Dropping
[ I know. I feel really bad for doing this, but I realize that I’ve fallen out of my passion for roleplaying and have picked up other hobbies. My school load has also begun to increase, and I don’t exactly have the time or want to continue a RP blog.
It’s been really fun here. Thank you all so much for such a fun time here. ]

Deirdre opened the door to her cottage. “At least I clean frequently enough that any dust won’t be thick enough to trouble me… As you can probably guess, Altena, living in a forest does not make for a clean home. Not without work, at least.”
She used a simple fire spell to light a candle on a table at the center of the room. “If you need to stay the night, you can use the bed on the far end of the house… I think you said that you are not that hungry, but if you are, would you let me at least serve you what I’ve gathered and grown? You’re my guest, after all.” Deirdre wore the face she occasionally used when she bargained with merchants.
Altena followed Deirdre’s directing, nodding as Deirdre went along. She followed her into the cottage, glancing around when Deirdre lit the candle and the fiery light illuminated the interior of the house.
She shook her head. “Please, do not worry about me so much. Your hospitality is enough already, and the first matter of business is taking care of your sickness.”
Altena glanced outside momentarily. The rain clouds had gathered overhead, and it looked like it could start pouring any second. “Did you want anything to eat? I can make you something if you want.”

Mitama frowned, stepping around the mirror to inspect it. She stood not in front of it, so she could not see exactly what the woman saw, but there certainly was something…off about the mirror. “…It would not be wise to leave something that could pose potential danger untainted like this, would it?” She asked, more to herself than the other woman.
Her father would likely just leave it, but he was a poor example in most things.
Altena watched as the other girl stepped around the mirror in an attempt to inspect it. She heard the gentle words murmured under the other girl’s breath, and raised her eyebrows.
“Should we perhaps move it outside?” Altena suggested. “Unless you are alright with seven years of bad luck.”
Altena approached the mirror once again, gently running a hand along the intricate frame of the mirror. That something that was off—she had almost no clue what it was, but she only hoped that it was not something that would haunt her. For her own safety, she drew her hand away from the mirror and let it fall by her side.

“It’s lovely,” Micaiah stated, wondering if Altena had been waiting for her comment, “I like the way the sunlight streams inside from the windows.” Upon careful inspection, she noticed the stained glass windows appeared to be depicting some sort of story, though she was not familiar with the tale. Perhaps it was one unique to this nation.
“Everyone seems to be working so hard. I don’t think I’ve seen so many weapons on display before. Many of Daein’s weapons were used in the war. What we have left is necessary to properly equip the soldiers. I hope Daein can prosper like this, someday.”
“I’m glad you enjoy it,” Altena stated, smiling. “Indeed, the windows are quite integral to the castle’s design, as the sun is our main light source. Natural sunlight has always been something we, as Thracians, have learned to harness due to the harshness of it in our country.”
She surveyed the bustling activity of the hall as Micaiah spoke again. Altena’s eyes rested on the weapons along the wall, and stayed there when she responded.
“Indeed, they are for display, but unfortunately, they are all to be used if our mercenary force is ever needed. I can only hope that, with the new Empire, we will not have to take up arms so soon.”

Miranda felt her cheeks renewed with a sense of warmth. Did he truly? Miranda felt conflicted within her being. Lord Leif had been her friends since they were children but was it right to put her so quickly on his court in this manner? What did this mean?
“Um…did Lord Leif say anything anything about me? Why he specifically wants me on this court?” Miranda began to feel as if she were shrinking, feelings of anxiety brewing inside her.
“Of course,” Altena responded.
She watched as a faint flush slowly overtook Miranda’s cheeks. A creeping sense of amusement began to develop in her heart as she connected the dots. Oh, the poor girl was in love—oh so deeply in love.
And her next questions only confirmed the hypothesis Altena had developed.
“Leif?” she questioned. “No, nothing quite specific. He said that you were an old friend, and that he trusted you, but other than that there was nothing else.”

“With that regard, then we are very similar,” The silver-haired maiden replied, hoping to gift a small token of comfort to the princess at the very least, “though I am royalty by blood, though not of Daein royalty, I grew up as an orphan. After my caretaker had passed, I spent a great deal of time alone before I became a freedom fighter. It wasn’t long after that I ended up becoming a general. It was…difficult, to say the least. It was not a position given to me by merit. I struggled. It was only my visions, that allowed me to succeed.” She explained, recalling back to the time Pelleas had first requested her to be his general.
“I see...” Altena murmured in acknowledgement of Micaiah’s words.
Micaiah seemed to have gone through quite a bit of transition in her life... an almost startling amount. Altena had seen others who had gone through that much transition who did not live to be as calm and collected as Micaiah was. Her specific example of not being royalty of the country she now ruled, but of another country... the very example made Altena remember her own circumstance.
Altena shook her head to clear herself of her thoughts. “My apologies. I did not mean to keep you.” With that, she pushed open the wooden door frame to the main hall.
The ceiling rose high above their heads, and sunlight leaked into the room through the stained glass windows. The floor was lain with a single lush green carpet down the middle and was dappled with the light of the sun, the golden embroidery upon the carpet glimmering. Servants bustled about, rearranging the weapons lined along the walls and sweeping the floor.

