We need to think about how we model healthy relationships for the next generation.

Marriage is more than just something you do at a certain point of your life.

A partner is more than just someone that seems ok and has their life together.

You don’t get married because it seems like what everyone is doing.

Don’t ignore red flags because well, maybe they aren’t so bad, they’re going to quit drinking, they just need emotional support, it will get better.

If they aren’t hitting you it doesn’t mean it’s not abuse.

You know they wouldn’t yell at you if you just took their side more, or did the dishes, or put their laundry away, or agreed with them more, or stopped correcting them, or came straight home from work instead of hanging out with your friends.

There’s never a good reason for someone to yell at you, especially if you’ve told them you don’t like being spoken to that way.

It’s still abuse.

When you get home and they go through everything you bought at Target because how could you spend $50, but refuse to limit or explain their own purchases, it’s abuse.

When you are out Christmas shopping for them and their family members and they call you and scream at you for overspending and make you return gifts that you bought, it’s control and abuse.

When they require access to your body regardless of what you say or how you feel because you are married, that’s abuse.

When they apologize for their actions and explain that it was all an accident and not their fault and you disagree but they stick to their version, that’s gaslighting.

When they lock you out of your house for no reason that it becomes a regular occurrence, that’s abuse.

When you make excuses to your friends and coworkers for their constant phone calls and need to know where you are, that concern you’re deflecting is real.

We need more than one per year, but the winds are definitely starting to change. Three very different heroines, with very different skill sets, with very different approaches. As a bonus, Holtzmann’s team was made up entirely of other women.

I don’t know why so many people get hung up on “understanding” different sexualities. People are always saying, “I don’t understand bisexuality. I don’t actually think its real.” And honestly its like, I don’t understand physics but that doesn’t mean I think it’s nonexistent.

I’m super bemused that some of the SW: TFA shippers are concerned over the age gap between Poe and Finn (which is about 9 years, not the age difference between the actors).
