I spotted a reply to one of my posts:

And my knee-jerk response was "no, you should hear my friends talk about their lives--"

And it made me remember something.

Back in high school, my IB class did a lock-in-- where the group of students gets locked into one part of the school overnight on a weekend-- and after junk food and video games lost their appeal, we got to talking.

Only I didn't really know anything about almost any of them. They were all friendly enough, but I kept to myself for the most part, so we didn't have much to talk about once standard small talk ran out.

So I asked one of the other people sitting with me: "what's your story?"

Your life story.

And he told me. Sixteen years or so condensed into maybe a half hour. And it was the most fascinating life I could have imagined: the places he'd been, the things he'd done, the experiences that defined him. It boggled my mind.

When he finished and turned the question around to me, I thought mine sounded really boring in comparison, but he listened open-mouthed to the entire thing. Other kids were gathering around us by now, listening in. And when I finished mine, I turned to another one of them and asked the question to them.

And just like before, my mind was blown. A completely different life, completely different focal points, defining experiences, goals the likes of which were deserving of an anime. And the same happened with the next person we asked, and the next.

By the time each one of us had finished telling their story, it was time to go home for the morning. The video games had been abandoned hours ago. None of us had slept. We were too caught up in each other's lives.

All of which is to say:

Thank you. I do lead a very interesting life.

So do you.

it was really chilling to see how Andor portrayed the Ghorman Massacre: how they showed a peaceful protest in support of a demonized minority become twisted by the news media into a lawless riot, how the imperial troops amped up the threat of force to try and pressure the protestors into lashing out, how the empire deployed green recruits hoping they lacked the training to keep cool heads, how the empire used false-flag tactics to frame the protestors as the instigators of the massacre, and how the mass media chose to lionize the dead perpetrators while slandering the thousands of victims the empire murdered in a plot to justify stealing from the people.

Hey just a little PSA from a street medic if you’re heading out to any protests:

Never pour anything other than saline or water in the eyes

COVER YOUR FACE. We live in a surveillance state. They can and will use photos of you to make arrests EVEN AFTER THE PROTEST ENDS. An N95+ a wet bandana on top works great. Gas masks/ respirators are better. You can find them in the painting section of hardware stores.

KNOW YOUR ARRESTABILITY AND ACT ACCORDINGLY. If you cannot be arrested bc you have mouths to feed at home, act accordingly. Don’t put yourself in any more danger than the pigs are already putting you in. They don’t care about who you have at home. You have to. Do everything in your power to keep you and your loved ones safe. If you are able to be arrested- learn how to effectively de-arrest others. It saves lives. Talk to the people around you at the protest and find people at similar levels of arrestability so that you can protest the most effectively.

There are a lot of basic first aid courses that you can find for free on YouTube- these are things you don’t need to know until you REALLY FUCKING NEED TO KNOW. It could save your life. It could save others.

If u have spare $40 and about 3 hours you can get CPR/ First Aid certified ONLINE through the Red Cross. It’s not even hard or difficult to understand. Info on how to stop bleeding SAVES LIVES. It also gives you info on how to identify and help with asthma attacks, heart attacks, minor breaks and sprains AS WELL AS BLEED CONTROL AND SPINAL INJURY.

DO NOT QUIBBLE OR LOOK DOWN ON ACTS OF VANDALISM. It creates division in a group which is dangerous, and all you’re doing is protecting property. Protect each other instead.

Bring ear protection and eye protection (ear plugs+ over the ear protection is best for LRADs you can and will go deaf for those things) (obviously goggles u get from a hardware store are gonna be the most protective but even if you just have swim goggles you’ll last a lot longer out there)

Bring a helmet- even if all you have is a bike helmet. Hard hats or motorcycle helmets are great- but any head protection is better than none.

Bring water and snacks for yourself and others if you can carry it.

Wear comfortable shoes. If I see another person in heels I stg. You WILL have to run. Plan accordingly.

And finally, go into every protest KNOWING that the pigs will do everything they can to enact violence on you. Be aware of your surroundings, make sure everyone knows where the cops are. Do not get trapped because you weren’t paying attention.

P.s. there are more of us than there are of them, but they hold all the weapons. If you’re able(and ONLY if you are able) use your body to protect others. Especially if you are white.

P.P.S talk to your medics. They have all the good shit (masks, ear protection, snacks, water, Tylenol) protect them at all costs. We are often targeted by the pigs specifically bc we are there to help you keep fighting.

desegregate all sports now. no more gendered sports. its stupid

if you absolutely must, in primarily muscle force-based sports, create competitive classes like in boxing except separated by body comp, not just pure body weight. i mean, if you must. this will eliminate any tiny advantages in muscle mass. some will say basketball should have height classes but frankly some of the NBA's most impressive players were not tall so idk that this actually matters ever

the primary athletic impediment to all women is overwhelmingly cultural and psychological. i have won probably half the physical competitions with cis men that i have engaged in, friendly or otherwise. even without the benefit of a lifetime of people trying to make me throw or hit balls, i have won wrestling matches, sparring matches, funny backyard foam sword fights, video games, equestrian activities, dance, endurance tests of various kinds, etc. i'm small and weak. men think theyre stronger and more skilled than they are, women think the opposite about themselves

humans just arent that differently-sized or -shaped, as a species. we have almost no sexual dimorphism at all compared to the vast majority of other mammals.

animals that have similar levels of sexual dimorphism to humans, for example cats, dogs, and horses, do not generally have competitive events segregated by sex. the dog agility trials dont normally have separate leagues for male and female dogs (gendered competitions exist they're just unusual). because it doesnt matter. there is no kentucky derby 2 just for girl horses. thats not a thing