She had not expected to find anyone here so far below the party. She supposed it was useful, as she required the aid to return to where she once was, but such a violent reaction was unexpected.
“Pardon me, I did not mean…” Mitama paused, glancing past the woman curiously. “What were you observing?”
Altena let out another breath, placing her hand on her heart. “No, I am sorry. I did not mean to react so violently. My apologies,” she apologized.
She turned to look at the mirror over her shoulder when the other person glanced past her curiously.
“Ah, I was observing this mirror.” Altena gestured to it. “I... Perhaps it was my eyes playing tricks on me, but I could have sworn I saw something in it that did not reflect my surroundings, similar to a haunted mirror. Although, again, it was most likely my imagination.”

“I bear no weapons, and mean no harm. I was sent here, to live out the rest of my life in peace.”
That’s all he truly wanted. Somehow, he survived. Be it the will of the gods’, Fate, or some cruel joke on behalf for all he has done, Julius lives. To the world, he would remain dead. But for the rest of his days, he would remain here high in the Thracian mountains, alone. One last gift to him, in a world that robbed him of everything else.
Altena did not feel surprise when she heard the softness in his voice, the gentleness in his intentions. He had been possessed, used, manipulated, all for Loptyr’s evil schemes.
“...I believe you,” she murmured softly. “The Julius that Princess Julia often spoke of during our times together after the war... you are him.
“You are a gentle soul, Prince Julius,” she continued, her voice almost inaudible now. “I am sorry. For this unfortunate fate you have been forced to take on.”

📷?
📷 - You’re not sure how you ended up wandering so deep into the castle, but now you’ve found a strange mirror deep in the basement. It seems to show you but…something just isn’t right?
Altena frowned. The mirror was certainly… strange. It had to have been hidden away in the basement for a reason—perhaps it was the strange feeling she could feel in the pit of her stomach. She stared at the mirror harder.
Something was there behind her… Or rather, someone…?
“Ah!” she yelped when she felt a hand on her shoulder. She jumped and whirled around before letting out a sigh of relief. “Please, don’t scare me like that…”

Miranda knew little of courtly affairs and such, she recalled how others would think her less for her lack of discipline. They were not entirely wrong, but that is the case for good reason.
Princess Altena is a superior candidate. Graceful, elegant, with the might to prove it. She can rally the Thracians to her side much easier than anyone in the North could. Or really any other candidate, herself included.
Altena smiled sadly. Princess Miranda seemed so unsure of her own abilities. Altena had heard the extent of what she could do from Leif himself, in the letter that had sent her here in such a rush.
Princess Miranda’s eyes glazed over, clearly deep in thought. Altena did not know what was eating at Miranda so, but she had an idea. Her sad smile only grew.
“Princess Miranda... you doubt the extent of your own abilities. Truth be told, I requested that Leif not add me as a part of his court. I... I did not know if I could return to the realm of politics so easily. I have always been known for my words in a country of weapons, but they can only do so much. Leif believes in you. If he did not, he would not have put you up to this task, no?”

“I have a lot to learn about wyverns, clearly!” Deirdre hoped that her tone conveyed that she was not offended by Altena’s words. “Well,” she sniffed, “we’ll have time to talk while we’re settling in at the cottage.”
“If you’ll follow me?” Deirdre walked on ahead, her normally sure feet struggling to navigate the shore.
She turned around to face Altena, apologetic. “This may take longer than I thought…”
Altena nodded. “If it’s what you choose.” She laughed then. “Please, do not worry yourself over the mounts of my homeland. They are gruff and care not what you know—only what you show.”
Her wyvern let out a growl, and she rested a hand on its snout. “Brutes,” she said laughingly, and her wyvern nuzzled into her hand, “but also the best companion one could ask for.”
Altena fell into step with Deirdre, offering her arm. “No, it’s alright. Please, use my arm if you need support.”
They continued through the forest, idly chattering as they passed through the trees in a trek towards Deirdre’s home. Between the gaps in the trees, Altena saw a flash of brown and she blinked before pointing.
“Deirdre, is that your cottage?”

