she hiccups, and cups her cheek with her manicured hand, raising her brows at kian as he speaks, and then she smiles. it's small, but genuine, before it falters again. "yeah, well... you know me, i'm always a sucker for a good party. however, this club has god awful music taste." and it wasn't necessarily all because craig's music played every once and awhile. she wasn't a club-music type person, much preferred the girly pop music she can play from her own radio. taps white french tipped fingers against her cheeks before giving him a nod, shrugging her shoulders. "yeah, okay. a lemon drop martini, thanks." shannon eyes the bartender who makes another round across the bar, before flickering long lashes back at her ex. "so, it's been, forever. what's the great kian hines been up too, huh? besides cutting out the jack with his coke."

it seemed like she hadn't changed. and that sort of made him feel worse because he was so... jaded. he wasn't surprised that she went off to date some famous musician, and he ran away from his mediocrity by inheriting a fucking farm with his older sister. speaking of, she would definitely kick him for opening up with how not good his pretty ex girlfriend was. "you've got a point," he responded, smirking slightly and shaking his head. for a moment, he relived his 'glory' days. shannon on his arm, some nerd getting shoved into a locker. and now... "i just... i didn't mean you look ugly. i know that's not even possible. i'm just sayin' ..... you look like you want to be here less than i do. and that's, uh. that's saying something." he shoved his hands into his pockets, fishing through the random shit he could fit in there before pulling out his wallet. "can i buy you another one? it'll be less embarrassing to grab you a drink with my diet coke than just getting it on my own."

sid only thought about having kids one time in his life - and that was when he was drunk, talking to his bandmates about how cool it'd be if they had kids all at the same time and created a new era for their band. other than that, he hadn't really thought about it. sure, he was raised by two loving parents, maybe not the best or most present, but loving - and he thought he'd make an okay dad.. but not now, not when he's barely got enough money to keep himself up, not when he's still learning how to take care of himself. "okay, okay... yeah, good point." he mumbles, thinking to himself how much of an idiot he was for not wrapping it up - it was almost impressive he's made it this far without knocking anyone else up... that he knows of. his brows raise at his friend, hand going to smack against his chest, scrunching up his face. "ouch, ki. rude, real fuckin rude." sid pouts playfully before his eyes drop back down to the little girl, still sleeping her little heart away. "i dunno, she kinda looks like me, doesn't she?" he shrugs. she did have his nose and eyes, and she definitely had her mothers pointy little chin. "i dunno, man. i don't think her grandparents would drop her off with me if they weren't sure. should i get one of those dna tests? that's a thing, ain't it?"

though she wants to sympathize with his situation, she couldn't. this may all be too sudden but it's his responsibility to be with the child regardless of what the circumstances may be. obviously, this is no time to give him a lecture. nothing will surely get through his thick head in his state. she would hold back for now and be a good friend. be the voice of reason to hopefully help him accept his current situation much easier. ❝ the kind of people who are tired of picking up other's responsibility. was it irresponsible of them to just drop her off here? yes, very much so. but it's also irresponsible to shoot your load without thinking of this possibility. ❞ her hands muses over the sleeping child. ❝ listen, take it one step at a time. you're already thinking about the state of your place and even your car, it means you care. that's a good start! ❞ she compliments, in an attempt to lift his spirit. ❝ no, you're not hot enough to be a dilf so i suggest you focus on what's important here, your child. ❞ she reminds him. ❝ just remember this kid is more scared than you are. but, how sure are you she's yours? i don't mean to judge but it sounds like her mother is not the most faithful woman. ❞
