Kyle nuzzled his nose against Drew’s jawline, grinning all the while. He adored these little moments when Bri would disappear; he didn’t have to worry about hiding or second-guessing. “Pft, we all know those are just excuses. It’s because you’re the hottest guy I’ve ever seen,” Kyle crooned, beginning to pepper kisses along the groove his neck.
He could feel the warm air escaping Kyle, the soft breaths that seemed to somehow mirror is own if only in his mind. “Do you not own a mirror, Kyle?” he easily quipped back managing to spin so that he could rest his head against Kyle’s shoulder. “You smell nice, new cologne?”

Drew was trying to bust a move, which wouldn’t have been easy in his dat boi costume, but for the night he had opted for a ‘damn daniel’ costume which made the ridiculous moves slightly easier. “Damn Kyle, back at it again with that hot body,” he whispered as he danced up to his best friend who he could barely see in the dark. The dark was the best place for hidden kisses so he pressed one against his neck.

Drew had been tired of hiding for a long time, but he wasn’t sure that he was ready to tell everyone. Sometimes though, it felt like Kyle’s love was worth more than anything that existed in the world. “Kyle,” he breathed, leaning back slightly into the warm embrace, glad that for once Bri was gone. “It’s not that cold out, and besides I’m wearing a sweater.”
@drewdebeers
“Bro,” Kyle chuckled out, his voice teasing but also affectionate. He tried his hardest to make his ‘bros’ and ‘dudes’ sound as platonic as possible when he was with other people. This time, it didn’t have to. He grinned as he wrapped his arms around Drew’s waist, hugging him from behind. “It’s so cold out. I can’t believe you’re so warm.”

“Is this suppose to be fun because it seems like a lot of work with no real reward?” Shannon asked as he raked more leaves into the pile.
“Listen, you gotta have patience. So we rake all of these up, jump in them and have fun. And then we leave them there, because they’re good for the soil or something.”

“Oh, did you just compare me to a middle-aged mum?” his brows shot up in surprise but he couldn’t help but laugh a little at it. “Yeah, I see it. If I did my hair a bit to the left, I could blend in,” he joked with an eye roll and took the last drag of his cigarette. “There is nothing wrong with being poor but see, even poor people can have a TASTE.”
“I did actually, you gonna own up?” he asked, a single eyebrow raising. “you could totally make sugar free cookies for the pta, and have mimosas at sunday brunch.” he nodded, humming a jaunty sitcom toon. “spending fifty dollars on a bottle of booze is stupid even if you’re filthy rich.”

is that nick jonas? no, it’s just drew de beers, a sophomore student at lakeridge university who studies business. they are twenty-one years old, and identify as cisgender male. as with everyone else, they have secrets to keep. still, they are known to be fun-loving, but also obnoxious. ( drea, nineteen, est, she/her ). psd by ikilledtherp.
as the only son of a family who had large expectations, it was easy for drew to feel like he was letting them down. after all, he had never been any sort of prodigy - instead he was just a regular boy who cried when he fell down. and while his mom encouraged him to express his emotions ( perhaps she had seen a potential for him in the arts, we’ll never know ), his dad did everything he could to teach him to repress it. and given the boys instinctual need to make his dad proud, it didn’t take much for his dad to convince him to hide himself from the world.
he met kyle, and it felt like everything changed because suddenly there was someone who would let him just be himself without judgment. goofy young andrew, who preferred to be called drew and liked to goof around with his friends. and he started to grow into that personality, finally feeling as though he had found his place in the world, and with kyle by his side - his best friend, his ride or die - it felt nothing was impossible. like the stars could be their’s if they only tried.
and it was fun partying with kyle, and goofing off in class. but he knew deep down that his parents wanted more from him, and it wasn’t hard to see that he was disappointing them. so he tried to show an interest in the family business which lead to his father finally taking him seriously. they spent long days and nights together slowly bonding over the company which had been in the family for so long. it wasn’t all pleasant though for john de beers was a conservative man, and at times conversation would turn to drew eventually finding a wife and settling down.
it was during one of these talks that drew quietly asked what would happen if he didn’t want to marry a woman - a quiet, gentle love for kyle had been developing in ways that perhaps it shouldn’t have. the idea was immediately shut down and it was made expressly clear to him that being gay wasn’t an option, and whether his father meant to do so or not is irrelevant but drew began to distance himself from the family again. a storm of emotions seemed to revel in his brain, as he started to tear himself apart.
for kyle and drew were already dating albeit secretly, and drew couldn’t imagine his life without the other by his side. couldn’t imagine a future waking up in bed with anyone else even though it was obvious that he might have to if he wanted to keep his family in his life. he wasn’t ready to make that choice, so he just didn’t. he kissed kyle with butterflies on his stomach, and escorted various girls to banquets. and that worked fine for a while.
until his senior year of high school, his parents weren’t overly interested in his dating life but when it became obvious that he wasn’t going to find anyone himself - they intervened. and he tried to push the girl that they chose away, tried to give her a million reasons to leave but none of them seemed to work so he merely sighed and accepted his fate. perhaps, he should have spoken up but kyle has never been a fan of confrontation.
and so instead, he stayed with her and saw kyle on the side, gladly clinging to the one person in his life that seemed to love him for him. six months later, his parents handed him an engagement and ring with clear if unspoken instructions. an awkward proposal ensued and for unknown reasons she accepted. breaking that news to kyle was one of the hardest things that drew ever had to do, and he still wishes that he would have spoken up sooner.
he went to his friend, his lover, his confidant and told him the truth - breaking down in silent tears in a rare but potent show of emotion. surprisingly, kyle didn’t run like drew had expected, had mentally prepared for. and drew was relieved and kept telling himself that he would tell her. but four years seemed to fly by, with them both taking two years off of school to travel the world before heading back to classes. and he still hasn’t said anything - and he’s not sure he ever will.
they live together now, with the wedding date seemingly looming in the distance - and he knows that he has to do something. he just isn’t sure what or how. but with the ghosts taking over campus, it is beginning to look like he might not have a choice.

