Daydream
Summary: Sam and the Reader both get lost in their daydreams.
Pairing: Sam x Reader, (Platonic) appearances from Dean
Warnings: Fluff, Angst, Some tame implied mentions of sex
Words: 2702 words
A/N: Written for Suptober 20, Day 5, Daydream @winchester-reload
Sam had spent the morning telling you about the Multiverse; all the other worlds with their own different ways of being. They sounded mostly awful. Apocalypse world, The Bad Place, the worlds without yellow or entirely populated by squirrels – but if they existed, you reasoned there must be other ones, ones that were good. And if they had found other versions of Bobby or Charlie, surely there were other ‘you’s out there too? Other ‘you’s, other Sam’s, other Dean’s. You wondered if they’d all found each other too, like you all had here, on this earth.
The thought had stayed with you all day.
Images and scenes from other lives that you now knew possibly existed, somewhere, out there.
They played in your mind like home movies of lives you hadn’t led. You were watching them even now, as you sat in the library, trying but failing to keep your concentration fixed on the words in the book in front you.
Instead of lore on subspecies of Rugaru, you were focused on a cabin in your mind and all the possibilities that other worlds might hold.

I love how spn writer literally went “well, we have this dude who has cool powers and visions, who’s part of some weird special children clique, who had demon blood inside him since he was six months old, who has a connection to the main villain of the first two seasons of the show, who’s lucifer’s freaking true vessel, but despite all that, despite being told that he’s evil, that he will inevitably turn to the dark side, that he won’t be able to change the destiny that was chosen for him before he was even born, he desperately tries to Do good and Be good and even when he messes up, it’s always because he was trying to do the right thing; who’s always willing to sacrifice himself for the greater good, who always tries to make up for his mistakes, even the ones that aren’t really his fault, who sees the good in everyone and tries to give everyone a chance, who still has faith despite all the bad he’d seen, who has felt unclean and wrong his whole life, even as a child, who’s been othered by his family and his community for something he can’t change about himself. BUT we’re gonna constantly mistreat him and vilify him for literally no valid reason and drop all of his storylines and instead glorify the boring stereotypical cishet white dude that you find in literally every show ever, who’s entire personality revolves around his obsession for his family and his only character traits are his controlling behaviour, his self-righteousness, his bigotry, his selective amnesia and his constant abuse of everyone around him and we’re not even gonna give him some decent character development!! we are very intelligent <3”
