Internet Marketing Campaign Development Reflection
This month was very intense but at the same time it was rewarding as well, it gave us a chance to bring everything full circle from all the classes we spent on learning about Internet Marketing. I really enjoyed this class and felt it helped me understand implementing your marketing campaign strategy within a companies’ structure. I had a ball learning about the three marketing campaigns I liked most and why they were impactful and in some cases revolutionary in their markets. Making the pitch presentation also helped me formulate my final marketing plan and helped me to center all the important details about the plan giving me the main areas of focus to narrow it down too. The discussions were also very passionate and helpful on the value of these marketing campaigns and what they do for a company and its growth. I also think marketing campaigns help inspire a lot of change within the companies industries by offering innovative opportunities that help push many industries forward. This class laid a great foundation on how to properly execute a marketing campaign and we even got to learn directly from great presenters through a lot of research. I believe that this class is the final piece to the puzzle before we become professional Internet marketers and the principles it implemented within us allow us to to add to our skill set on our journey of mastery. I will utilize everything learned in this class to become the best marketer I can be using all the essential elements in the most creative ways I can. This class helped me to establish goals of my own for my own company and how I should go about growing it from scratch to have a solid blueprint in moving forward once a marketing plan is implemented.

Internet and The Law Reflection Post
This month was a very intense course Im happy I got to go through what Internet Law is all about and its a much needed course when understanding Internet marketing entirely. Within the first week after covering jurisdiction and copyrights I got a good understanding of if states can sue defendants that are not citizens but have business within the state which is good to know and steps U.S courts perform before claiming jurisdiction. Its interesting to know that the Zippo test and the Effects test come into play before anything jurisdiction is determined, each test depending on actions and intentions and if any damage was caused intentionally. I also really enjoyed learning more about copyrights because I have always been into music and hold a degree in entertainment business and understand the ins and outs of the entertainment industries. While getting refreshed on copyrights there are also things I still was able to learn including how Bill gates of Microsoft had a big part in the 1980s on why software is now protected under law, Bill Gates claimed  “copying was the key into turning digital products into wealth.” It was also cool to get in depth on peer to peer file sharing and understanding how that alone had a big impact on the music industry far as copyrights goes and understanding the negative effects of it. Each week I feel we had important topics that makes up Internet Law and the importance of it showing us do’s and don’ts of each aspect. The introduction to cybercrime was defiantly a real eye opener as well and the debates on the topic helped a lot. Learning about the different laws that came into play just because the internet is beginning to become more vast was interesting to know, laws such as the Identity theft penalty enhancement act on how it protects internet users and if the penalties are strict enough for cyber criminals stemmed great discussions. The class had a chance to look at statistics and how cyber criminals are growing in numbers as well as their techniques and how their getting more clever and things you can do to protect yourself was very important to know. Learning how companies also protect themselves from cyber-criminals is most important because its a lot of data and sensitive information companies can’t afford to be leaked, utilizing attorneys, having information backed up on cloud storage and hiring 3rd party defenses were all important factors in protecting sensitive information. Also learning about that all spam isn’t bad was intriguing as well, learning about the Can-Spam act and how it was implemented by George W. Bush in 2003 and the fines of up to $40,000 if you violate the terms of the act was good to know. I also learned how some people make a good living off of spam alone and terms like “constitutionally permissible” placing spam under a form of protected speech by the first amendment making it within compliance of the Federal trade commission. I also really enjoyed how we would as a company work “spam” into our marketing strategy this was helpful because as an entreprenuer as myself it gave me alternative ways to think outside the box and in the future possibly how I can use spam as a benefit, seeing it in a positive light instead of a negative one. Everything in this course was helpful an would help me on my journey to mastery especially the use of privacy and privacy policies and the importance they are to any website when your in business. Privacy policies may not be read as often as companies would like to be but they can also help protect you from lawsuits in the long run so its important to implement one just in case people do decide to glance at them so at least some important things are spelled out there. Everything I learned in this class was meaningful and will help me as I establish my own company and begin to do business online, it’s been fun.

