Hey. So we know that although Alear's memories are wiped, he still carries subliminal trauma around. The biggest example being how he responds to the Corrupted, knowing they're something he should fear and hate even if he doesn't immediately understand.

I'd expect that the first time Sombron killed him, it left similar psychological scarring. But think about it. Sombron kills him twice, a thousand years apart, in pretty much the same way.

The first time, he's struck from behind, caught by surprise. Nothing he could do about it (except giving Sombron a double tap, I guess).

The second time, he's facing the blast head-on. He leaps deliberately into its path. He chooses it, because it's the only way to protect Veyle, to take the damage in her place.

He never stops struggling with his fear of the Corrupted, but in that instant, he has the courage to stare down something which has already killed him, for the sake of his little sister.

Then, of course, literally ten minutes later, he's volunteering to become Corrupted himself, to try and help his friends just a bit longer. He's so brave, and so good. The main character of all time to me.

really truly wish that merrin and f!alear's support focused more around her chivalrous lesbian aspect and less on her rare animal interest. still S supporting her every time though

so in the Fell Xenologue the Alear in the other world is the opposite gender of the Alear the player chooses but all the characters immediately mistake you for the other one despite the gender differance

and all i can think of is if the implication here is that they all just assumed that Alear transitioned after disappearing for a year? Was the Alear in the Fell Xenologue world so aggressively egg that nobody questions or even mentions that they suddenly have boobs now and are wearing a miniskirt and go by she/her now, is Nil in the corner like "I FUCKING CALLED IT" and now Nel owes him $10

So whoever gets the Pact Ring, there's always a mention of where they keep it and how much they treasure it. In most cases, this is very sweet. In some cases, it's also...something else.

A compilation of noteworthy Pact Ring weirdness.

Kagetsu: Wears the Pact Ring everywhere he goes, very nearly losing it on dozens of occasions.

Can you imagine losing that thing. Like, Alear could probably find it again with some type of magical dragon senses, but imagine having to tell him he's gotta do that.

Zelkov: Keeps the Pact Ring in a locked box, the key to which is kept inside another locked box just to be thorough.

I love this. The complete opposite to Kagetsu, this guy is taking no chances.

Bunet: He once tasted the ring’s gem.

...At least he didn't accidentally swallow the whole thing.

Merrin: She rarely wears the Pact Ring because it puts such a big-but-uncool smile on her face.

Actually, this one strikes me as kind of sad. Life is short! Don't avoid what makes you smile, for the sake of a superficial image!

Nel: Claims to store the Pact Ring in her room, but in truth has never once left it unattended.

Ah, a lie which benefits nobody whatsoever. Nel please don't be tsundere, that's your horrible brother's remit. Speaking of which...

Rafal: Keeps the Pact Ring in a vessel made from his own scales, and is very careful about showing it to anyone.

Everyone else chooses a lovely decorative box/pouch/pedestal, if they're not actively wearing it. Rafal? No, gold or silver isn't good enough, he's going to rip pieces off his own transformed body and make a container from those instead. Babygirl you're so deranged.

Sombron has such a kick ass design he looks so scary and threatening. But only in dramatic lighting because every time I saw him in a cutscene in broad daylight I was like what the hell you look ridiculous

If I had a nickel for every time my favorite character turned out to be an atheist in a world where you can just walk up to God(or something equivalent) I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird it's happened twice.

my personal headcanons:

Alear: sour

Nil: bitter

sour and bitter are the two other primary flavors (at least that I know of) not repped, and I think the idea of dragon Jesus liking sour things and soft + sweet Nil liking bitter things has higher potential for comedy
