Amusingly, even the name "Montezuma Castle" is a creation, a more accurate name would be "Sinagua Apartments." The structures *abandonment* predates the birth of Montezuma by forty years, and the structure really only superficially resembles a castle. It is, however, no less impressive an engineering work as it is carved into the cliff face, shows masonry techniques, and mixed materials engineering.
