i'm currently in the midst of researching a bunch of interviews for an upcoming post but the fact the interviewer just wrote about jamie basically not answering any of their questions is fucking hilarious.
Cook isn’t so sure about his status as keeper of the flame. “I think everyone is like that in the his band,” he says. “Everyone’s got a bullshit detector in them.” The guitarist is affable company but there is a sense that he doesn’t enjoy talking about any of this. He doesn’t ever think about why the band never had any troubles, no. He doesn’t have anything to do with social media, no. He doesn’t get nervous about putting out a record, as long as everyone who’s made it is into it, no. What did he learn from making this record? No idea. Not really this, not really that, you know, not really. He states that they all have other interests outside the band, but can’t say what they are. “We don’t need to talk about personal stuff, if that’s alright,” he says, erecting a large no-entry sign.

A collection of quotes concerning the character of Longlegs, and how Cage's performance and appearance was developed. I think the first one is the most interesting because it shows that gender non-conformity was in fact a part of the process for Longlegs. Important parts have been highlighted.
Tagging people who I've seen talking about the coding of Longlegs:

i think the most interesting thing to me about ellies character is the fact you see her not just losing everyone around her but also herself. in seattle, you can see her slipping, after her small outburst (don't know what to call that) with dina she notes in her journal that her mask is slipping and it's becoming obvious she isn't okay and shes not keeping herself together. even questioning if dina trusts her, or if she trusts dina.
she gets a little sloppy with her killing, admitting it was dumb to kill whitney. two of her kills break her own morals, both making her mental health spiral.
at the farm, she isn't even living her own life. she's holding onto what she thinks joels life would be. a sheep farm, farther figure to someone, and his wood sculptures and pictures still hang around. she even wears his clothes. she's still holding onto a ghost, and that's what makes her leave her own lover and son.
and once she finally lets go, she only has herself.
#never saw farm ellie in this perspective#i know for a fact there were a lot of odd things in there. in Ellie. but not like. trying to keep something of joel alive by the way that#she lives#which makes sense. happens in grief#if i ever were to lose you id surely lose myself#ellie#tlou*