Web Analytics & Optimization
This was a great course I really looked forward to having this course and now that it is over I know that I still have a lot to learn about web analytics & optimization. I really got a lot of great detailed insight that would help me on my journey to Internet Marketing master. This course really put in perspective learning about how to have a structured strategy in place which is very important for obtaining success and running any company in today’s time. It was helpful learning more in depth about KPI’s or key performance indicators and their use to a marketing strategy and how they line up when you have smart goals. KPI’s indicate how a company is performing achieving their objectives and when in line with Smart goals which is an acronym for specific, measurable, actionable, relevant, and time bound principles it makes management of a company so much easier. These two principles alone help optimize a company’s strategy in the world of web analytics and help give any company an edge in the market place. Also I enjoyed doing the real world applications I think those were great ways to understand what a company looks for when submitting a detailed marketing proposal from a internet marketing consultant’s perspective. I also really enjoyed learning about Eric Peterson’s point of views when it comes to web analytics and the last discussion really gave me a new perspective on free tools vs. paid tools, Eric Peterson quotes “individuals using free tools have less experience with web analytics in general.” The quote mentioned makes a lot of sense and web analytics is another world in its own right and its best to start with free solutions before paid. Eric also quotes “Companies serious about improving their website but unable to commit the necessary resources should consider licensed solutions.” Company’s that are larger need analytics and could reach out to 3rd parties or just hire a professional internally which would make things easier, these days companies that plan to get greater ROI’s need web analytics to steer the way. Overall I got a lot of great information from this course and plan to utilize the principles I learned here to take to the next level for my own development of a company and consulting expertise I can bring to other companies when developing detailed marketing plans.

Strategic Public Relations Mastery Reflection
Upon entering the strategic Public Relations class I was excited because this is an important role in a company and within marketing, and to understand how a PR’s job is so essential. I learned a great deal of important information throughout the course, and the assignments were very informative and would defiantly help me on my journey to mastery in the Internet Marketing world. I plan to use many tactics from a PR’s perspective to showcase more unity within my own company and gaining trust from my audience and stakeholders. I think each element of public relations is important from learning more about the structure of setting up marketing campaigns and the tools that it takes to measure PR results and how their different from traditional marketing tools. I really got to learn about the value of Public Relations and how it creates more brand awareness and a PR’s job can be one of the most important voices within a companies structure to increase customer perception of a brand. Monitoring your brand and having an organized team while following a strict code of ethics helps to reach a great level of success when done right. I really liked gaining more knowledge on PR tactics and how to better communicate with your audience which I will also keep in mind to implement within my final project. PR can help a company to be more effective in the marketplace, we also covered meeting goals, fan engagement and how to write a press release the right way. I also understand now how PR professionals measure these results and bring more value through social media. Learning about the importance of having top communication tools internally for your team so everyone’s on the same page can also benefit the company in the long run. Learning about the master of metrics was also great because it taught me about the expectations of senior leadership within a company and what’s expected from great PR. One of the most important lessons I learned in this class was to have clear goals, and measure your performance as well as keeping track of your competitors to truly understand your market. By identifying metrics that place focus on business outcomes, your sales, customer service, and your team, the company will greatly benefit overtime.

Advanced Internet Marketing Strategies
This course gave me great insight of Internet Marketing and how dynamic and essential it is for your business, it had a lot of great insight and lessons and overall a well-rounded course. Learning more about your consumers and turning them into customers was pretty much the key of this course, which is also key to every business. I feel it’s really important to learn and understand the value of trust within a brand as well as how to maintain that trust overtime. Once I learned about sales funnels and how the whole buying process is automated that taught me a lot about what a company needs to do in order to mold the customers mind to commit to the brand through a process. There are steps a brand must walk a customer through for them to ultimately buy your product instead of a million of other competitors. The Aidas model used in a marketing campaign is effective on achieving solid results focusing on attention, interest, desire, action then a sale, simply the process from the consumers point of view. I also learned about marketing formulas, tools that marketers use to establish revenue and weigh traffic, these tools are considered metrics and help make marketing an easier process. I also got a chance to understand landing pages better which helps when your targeting specific groups of people for a specific product, you can also use them to test specific areas of the website to make more efficient to optimize over time. Trust is also a big factor in gaining more customers and making sure your website is secure with HTTPS encryption and SSL certificates, which is also a big part of trust if customers save private information on your website. Overall this course covered extensively all aspects on running a successful trust worthy company while building an online community. Before this course I knew how beneficial other online platforms can be to your companies success such as blogs, newsletters, & social media which also helps drive traffic resulting in higher conversion rates. I learned the difference between Interest and Intention based marketing which was helpful; Intention based dealing with more of a demand for a certain product. Interest is focused on interest that’s related to the customers, primarily utilizing the Aidas model in the buying process. Everything mentioned I plan to study more and implement within my own company structure.

