That long of a treadmill run is...not fun. But it got done and I'm only mostly dead.

Local greenhouse had a sale this morning - all remaining veggie plants were just $1! So now I have two more hot peppers and a mini watermelon in my lil garden. ☺️

The photographer we used last year (and loved!) moved to Florida this month (☹️) and I was not looking forward to searching all over again. But! She's coming back for a few weekends of mini sessions in the fall! You best bet I booked that shit right away - it even worked out with our travel/football schedules. I'm so excited. 😁

At the beginning of this year I started going to a weekly BodyPump class, following several years of precious little strength training. I could watch parts of the class when id run on the track at my gym - it looked like fun, usually has good music, and seemed like a good way to add some variety.
I did not realize how much of a difference it would make. (Slight weight talk under the cut, mostly just a novel)
Ive done a few 7 mile runs this summer. Historically, a 90+ minute run would leave me dead for the day and probably at least one after, hobbling around the house, etc. Yesterday, we went out to dinner right after I finished my run, and I did a couple more miles this morning. Like, obviously there's some fatigue and I'm not feeling fresh, but it feels less like I've damaged my muscles?
Losing weight is not a primary goal right now, but through 2024 there had been a slight upward trajectory on the scale for...quite some time. Like, several years. In 2025 it's been consistently trending downward, albeit Very gradually. (There are a couple of variables i can blame that on, but i have to imagine the training is one of them)(my doctor will be so proud 🙄)
And I just feel stronger. Which, duh, but it's cool.
I have never been good at writing or really even following lifting routines, and if I'm in the weight room by myself I'll go lighter than I probably should, and it just seems kinda boring so it just doesn't happen. This has me on a schedule, calls for lighter weight (with a Ton of reps), I just have to follow along with the instructor and it changes every few weeks.
Which is all to say, loving my BodyPump routine, highly recommend.

Adulting 1 - scheduled an inspection/quote for trimming the trees in our yard
Adulting 2 - saw they were running a promo, reached out to see if it applied to existing quotes (it did! Saved like $400!)
Adulting 3 - had trees trimmed
Adulting 4 - realized branch was uncomfortably close to power line still, so ACTUALLY CALLED THE PEOPLE! So they're gonna have someone come look at it and do some more pruning as needed.
I need you to know this whole process started in October so I have dragged my feet on every step of the adulting process, but it's getting done and that's what really counts.

I just had a successful round of Swimsuit Shopping 🤯 Just in time for a 90° cabin weekend.
I have a handful of bottoms that I like the fit of, but tops with decent coverage and even moderate support (for less than like $70) has proven to be a struggle. Last summer I used a sports bra, but the pool water isn't nice to that elastic.

Messed up the timing on my longest run for 2025 so far, such that I finished it at like 11:30. Summer sun is summering. 😅
Rinsed off my head with the garden hose when I got home and that felt way better than it should have.

Spent a couple hours this morning at a trash pick up event with friends - we were assigned a site on the bay shore so we had beach/bog/rocks. And in just under 2 hours picked up 17(!) Pounds of trash! Plus a bunch of lumber that wasn't supposed to be out there!
#my friend is an environmental engineer so we get involved in these events sometimes#i feel very accomplished and now will accomplish nothing else today 😅
