Life Update

So, I quit my job on Wednesday of this week. A choice that was planned but also happened on the spot. I had originally intended on giving them a months notice so I could help train a replacement, but some things happened and I decided that no that wasn't going to happen.

I will be working on opening commissions as well as some other things to try and tide me over until I can find a new job. Ultimately my goal is a part time position so I can focus more on art. That in and of itself is a big part of why I wanted to leave the other job. The stress was getting me to a point where I wasn't doing practically anything but sit and doom scroll.

So like, I'm super excited about this transition but I also need to up my online presence while its happening. Something I've been pretty shite at recently.

FFVII Rebirth Spoilers Ahead

NGL This is going to be a big ramble but BUT I finished this game a bit ago now and I CAN'T STOP THINKING ABOUT IT. For anyone who is curious I ADORED it. There were a few moments I had frustrations with (Looking at you box throwing mini game) but that aside this game is still a solid 10/10 for me.

Be prepared for a lot of this to not make sense because I am typing as the thoughts come, there is no organization to them. for the TL:DR I liked the game and I am super excited for the answers we're going to get in part 3.

I cannot get over how well they handled the characters in this game. I should have expected it with how good of a job they did in Remake but they managed to absolutely blow my mind this game AGAIN.

That aside the thing I want to really focus on right now is the timeline stuff. I don't really have any solid theories as to how things are going to resolve nor do I have any set in stone mindset for Aerith's current situation but I have thoughts and ideas of how I would LIKE them to go.

I'm very curious about the timeline stuff. The characters who seem to have knowledge of other timelines vs those who don't. Its clear Zack, Biggs and Marlene are aware that there's something going on, not necessarily what but the fact that Marlene and Biggs knew of Cloud while in Zack's timeline makes me wonder what that means for Marlene in Cloud's timeline. I figure the hug from remake imparted all Marlene's with a bit of knowledge? I don't even know and I cannot wait to find out.

I also found the whispers a lot easier to deal with mentally this time around when thinking of them as extensions of Sephiroth and either Aerith or the life stream.

I may be wrong but I also feel like the weapons we saw in this game were the unwoken/larval stages of Ruby and Sapphire. I absolutely adored that sequence with Tifa and it makes me HELLA excited to see her help Cloud piece himself back together.

And then AND THEN we have that whole mess (still loved it all) with how they handled Aerith's death. I'm of two mindsets right now with what happened there. The one that I think is most likely true is Aerith is dead dead and Cloud is seeing her as some coping mechanism. I'm not 100% sold on the idea of it being Jenova manipulating him (though that would be hella dark and I would LOVE it). The other thing that I feel like may be the case is Aerith is dead but in the lifestream and is actively communicating with Cloud. Again not fully sold on it but I suppose we're just gonna have to wait and see. I think next game when we revisit things we're going to get that iconic scene of him lowering her into the water as he finally accepts the truth. Maybe after he recovers himself. All I know is its going to be so heartbreaking and good to watch as the team start doubting him while he spirals.

I think the black materia is going to be a fun game-play element to his skills in the next game too and I am super excited for some sort of Dark Knight Cloud. I feel like we're going to lose him pretty early on in part 3, I fully expect within the first couple of hours of the game the northern crater shit is going to go down and we'll have Party Leader Tifa for a while.

I can honestly say I don't know what kind of ending I want for this trilogy. Part of me wants it to be a reset, for the timeline to return to what it should. Another part of me wants it to be the happy ending for all. Either way I'll probably be happy. I think the only ending that would piss me off is someone wakes up and it was all a dream.

Final Fantasy 7 shippers have got to be some of the most unhinged people I have ever seen in fandom. I know ship wars happen elsewhere but the way FFVII shippers DEMONIZE the other female leads that don't match with their idea of what should be is crazy to me. Feels so very anti-feminist of you.

It also shows a complete lack of understanding about how romantic and unromatic feelings can process. Like I see in so many fandoms not just FFVII where the protagonist has a relationship with more than one person over the series but shippers will tell you that only the end game counts or the end game ship isnt the TRUE ship and I'm just like ??? IDK friends why not ship them both/all? More content to read and absorb feels like a win win to me. I'm not tagging this because I know people will find it if I do and have SOMETHING to say about my choice of considering both canon in their own way.

Children of Circumstance

It is well known that all things contain energy. It is less known whether or not that energy can be attributed to a soul. Or if the soul comes later when the energy shifts. Radwan, like Apophis were both once lifeless rocks. Full of untapped energies waiting to be brought to the surface. For Radwan that shift was intentional. For Apophis it was not.

Radwan was a being brought to life through millennia of careful planning. Each planet the Baha came across was surveyed and inspected. Every small detail mattered. Her start was brilliant and beautiful. Every aspect of Radwan’s awakening was cultivated and crafted with mindful motion. The first breath of life surging forth as intended. And even still the unexpected happened.

Though Radwan’s life was planned her sentience was not. The energy within her shifted in a way that not only brought nature to a barren planet. But that the very planet itself woke up. Responded to the Baha in a way that no other planet they cultivated had.

The Baha rejoiced. Welcoming this new child into the fold. Shared with her their knowledge of eons past.

The Baha found their peace on Radwan and for the first time since their own creation the Baha slept. Content in the knowledge that Radwan would flourish under her own gentle guidance.

The Baha would never again wake. For Apophis would bring them to their end.

Apophis came to being through chaos and fury. Unintended and unwanted. A child born of destruction. Not a planet, but an asteroid soaring peacefully through space until the smallest of changes altered its course.

Like Radwan the shift in energy brought forth another child. But this shift was not cultivated and crafted. This shift was sudden and explosive. Apophis was born in fire and torment, becoming chaos incarnate. And like Radwan they gained the knowledge of the Baha, fragmented and imperfect.

Trapped behind a wall of magic, contained in a prison where the chaos could only grow and shift. No one to hear their cries for freedom. Their cries to return to the peace they did not know they would miss. A peace that would be nothing more than a distant memory imprinted on their soul. And oh, how they longed for the unattainable.
