You were a quiet child. Content with crayons and paper, drawing stick figures and landscapes and suns and waves and flowers. Your parents didn’t mind, you didn’t get into trouble and your clothes didn’t become dirty and maybe they liked to preserve their energy as much as you did. You didn’t require constant watching nor caring when you had your coloring book. Maybe you didn’t do the chores you were told to do and didn’t speak of the dinner invitation until it had passed, but that was fine too.
You were a quiet child. Packing your bags with your colors and leaving the island you grew up on, a note with the words ‘I’m going to become an artist.’ left on the table. If they worried you didn’t know, sometimes you assumed they did, but you had made a choice. Colors had an effect on people, art made them happy, sad and angry. It already affected their subconscious, so your new skills wasn’t that strange really.
You were a quiet child. How you ended up here didn’t matter, they paid you and you had company and you got to draw on the most magnificent of works. Sometimes you had to put down your cup of tea and support Mister Three in battle but you didn’t mind. Good, bad, right, wrong, it all had ceased its meaning. It was art that provoked and you two made a strong duo, even if Mister Three got angry when you were relaxing instead of informing him of the mission orders.
You are a quiet child. Content with watercolors and easel, drawing landscapes and paula and lassoo and the customers drinking coffee. Your art is more vibrant now that you have people you care for, people you want to protect. You still carry the name from that time, shaking your head whenever anyone suggests you start using your birth one again. That name didn’t carry any meaning any more, not like MISS GOLDENWEEK did.

THERE IS NO NEED for Miss Goldenweek to keep using such an alias, Baroque Works’ days are long gone after all. She could easily use her real name again, if not only to make it harder for people to find out where she used to belong, but how do you take back a name you threw away?
INSTEAD she goes by the nickname GOLDEN whenever necessary, still prone to introduce herself as Miss Goldenweek as it’s the very core of her sense of identity but whenever she needs it, there is another option.
