oh absolutely not, if you're being executed during the french revolution you'd probably have to share the spotlight (and the bloodstained gallows) with a bunch of other people, and you can't be certain that the guillotine will be well-maintained. not to mention the crowd probably thinks you're a total loser who deserves whatever you get. i'd rather be a disgraced noble in the 15th or 16th century so that i'd be beheaded by sword by the court executioner, who would have to grant me the cleanest, swiftest death possible since his reputation would be on the line. if i handled myself well, i could reclaim some of my honour for my courage in the face of death, and be remembered sympathetically by historians who want to fuck me so bad it makes them look stupid.
