Obi-Wan wears like 53 layer of robes so everyone assumes he’s kinda soft especially compared to his ‘in the prime of his youth’ former Padawan but then one day he goes shirtless to spar and he’s shredded, he has an 8 pack. Clones and Jedi alike are choking on drinks and tripping into walls. Ahsoka is covering her eyes and screaming because that’s basically her grandpa. Anakin has to throw a robe over Obi-Wan like The Birth of Venus.

I think everyone who complains about the existence of queer people in comics should read this letter to the editor in a Green Arrow 1988 comic and shut the fuck up

THE ENTIRE WEST IS BEING PUT UP FOR SALE AND I AM BEGGING YOU TO CALL YOUR SENATORS

Trump’s budget bill has many, many things in it, but buried amongst it is the MILLIONS OF ACRES OF PUBLIC LAND FOR SALE.
This is the entirety of the Arizona state forests, the entire Cascades mountain range. Swathes of pristine desert around the national parks in Utah. On the doorstep of Jackson Hole.
THIS BILL IS BIG, BUT IT CAN BE AMENDED AND ABSOLUTELY MUST NOT PASS AS IS please.
If you have ever enjoyed the wilderness, we stand to lose it all forever.
CALLING your senators - NOT JUST IN THE WEST. ALL SENATORS, is CRUCIAL.
Outdoor alliance has a great resource for reaching out.
I don’t have a huge following but please, everywhere I have ever loved, the forests I grew up playing in, the land I got married on, is all at risk and I am begging.

you guys know you can get USB connectable CD, dvd, and blu-ray players right. and you can buy external hard drives with crazy amounts of space for an amount of money that would make the average person from 2009’s head explode bc of how cheap it is. and if you do this and get ripping software such as handbrake for CDs and DVDs and makeMKV for blurays you can both own a physical copy of whatever media you want and make it accessible to yourself no matter where you are. do you guys know this

By using antibodies from a human donor with a self-induced hyper-immunity to snake venom, scientists have developed the most broadly effective antivenom to date, which is protective against the likes of the black mamba, king cobra, and tiger snakes in mouse trials. Described in the journal Cell, the antivenom combines protective antibodies and a small molecule inhibitor and opens a path toward a universal antiserum.

Curious Archive’s newest video about the cultural history of unicorns draws a connection between the huge market of selling “unicorn horn” in sixteenth century Europe and the modern presence of the unicorn as a commercialized symbol across unicorn stickers and unicorn toys and unicorn breakfast cereals and comes to the conclusion, “From the moment we first captured the unicorn, we’ve been selling it”
And I had to stare at the wall for a bit

Just FYI, most challenges, for decades (and many of them still do now) have had sign ups and info posts on dreamwidth, as Tumblr is a shit platform for keeping track of important posts. And often times it is combined with that people use various sign ups like airtable, Google forms, or dreamwidth comments
Modding is hard, it takes a lot of time and effort. Setting up rules, coming up with prompts matching people (for exchanges) and checking on on participants (mostly for exchanges) and finding pinch hitters.
Having the links in the pinned post is fine, it has all the info in one area, on the official profile for the event. Mods have enough to worry about (this coming from someone who ran a reverse bang for two years, year one over 200 participants, and over 500 the next year) and many other more minor events.
If you think you would like an event run/organized in a different way, you should think about running/modding your own event so you can have it run in a way you like.
It's in our bio, but we do want to let people know that we are also on bsky! @ / jayvikhcweek.bsky.social
We will not be opening up a strawpage or carrd for this event because we are two guys with fulltime jobs running this event out of passion for free and we simply do not have the time curating a multitude of platforms. We want this event to be as fun and laidback as possible!
#dont be a fucking bitch#fandom is fun#fandom is free#abd it takes a lot of people's time#just be nice

According to the company’s website, “Baking Pitchfest 2024” offers a product edition geared toward baking brands founded and owned by people of color across the U.S., and a bakery edition, which focuses on people of color-owned bakeries in the Northeast and Washington state. “Half mentorship, half competition, Baking Pitchfest is an accelerator program designed to foster greater inclusivity and creativity in the baking world by providing equitable opportunities for People of Color entrepreneurs,” the website states, adding that winners will receive financial support, mentorship, and exposure. But the initiative has generated outrage amongst conservatives online, who have blasted the competition eligibility rules as discriminatory against white people.
One X user critical of King Arthur Baking’s contest posted an email she received from the company in response to her complaining. “Helping build joyful, equitable communities that celebrate diversity is an important part of who we are as a company,” the email states, later adding: “We love baking with anyone and everyone. Our simple expectation is that everyone show respect for one another.”
