Hitman And Her Stage DOr audience comments from Doug Kirby on Vimeo.
tickets.edfringe.com/whats-on/hitman-and-her Following the success at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe with the five-star show After Today, Stage D’Or returns with their latest work from acclaimed playwright Tim Connery. Donna Ryeman’s friend meets a hitman in a pub as she wants her husband dead. He is reluctant to accept, particularly as it seems that Donna Ryeman’s friend may not be 'all there' even though she has a certificate to prove her sanity. Will he take the job? What’s with the Post-it Notes? Why is the pub suddenly so empty? And who is having an affair with her husband?

hitman and her from Doug Kirby on Vimeo.
The EFC asked Stagre D'Or
1. Can you introduce yourselves and your play (Hitman and Her)?
HiI’m Doug Kirby, Director Technician, dogsbody over to the stars… Hi I’m Lou Kendon Ross I play Donna Ryeman’s friend and He’s Alex Dee the Hitman (Tim Connery is the Writer but he’s mute!) The Hitman and Her is about a desperate woman seeking a solution to her problem, her Husband she’s well connected but clueless. It's a Comedy Drama from the writer and team behind last years 5 star reviewed After Today (About Bill Grundy and that Sex Pistols Interview), like that at its heart it’s about a man being left behind by a world that has moved on. and a Hit.
2. What is the top reason people should see the show? We’re in it! well that’s one, Its a Comedy it’ll make you laugh There are lots of different aspects, layers, a bit like and onion. Yeah you should see it because its like an onion! Oh and you get reminded who all the Blue Peter presenters are, well the female ones anyway.
3. What would be a successful Fringe for you?
Well having an audience, who come in , enjoy the show and tell everyone else its a great show, but also tell us other good shows to go and see.
4. What 3 top tips have you got for Edinburgh Fringe first timers? Lou has to defer to Alex (a first) as she is a first timer her self. OK 1 Eat well, 2 Sleep well, 3 and remember its a Marathon not a sprint. Wise ords indeed Mr Dee.
5. The play is set in a pub. Do you have a favourite pub in Edinburgh? Lifting his Pint of what suspiciously looks like a well know stout Alex says he’s not sure he goes to Pubs. Having visited the fringe to see friends shows Lou recommends for Performers and crew Brookes Bar at the Pleasance Dome a Private club. Alex agrees and admits though he likes a pub during the fringe its more about the venue pop up Bars and Brookes is the best, though for Pubs a fun night out is Frankensteins is fun and for foodie pub goers and Dog lovers Grey Friers Bobbie, pour Theatre Dog Phoenix gives that the paws up as they brought her raw chicken down for dinner when she visited last year (not in the restaurant of course).
6. How is the build up to Edinburgh going? Are you feeling a buzz yet? Definitely feeling the buzz for our 2 London previews says Lou, Alex will probably be feeling the buzz from that pint in a minute! Yes the whole team is really excited we, line bashed early in June after script edits, but only really got around the table and on our feet miid July, so a solid 7 days rehearsing, some stewing time then a couple of runs before our previews and up to Edinburgh. Doug is Driving up with all the kit and the rest of us are having a train party (don’t tell Doug).
7. How are you promoting your show in the run up to the Fringe? (Feel free to mention social media accounts, pre shows, blogs etc)
So we repost what goes on the company social media sites and have sent out press releases, doing this sort of thing is great (Thanks The EFC), annoyingly our Social media tags or handles are a bit different but they’re based on Stage D’)r Productions and #HitmanAndHer or #NoNames Twitter: @Stage_DOr Instagram: @StageDOrProductions Facebook: @StageDOrProductions
Vimeo: Stage D'Or YouTube: youtu.be/IPmZQnwiIzQ
Our two Preview shows 27th July at @ChapelPlayhouse and 29th July @DraytonarmsSW5 is making some noise too. Then we’ll be posting around edinburgh and our Venue PQA Venues have been great too @PQAVenues
8. To paper flyer on the Royal Mile or not to paper flyer? - If yes to above : People who have done the Fringe before talk about the 5 second rule - where you have 5 seconds to engage a passerby walking past, from initial smile to flyer in hand. Whats your 5 second technique?
YES Flyer on the Royal Mile outside the Fringe shop, its a pain in a way but people go there expecting it, and you get great Instagram photo Ops. 5 second technique, well definitely yes, be open, know your show and what your catch phrase is, It’s a Comedy… great but were theatre not standup, OK so “It's a Comedy Theatre Piece about a Murderer…” No your catch phrase and how you might adapt it to different segment of your know audience profile (if you know it!). 9. Your play is called 'Hitman and Her'. Many will remember a TV show from the early 90s called 'The Hitman and Her' hosted by Pete Waterman and Michaela Strachan. Whats your favourite Stock Aitken and Waterman record (feel free to sing!).
Ahhh Michaela who needs the sound up… er thanks Alex um says Lou I think
10. Lastly do you want to tell us where and when we can see the show? Yes!
Thank you Alex yes, we are at PQA Venues in Riddles Court on the Royal mile (just beyond the Fringe shop on the way to the Castle on the left), at 5:50 (Daily except 7,213&20th) Also see our sister show from Writer Time Connery a Historical Comedy Drama “The Legacy of William Ireland” - The Great Shakespeare Swindle 4:30 same venue.
Many thanks!
