"men" don't need to be "weak" (aka emotional as sim makes very clear he thinks weakness means being emotional and is an innately womanly thing, cerebus's conflict over his identity as a cisgender straight man being challenged can be conflated with him wanting to be emotionally open and vulnerable. sim is an objective misogynist but he's still the villain here in a metatextual sense as the actual god who continues to torture cerebus and deny him the opportunity to grow.)

also here he is engaging in direct homophobia. directed at himself. when god is objectively real and his doctrine is full of shit like this and you're literally in space attempting to ascend to meet him the misogynistic attitude of the world is within the fiction obviously more understandable as a mindset where there is irrevocable proof that a higher power who supports these beliefs exists, and that extends to sim too as the "real" god and objective creator of everything here. cerebus has conflicts about his cishet masc identity being challenged because it goes against everything he's been raised and understood to be "correct" and he's run away from it/ignored it consistently rather than actually deal with it and now he has to forcibly confront and discard these aspects of himself which is, obviously, impossible. he can get hard seeing a naked big hairy dude literally named bear. he can be "feminine" which to him and the world itself means being emotional to literally any degree. he's an individual who does not fit into this impossible fictional mould of the warrior barbarian tough guy who only loves money. that isn't him and it never truly was. but he never gets the chance to change for the better or embrace the parts of him the world says are wrong when they really aren't because god, the real god who writes him, simply won't allow it.
