Just got Gotham/kc tickets so pretty happy about Sonnett getting the early exit today after a very solid performance. Would like it if she got to rest next game but I feel like she could play some now?

Interesting positioning by Emma. Lilly sitting much deeper as an 8 than someone like Lindsey would playing the same position. Been hard at times to tell who’s the 8 and the 6 between her and Coffey.

Sonnett has had a couple really nice steps into the midfield on defense. Especially that balk right before the halftime whistle. Sonnett/girma is definitely our #1 pairing if we needed to play a real game right now. (Emma already knows, im just saying)

Really wanted a sonnett/girma cb pairing. Didn’t think we’d get it because I thought Emma would split up the experience but I’m excited (as long as Sonnett isn’t playing both games)

Just listened to the soccer over gotham podcast for the first time. Pretty good overall but they’re really committed to calling sonnett emily and it’s just a weird choice. I know it’s technically her name but no one else connected to soccer ever calls her that and I wasn’t a huge fan.

Sonnett really showing the whole next generation how it’s done. The fact that she can’t say what her recovery routine is because sonnett might get mad just makes me that much more curious (she does like to keep things secretive)

Nice praise for sonnett from Tara (and Sam of course) on today’s episode of the women’s game. Tara talked about sonnett helping her during her first national team camp, and teaching the newbies about the value of versatility in the national team.

The only time I saw good penalty kicks from Gotham was during last year's Summer Cup tournament, in a shootout against Chicago. But out of those 5 players who took them, only 1 is still with the club!

Yea I’m not going to lie I didn’t watch much of that summer cup. But since those players are mostly gone I guess I didn’t miss much in terms of pk scouting. Maybe akb is too good at saving them and ruined everyone’s confidence (jk)

jess took the fifth penalty in the uwcl quarters against lyon and it was incredible. Dunno where she had been hiding that one but I'd definitely be tapping her for some. Though tbf she's been living with akb for 8 yrs im sure you pick something up. Other than that geyse gives good penalty taker vibes 😅

Yea I’d definitely be willing to give her an opportunity. I think test people out and see who looks good at this point.

Who else can take penalties on the team because this is embarrassing at this point. I saw Carter take a rocket of a penalty for Chelsea, obviously AKB has a history of doing well at them and scored the only one I've seen her take. Esther has made some but missed a bunch. How are they not completing training with a whole penalty shooting session?

Yes it seems like it’s going to be Esther unless midge draws the foul and then she wants to take it. I’m not sure either one of them are amazing at pks. I’d be open to seeing what Carter can do. Maybe schupansky? Having a goalkeeper be your pk taker would be very unorthodox even though I think they practice them the most? (based on my general understanding of keeper training). I love sonnett but her record and energy doesn’t scream solid pk taker to me. Definitely something they need to work on as a group

Decided I couldn’t handle this game anymore and went to bed. Checked the score like 5 minutes later and sofascore said sonnett had scored a penalty. Jumped out of bed and turned game back on to see and turns out they lied to me. I’ll still take it though
