Actual Board
Apparently, yesterday was the last exam date for the October 2014 CPA board exam. They say this has got to be the hardest and most unpredictable board exam to date (yeah even harder than July), which I can firmly attest.
Here i'm just gonna let out all my feedback and sentiments for every subjs, and since I've signed up for the non-disclosure clause, the feedback will be limited (I wish I could write you guys the whole coverage, but i just can't spill it all out sorry )
1st day:
TOA: easy-average questions, objective type. Some questions were taken from RESA preweek and CPAR final preboard.
Tip: must have at least read/scanned PFRS/PAS. Disclosures are must read!
AT: easy-average questions, objective type, 5 grammar questions. Some questions were taken from Wiley.
Tip: Read salosagcol textbook and put emphasis on reviewing the meaning of all the terms. I have one friend in review school, she read the book before the exam, and commented after  "Buti na lang, binasa ko yung book ni salosagcol kagabi".
2nd day
MS: easy-average questions, obj type, prob solving. Quite surprised cos they said this subject is a killer. I guess it depends upon whether the examiner is in a good mood or not in making the exam lol kidding aside, eto yung pambawing subj, well sa batch namin haha
Tip: never just solve, know the theories and apply it in solving probs. You just have to at least know the mnemonics in formulas or the logic behind it. read overview of MS :)
P1: easy-hard. Situational (?) problems, AP type 3 probs. Solvable but surprisingly hard, just because all probs you thought would appear in AP, actually appeared in here.
Tip: solve long probs like statement of cash flows, fs, and OCI in sir valix prac 1 book.
3rd day
AP: easy-hard. probs including theories. fusion of P2, P1, MAS probs.
Tip: if you can't get the right answer and all means fail just work back, trust me, everyone does it haha
P2: average-hard probs, AP type half probs. I have so much feels for P2, I wish I could curse in here but naaah it won't change the fact that this subject is the KILLER and the HARDEST among them 7 subjs.
Tip: Never take COST esp process costing for granted. Might surprise you in the actual board. Try to solve lupisan's fill in the blanks prob and joint arrangement/joint venture.
4th day
BLT: easy-average. 80% theories, 20% probs. not that mind boggling compared to july, well they say.
Tip: Read your preweek esp in Law. Valencia/Roxas and Ampongan are good for theories and probs in Tax.
If i had to rank from the most difficult to the easiest subj, my list would be:
1. Prac2
2.P1
3.AP
4.TOA
5.BLT
6.AT
7.MS
Well,it's just me though. Some of you may find the most difficult subjs the easiest or vice versa, i think it depends on our forte na lang siguro.
As of this writing, the result has not yet been released. Basta, whatever the result is, I'll accept it and take it as a blessing for God knows what's good for us. We just have to trust him.
PS: to all October board takers, "Kudos, our efforts will soon pay off. Kapit lang and pray"

CPAR Final Preboard
Devastated as shit... Well, I couldn't even describe how hard I struggled on those 20 hrs
TOA - got me like "nabasa ko na to sa reviewer, bat ganun nakalimutan ko na agad". questions (average - hard) that's because 1st view lang topics from finacc 3 para sakin and once ko pa lang nababsa and yun madami lumabas
BLT- law is okay except for corpo questions like yung how many BOD or stockholders kelangan for blah blah. Di ko pa naman menemorize yun and haba kasi at ang dami nakaklito pa. tax is idkhow to describe it, medyo nakakalito and ang tricky ng problem solving. Waterloo ko pa naman ito.
MS - di ko alam pero dito ako pinakanadalian. real talk lang, di ko alam kasi dito ako mataas 1st preboard. More on questions na gingamitan ng formula. Yung iba winorkback ko na lang!!! lol
AT - harder than the 1st. puro substantive testing question, yun pa naman pinakaayaw ko. rest of the questions were average-hard
AP - not even sure if i scored HALF. ANG HIRAP NG PROBLEMS NAKAKAPAGMURA at ANG HABA PA. Hinulaan ko na lang yung iba.
P1 - natuwa ako dito, not because madali pero lahat ng pinagaralan ko yun yung lumabas. Meron mang iba, common sense lang gagamitin mo. pero yung iba sobrang may trick talaga.
P2 - 2nd half was solvable, got theories as ice breaker. 1st half puro WORKBACK makakaconsume ka ng 5 mins bawat prob and makikita mo sa choices wala dun answer. Cost muna sinolve ko, yung yung easy questions. Madami partnership (sir K type question sa undergrad dati), long term and installment sales.
WHAT A PREBOARD EXPERIENCE!!!!

It's that time of the month
Final preboard tom yet still haven't studied all the lessons covered, so much that I regret slacking for a week. Screw the feeling of being burnt out.

Good read
From: “You can pass the CPA Exam: Get Motivated” by Hopkins
Successful completion of the AUDIT section requires candidates to apply
knowledge rather than merely repeat knowledge. The AUDIT multiplechoice
questions are the most difficult of all four exam...

October 2014
Time flies so fast. September na kagad and 3 mos na naglapse from start ng review which is June. 24 days na lang CPA board na and 5 days before final preboard. Di ko alam pero kinakabahan na ako!
I'm literally shaking as of this post, just cos malapit na nga and then di ko alam pero parang kulang pa yung 3 mos na review and andami ko pang hindi alam. Andami ko nang naiisip "Pano kung...." "Dapat pala.." "blah blah". Pinanghahawakan ko na lang na God will help me & ease my worries so I could concentrate and pass the board.
Dear Lord, sana talaga! kayo na bahala sakin. CPA by October.

DON'T DATE A CPA
Tumblr media
While trust could be given, accountants still tend to validate things. Just in auditing, it’s essential to have a professional skepticism. (Professional skepticism is an attitude that includes a questioning mind, being alert to conditions which may indicate possible misstatement due to error or fraud, and a critical assessment of audit evidence.) If you are planning to lie, just make sure you have the evidence to corroborate your statement. CPAs are good in finding the truth. So if you want to date a CPA, just don’t lie. It doesn’t work.
CPAs practice the full disclosure principle. The full disclosure principle states that you should include in an entity’s financial statements all information that would affect a reader’s understanding of those statements. Surely,It will eventually bug you if CPAs keep on questioning your whereabouts such as:
"Why did it take 7 minutes before you replied?"
"Who’s that girl in the photo?"
"Please give me the list of names of your company tonight".
The interpretation of this principle is highly judgmental, since the amount of information that can be shared is unlimited. To avoid such conflicts or misunderstanding, you should both set a standard of materiality as to what information that must be shared to each other. If you don’t want this kind of hassle, just don’t date a CPA.
Your date is under a strict budget. Everything is already calculated. If you are a just-spend-if-that-makes-you-happy kind of person, then just don’t date a CPA. CPAs always go with what’s in the budget. CPAs may spoil your excitement.
The Matching Principle. The matching principle states that each expense item related to revenue earned must be recorded in the same accounting period as the revenue it helped to earn. Or simply, an expense must matched with related revenue. CPAs tend to seek compliment or appreciation of the things they have put in a relationship such as time, effort and money. An effort should be rewarded by compliment, a kiss or a warm hug. Just don’t neglect their efforts. If you can’t match their efforts, then just don’t date one.
