inital aesthetic and powers all went down the drain, all those senseless new powers and everything are just so far from what was introduced to us. he knew that, decided that “fuck it” and came up with all those lazy ass storylines and evolutions. the fact that he couldn’t develop what he had already created and instead just kept inventing things show how his writing skills degraded.
truth is: nothing can beat Bleach’s first arcs. when the fullbringer arc came around, it showed that things were unravelling poorly and that it would ger worse from there on, and it did.
when the epilogue came to be, i was so revolted with the ending, and nowadays i can see that it couldn’t be different; it kinda deserved to be bad. there was hardly anything that could save the story, coherency went to take a walk around the block and never came back so it had to end that way. and it had to end that way because kubo lost the guts to address the true villain that he set up all the way back in rukia’s attempted execution: the corruption and injustice in soul society.
it is a recurring theme throughout the story, sewed onto the plot of many different characters and by the end of the story everyone, including ichigo, who was casting light onto soul society’s issues or something similar that was said in the end of the fullbringer arc, complies to that corruption. i think kubo did it intentionally, after all he had the trouble to draw the sōkyoku hill rebuilt in the last chapter. the light novels that came after the end of the manga, hisagi’s to be more precise, keep expanding on this very issue with no solution in sight. kubo sentenced his creation to being mediocre (or great, if you are sadic enough) because it lacks the courage the fight its own system and address the flaws of they winners, which are the ones that get to write history. aizen itself wasn’t the disease, just a symptom of a very ill society. he wouldn’t have made so far like he did if all souls were cared for, not just the ones in the seireitei.
tbh, if you look from a certain perspective, Bleach can be great. in showing that happy endings don’t exist and that not all needed changes can take place in a world controlled by power, and even the best of people fail in making good prevail.
it could have been great, but it wasn’t. maybe kubo changed his mind with the direction of the story, maybe he was frustrated with how poorly Bleach was selling (his fault, let me say), or maybe the political climate of the time influenced him (almost a decade after the ending and it is even worse now)—to me, very likely. funny that in my head, i can say the name of two pieces that confronted the political systems set in their worlds, which are Fullmetal Alchemist and Attack on Titan, one who was written by a woman and another that was written by a man who took his work far more seriously than kubo and gave it a great ending (a sour one, but perfectly done).
anyways, thanks for coming to my ted talk.

Her sister’s top-tier navigational incompetence and a disastrously smudgy lipstick led Karin to a car window. Somehow, it escalated.
