I don鈥檛 think we loved each other. I don鈥檛 think we truly loved each other at all.
I think we were infatuated - infatuated by the sadness that consumed us, infatuated by the hope that was still in us, and infatuated by the love we wanted to give out and receive in return. We blossomed with one another鈥檚 stories and wilted with each other鈥檚 anguish. We found comfort in arms that temporarily held, found solace in hearts that beat rapidly, and found the courage to touch fire even when it left marks.
When we finally realized the love was burning bright, yet also burning everything in its way and burning out, it was too late. The love that had once brought us together was also tearing us apart.
No, I don鈥檛 think we loved at all. We may have believed we did at some point, but I don鈥檛 think love is supposed to burn you out.
