FOR THE FIRST TIME IN a very long time, monika can feel the tendrils of stress wrap around her nerves. though, on the exterior, nobody would be any the wiser to the inner tension consuming the blonde. the neutral disposition she wears like a mask, she uses to hide any underlying trepidation that festers beneath the iron façade she maintains with ease. the familiarity of a fellow faust allows a sudden calm to seep into her bones, lulling her into a temporary state of relaxation. gradually, she looks at drew, a small hum crawling up her throat. “ you make a solid point there. nothing screams individuality like cutting off your own ear. but, all for the art, i guess, ” she quips, faint amusement etching itself onto her doll-like features. “ long enough. there’s only so many paintings a girl can stomach before boredom starts to creep in. ” it was half-true: by now she had somewhat tired of staring at an assortment of art pieces, all seeming to blend together into a jumbled-up pile of colours and textures in her mind. yet, she refused to let the beginning of weariness prevent her from remaining hawk-eyed as ever. “ how long have you been here? ”

drew found himself checking his surroundings every few minutes, tonight wasn’t one where he would be fully allowed to let his guard down — though that’s typically how things were out in public. “all for the art, now you speak about the man who cut off his own ear and his works appear in your mind or at least his name will — there’s the fame that he wanted.” there was more to tonight than the art, it acted like a good distraction for now, but the blonde that stood in front of him had a point...as time went on it was hard to keep himself entertained by art. “that’s probably why they included the bar, so they could attempt to keep the crowd around.” he shrugged his shoulders, taking a moment to look around at each piece of art that rested against the walls, slowly checking to ensure the two of them were still alone. “an hour, maybe two? is it bad that i’ve already lost count?”

VIBRANT BLUES DRINK IN THE sight before her, scrutinising every square inch of the canvas that hung on the wall in front of her, silently wondering about the unspoken tragedy that bled into each paint stroke. monika has never been one to stop and take a genuine interest in art but when faced with nothing but art, she did find herself somewhat fascinated by it. a figure glimmers in the corner of her eye and she manages to tear her attention away long enough to throw the other a fleeting glance. “ i’ve never really understood all the hype around van gogh. not with the likes of monet and da vinci out there. but every time i see this, the one thing i always come back to is that he cut off his own ear. never mind the fact he apparently gave it to a woman afterwards. ” at that, sculpted brows knit together in an expression closely resembling stupefaction. “ the poor fool. what a waste it is to have talent only for it to consume you to the point you shoot yourself dead. ”

drew was nursing a glass of whiskey, a way to keep himself busy without actually letting the alcohol mess with his focus. there was a mission at hand and he knew better than anyone that even surrounded by art he needed to keep his eyes pealed. a head of blonde hair allowed him to lower his guard, slightly, knowing that the woman that stood beside him wasn’t a threat. “everyone seems to flock to the tortured soul, he let his creativity overwhelm him and that clearly was his downfall. the ear thing was fucking weird on all accounts, but it does give him an edge against the rest...i suppose that’s where the appeal comes in.” he shrugged. “have you been here long?”