Advanced Search Engine Optimization Reflection
Before I came into Search Engine Optimization I had a good idea of what it was but now I have a lot of insight on the infrastructure of how it works. I think SEO is a great tool for the internet and most importantly businesses on the internet, being the reason for much entrepreneurial success. In this class I learned all the tools that it takes to build your campaigns in order to get an ROI in your business. I also learned how important keywords and the volume you can get if you use the right ones to reach your audience. Its important to do research on keywords and use your data so you can increase website traffic and build brand awareness. This class teaches you how to bypass the competition and how to bring in more customers while adding more strategic structure to your company. It’s also important to know your budget, we learn how to put together a marketing page proposal for a client as a consultant as well. It’s a very important thing to know to keep you relevant as you gain clients within the industry to support yourself. Learning about the budget of a marketing campaign gave me great insight because I have a lot of ambitions of growing my own internet brand. Each keyword in a campaign is another price you have to pay to attract your core audience some keywords going as low as .10 - .75 but as high as $2-9 depending on the size and scope of your campaign. In anything you do their will be competitors and this class teaches you how to think outside the box by even utilizing new keywords that have potential and using external tools to reach your goals. When your using keywords in a campaign will be most importantly monitering the CTR (click thru rate) which gives you the ratio of customers who clicked particular links. A better understanding of ROI projections, testing ads & landing pages are other critical elements discussed that would benefit our companies as well as others was learned and appreciated. I enjoyed using the tool Spyfu it taught me where my competitors traffic was coming from by the use of paid ads vs organic ads, you can also see their top keywords and how many click those keywords monthly. I can say i’m defiantly satisfied with what I learned here and the work we had to do to understand the topics and elements of SEO. In closing another key I really liked learning about was defining your target market segments and how useful that is for a company to divide up your customers and figure out which of the company segments the company will focus on.

Web Design & Usability Reflection
Upon entering this course I knew I had a lot to learn about Web Design and Usability but had no idea it would be so in depth which made me have a new found respect for web designers and their craft. The course was very insightful and hands on and really helped me understand what keeps Internet users attention. Learning about Findability and its components and how important they are in building a successful website was a great eyeopener. The fact that findability is present in all aspects of the website is groundbreaking, including usability, SEO, design, copywriting, marketing, development, accessibility & information architecture. It is very important to have a website that is functional and organized so you can engage with your users right away upon their entrance. Findability  is also imperative that fans and customers can be able to find your website to know that you exist in the marketplace which is the most important aspect besides everything that goes into making a great website. I will utilize the concepts in Web design & Usability accordingly within my own business, I think this course alone has helped me understand what goes into designing your website as well as how a finished version should be. I learned that testing the websites through usability test and obtaining feedback as often as you can is very helpful for the success and gives you a first hand look at how traffic will respond. I want to be able to even appeal to all kinds of internet users including the blind by using voice scripts and making sure everything is detailed and informative while all the information is easily accessible. Even after my website is up and running I plan to continue to do usability test to always be a step ahead and to make sure everything I want to accomplish within the website is being executed and understood by my audience. I learned a lot of great techniques and picked up on some great reading materials I have bookmarked for my future success, looking forward to continuing my journey to mastery by implementing important details from this class to be successful.

New Media Marketing Reflection
Before New media marketing I wouldn’t of suspected all the components that go into it, coming into the course I had a small understanding of how to reach your customers only mostly thinking about the new age way of social media before recognizing alternative methods and tactics. This course has taught me a lot of the components used to conduct a proper marketing strategy. Understanding the customer is most important before marketing to the audience, utilizing influencers and gaining fans comes from that proper understanding. Initially I knew what brand ambassadors role was unconsciously because I am victim of being attracted to certain brands from the attention they get with using someone you know and respect. The class helped me realize their is a structure between the brand ambassadors and customers which is important for communication and components within that such as Brand advisory panels which serves as leadership councils for the best possible results. I’ve also learned your brand ambassadors are not exactly marketers for your brand but they communicate effectively to learn about your customers which in turn helps your marketing efforts. Receiving feedback is essentially most important and can give your brand the edge of what to capitalize on in the future campaigns or how to improve the brand overall. I’ve also found out about how essential mobile marketing has become, approximately a $30 Billion dollar industry in the United States and with technology growing rapidly that number is set to increase. Mobile marketing can be more direct and target broad and narrow audiences and experts call it the holy grail of marketing in the digital age because of this. Being effective in marketing is key to receive a great ROI and their are many components of mobile marketing to help any company achieve that goal. Consumers spend about 20% of their time on their mobile devices and the ability to market to customers based on their location makes it unlike any other medium.
