I am not someone who adheres to the belief that choosing a job you love means you’ll never work a day in your life. I dont wanna get on my soapbox about why rn, but just know I find that sentiment to be false in most people’s circumstances.
But!! If I were to give any advice to anyone just now entering the workforce or trying to find a new job, esp if your circumstances are similar to mine (burnt out/disabled, not college educated, generally averse to the idea of selling your labor to live), it would be not to find a job you love, but to find a job that doesn’t try to police how you express yourself.
You don’t necessarily have to /love/ what you do, but it truly does make it so much easier to get though the day if your corporate overlords are telling you what to wear, what you can/can’t do with your hair, whether or not it’s okay to have piercings or tattoos, if you can talk to your coworkers, etc. I know this is easier said than done, and I feel very privileged in my ability to show up to work looking however I want. Within reason. I would just always recommend being wary of jobs that have policies in place regarding your appearance.
I will also not get on my soapbox about how mandating that laborers conform to a unified “look” for the sake of “properly representing the company” is just a way to suppress them and their voices but. Do assume that at a company with strict appearance policies, you and your voice and opinions will not be heard.
Also, side note, talk to your coworkers about things like wages!
Also also never let the upper management pit you and your coworkers against each other for any reason. I mean this so seriously. No matter how annoying they are, you have to have worker solidarity. Yes, even with your annoying middle manager/shift lead. They’re being exploited too.
#sorry I’m on one today#idk what compelled me to say all of this. I just got moved to a new position at work and have been having revelations abt how smth as simple#as being able to wear my hair down and keep my curls healthy has drastically improved my quality of life and ability to function at work#which sounds so silly! but I really do hate being told what to do and how to look lmao#antiwork

lgbt discourse in the blue lock facility would be like a week of debates over the definition of bisexuality that all takes place in the baths and so many arguments over what counts as gay sex and a lot of discussions over whether it makes bachira sort of gay to walk around with his dick out so often or whether it makes him really really straight but by far the biggest uproar would be when chigiri comes under fire for calling someone a useless faggot and someone's like well obviously he can say it and all chigiri responds with is that he likes girls and when he said the word he meant it
#crying#Chigiri can say it I’m giving him the pass. bc it’s funny ofc#the most serious ‘is it gay to kiss your homies goodnight’ debate takes place and nobody is taking it lightly. no jokes there