Kyle started laughing once Drew tried to take a shot— not at all disappointed with how things turned out. He took a giant glug of his bottle, bringing his hands up in the air. When the burning became too much, he keeled over and shook his head. He hacked out a laugh, before stepping closer to Drew. He grinned, his hooded eyes gauging on whether or not his friend could see him. Not that it mattered, he still held his bottle up, contemplated a millisecond before pouring the vodka at the beginning of his trousers. “You really think you’re gonna win, bro?” he teased.
He pulled the mask off causing vodka to splash all over his face and chest. He had seen Kyle cheating - and that’s what that was, cheating. “Of course, I’m going to win or I’m not Andrew Jackson De Beers the Third. Besides, the way I see it it’s a win-win situation,” he grinned, eyes roaming over his boy best friend’s body. “And I definitely got this - look my pecs can dance and splash alcohol.” He poured some alcohol on his chest before making his pecs flex causing the alchol to bounce all over his exposed skin.

“Whatever,” he shrugged his shoulders. it’s not like he missed Drew or couldn’t handle not being with him for longer than an hour. In fact, they didn’t even like each other when they were sober; only after alcohol, the guards were down. “See and this is where you are wrong. But you wouldn’t understand that, you have the palate of a PEASANT,” he scoffed.
It was sort of strange that they were friendly, given how they tended to clash and burn when there weren’t substances interfering. But Drew wasn’t about to waste any sort of time wondering about their relationship - even drunk there were better things to do. “Rather be a peasant than middle-aged mom who can’t pick which fancy wine to serve,” he retorted. “Besides, there’s nothing wrong with being poor, please join us in this century.”

“The waves are shit today so I wouldn’t waste my time.” The boy had actually gotten into surfing a few years before, having never really gone to the beach until he moved here. Moving to lay down, he padded in heading for the sand.
“Bummer,” he sighed, having been hoping that he could use surfing as a way to get away from the house - and honestly Brianna. “How you doing, O’Connell?”

“IT’S YA BOI,” he yelled despite everything he heard, taking off the horse mask as he did so. A drunken grin was plastered onto his face, his auburn hair a mess. Kyle’s fingers went to his chest, as if offended, by his grin turned mischievous and he started to lick the alcohol off. “Is that the challenge of the night then? If so, I accept, dude,” he said slowly. He offered the horse mask to Drew, lifting up his bottle of vodka. “To spilling as much as I can onto myself!” he hollered— and not given the context, the crowd around him whooped in response.
Drew nodded with a bit of a grin whispering, “My boy.” There was something so beautiful about messy drunk Kyle - it was so purely him. “If that’s the challenge, I don’t need this anymore,” he said, shedding the shirt that he had came to the party in. It fell to the floor, and he left it there not caring about being in possession of one less shirt. Happily putting on the horse mask, he echoed the crowd’s whooping before trying to take a shot. He managed to get some in his mouth but mostly it just dribbled down onto his chest.