The Liminal Castle!
The Liminal Castle is open to all, but Halloween always seems to bring something strange to life…
The Castle:
👻 - Many wonderful shows had graced the castle’s private theatre, a wonderful spectacle for all. But there’s rumors of a ghost wandering the theatre at night…Why not investigate? 💃 - The ballroom is filled with the sounds of music and people dancing the night away. Why not grab a partner and join in? 🎥 - Many mages worked hard to figure out how to bring life to still pictures, but they did it! A little too well…You find yourself trapped in the movie playing on the screen! (Sender specify the film) 📷 - You’re not sure how you ended up wandering so deep into the castle, but now you’ve found a strange mirror deep in the basement. It seems to show you but…something just isn’t right?
The Courtyard:
🍎 - Throw food at someone. Go on. Do it. They probably deserve it. 🍄 - There’s something strange about the taste of this treat, but you just can’t put your finger on what it is…hang on. When did everything suddenly get so big? When did you get so small!? 🍸 - Share a drink with a friend. Or sabotage someone else. How many drinks do you think they’ll need before they start doing some stunts? 🍇 - What’s Halloween without some candy? Luckily, the best candy maker in the kingdom is here with treats for sale. You should try some! Share with a friend.
Into the Woods:
👀 - You can feel the eyes of something following you in the woods. You aren’t sure what it is, but when it finds you, there’s no denying that it’s hungry. (One muse is a vampire. Or neither! Go hunting.) 🐺 - The howls bounce against the trees, and you can hear the sound of something running. It’s big, and fast, and most definitely coming for you. (One muse is a werewolf. Or neither! Go hunting.) 📖 - You find a strange book just sitting there in the woods. Someone must have dropped it. But when you open the book, it’s clear by the surge of power you feel release from it that this is not some ordinary book. - Strange things are said to happen to people lost in the woods. You didn’t expect to see the ghost of someone you know there.
The Gardens:
🐟 - There’s something splashing about in the fountain… It definitely doesn’t look like your average fish. Maybe you should get closer and take a look. ⭐ - It’s a beautiful halloween night. The sky is clear and the air is warm…there’s nothing like sitting back and looking at the stars. Aren’t you lucky to have company for it too? 🔥 - Halloween is all about scary stories. Why not take a shot at trading a frightening tale, see just how spooky you can be. 👗 - Oh no, it looks like you’ve found a tear in your halloween costume. Hopefully you can fix it before it gets any worse.

And better at it than her. At least there were no kids around right now, she didn’t think them bouncing around while she was stuck in the middle of it would help her very much. At least she was comfortable. And at least the webbing made for interesting views.
The sound of feet crunching on sand caught her attention. Setusna tilted her head back as much as she could manage to see who was making their way over. She blinked at them. “Oh, hello there.”
Her trek through the park had been meant for a slight respite from her workload. A figure caught her eye as she crossed through the park, and she took a few tentative steps before the person turned and greeted them.
Altena blinked. She hadn’t expected for the person to turn and speak with her. All she had meant to do was stare at the strange object in their hands before shrugging and turning away.
“Hello,” she returned the greeting, taking another step forward. Her dog resigned itself to the fact that its owner was going to be in a conversation and plopped itself down on the sand in the park, licking at its fur. “Can I ask about what you’re holding?”

What she was doing here Julius did not understand. He had no idea what to do now? She didn’t seem to be here for any nefarious purpose, and to his knowledge no weapon on hand. With a heavy hesitance in his mind, he stepped out into the open.
He could see into her brown eyes her confusion, thankfully no tint of disgust or hatred toward him.
“Yes….”
What was she planning to do?
It was him. One word was enough to determine that. He was alive, despite everything that had been reported.
“...I see,” she murmured, and slowly dismounted from her dragon. It glanced at her with concern, and she gently pet its head. Slowly, she approached the tree. She didn’t want to scare him. Gently, she leaned against the tree, where Prince Julius was presumably behind her.
“...Why are you here?” Altena questioned softly.

Nodding, the silver-haired maiden followed along with ease, looking around with genuine interest. While Micaiah had never been comfortable with the lavish lifestyle wealth fostered, she had always appreciated art and found the architecture to be incredibly pleasing. She had been gazing upon the ornately crafted woodwork of the door frame when Altena turned back towards her, expressing a hope to develop a friendship.
“We do? How so?” Micaiah asked, raising a hand to her chest, “to tell the truth, I don’t know much about you. I guess a lot about me must have traveled this way by my title, hasn’t it? That feels so strange to me. Prior to all of this, I was just a traveling fortune teller, and now…a queen.”
Altena laughed. “Of course. It is often hard to believe others can relate to one’s experiences.”
She paused, resting a hand on the wooden frame of the door leading into the main hall and listening to Micaiah’s words. Altena smiled bittersweetly, beginning to respond.
“Indeed. That unfamiliarity you are expressing with royalty... it is a feeling that has long inhabited me. Although I was raised as a princess, I... I became confused. I believe... we have very similar experiences in that we feel very unexperienced in our positions.”
Altena had to say, she had never been able to open up about her inexperience so easily to someone who was almost a stranger.
