One of the (many) things that gets me is that I'm yet to see someone who wants the police to be dissolved suggest an alternative system which will stop people just straight up murdering others and will make sure people are keeping to the generally agreed laws of the land. The only take I ever see is basically saying that anyone who disagrees with the way you want to run things will be evicted/imprisoned/killed and NGL, that's just fascism babes.
The police have plenty of systemic problems in the UK which need urgent attention and I'm not even touching the issues in the US with their police, but personally I'm glad there are people who are willingly putting themselves into harms way for the rest of us.
Do the police need some reform? Yes.
Do the police need some serious new screening practices? Hell fucking yes.
At the end of the day, am I glad there are people I can call if someone threatens me and they will come and protect me? Yes. Of course I am.
I saw people calling the police "class traitors" last week. What were the police doing? Crowd control at a railway station to prevent anyone getting pushed onto the railway tracks or worse, a crush event. They were literally protecting drunk people from a potential massive casualty event and people were standing there screaming at them because it added 15 minutes to their journey.
This is one of my hard lines when it comes to discussing spicy topics with people. If you want to remove something but aren't willing to consider the actual consequences rather than your utopian dictatorship where your word is law, then you aren't serious about improving the world. You just want to be the bastard in charge.

The Saudi channel Al-Hadath reports that the body of Muhammad Sinwar, the de facto commander of Hamas’s military wing in Gaza, was found in a tunnel in Khan Younis where the terror leader was targeted by the Israel Defense Forces last week.
According to the report, the bodies of 10 of Sinwar’s aides were found with him.
It is also reported that there is evidence that the commander of the Rafah Brigade in Hamas’s military wing, Mohammad Shabana, was also killed in the strike.
Israel has not confirmed the deaths of either Sinwar or Shabana.
The strikes on Tuesday targeted an underground command compound below the European Hospital where Sinwar was believed to be sheltering.
(article continues)
why were Hamas commanders hiding in a compound underneath the European Hospital? thus removing its protected status and endangering any medical staff or patients who should have been there and able to safely access and utilize the hospital facilities?
again. why were Hamas commanders hiding in a compound underneath a hospital?

Russia was removed from the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) bc their broadcasters violated the European Broadcasting Union's (EBU) rules. Since the EBU runs the ESC, being sanctioned by or removed from the EBU means not being allowed to participate in the ESC. Russia was not banned from the ESC for bombing Ukraine. The ESC is, on paper if not in practicality, apolitical. It does not take sides (officially) in conflicts. As it currently stands, it can't ban countries for political reasons like being on a certain side of a war.
Israel is not banned because Kan, its broadcasting network that's part of the EBU, has not violated EBU rules. Even if you think what Israel is doing in Gaza is equivalent to what Russia is doing in Ukraine (it's not but that's actually irrelevant rn), it is not a "double standard" to allow Israel to participate but not Russia bc the reason for Russia's non-participation is separate from its actions in Ukraine.
Yet all these morons, past ESC contestants, are signing these stupid petitions saying shit like "[it] can’t be one rule for Russia and a completely different rule for Israel. You bomb, you’re out." There aren't separate rules! The bombs are actually irrelevant to why Russia got kicked out! This idea that Jews are powerful enough to be above the rules is literal Nazi conspiracy theory bullshit! Please shut the fuck up!!!!!

In collaboration with the Dnistrianskyi Center, Euromaidan Press presents this English-language adaptation of Dariia Cherniavska’s analysis on Finland’s role in Ukraine’s defense, recovery, and pursuit of justice.
Read the full article by Euromaidan Press here! The following is abridged.
Finland’s military assistance to Ukraine has grown significantly in both scale and purpose. Notably, Finland is one of the few countries that allows Ukraine to use its supplied weapons on Russian territory, reinforcing its firm stance on Ukraine’s right to defend itself beyond its borders.
In 2025, Finland launched a procurement program to supply Ukraine with new weapons manufactured domestically. This dual-purpose approach supports Ukraine’s defense needs and bolsters Finland’s own arms sector. These joint projects signal a shift from reactive aid to strategic co-production, building capacity for long-term defense.
Finland is a core participant in EU and UK-led training missions providing over 200 instructors to train Ukrainian troops in combat tactics and command skills.
Finland has been active in enforcing EU sanctions against Russia and finding ways to redirect frozen Russian assets. With European partners, it supported new frameworks to use the interest generated from frozen central bank assets for Ukrainian military and humanitarian purposes.
Modern warfare is digital, and Finland recognizes the threat. Through the IT Coalition, Finland has helped Ukraine reinforce its military communications and cybersecurity infrastructure.
In 2025, Finland also co-founded the Shelter Coalition to help Ukraine build modern bomb shelters, modeled after Finland’s own civil defense network. With 5,500 public shelters in Helsinki alone, Finland is sharing proven expertise in protecting civilians.
Ukraine is now one of the most mined countries on Earth. Finland has backed the Demining Coalition, supporting mine clearance through funding, equipment, and training.
Finland has also played a key role in helping stabilize Ukraine’s energy grid, particularly following Russian attacks on critical infrastructure.
Finland is also co-funding projects to upgrade Ukrainian infrastructure to EU standards, including investments in water safety, soil health, and energy efficiency.
Finland backs the creation of a special tribunal to prosecute the crime of aggression and actively supports the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children. Finland also contributes to broader international efforts to pursue legal redress for war crimes.
In April 2024, Finland signed a bilateral security agreement with Ukraine, locking in long-term commitments on defense cooperation, training, and industrial collaboration.
Finland’s support for Ukraine is strategic, sustained, and grounded in action. It reflects a clear understanding: Ukraine’s security is Europe’s security. From weapons deliveries and joint production, to civil protection, legal accountability, and postwar planning, Finland has become more than an ally—it’s a model for modern wartime partnership.
As other countries weigh how far to go in supporting Ukraine, Finland shows what full-spectrum commitment looks like—from battlefield to courtroom, and from frontline defense to long-term rebuilding.

Russia invading Ukraine is one of the most morally clear-cut conflicts, period. A former empire, much larger than its neighbour/prior colony, invades it due to longstanding revanchist fantasies of reclaiming its lost imperial glory. The smaller country has to fight back to ensure its survival, especially since its aggressor has repeatedly stated its intent to wipe it out even if it submits. Someone who supports Russian irredentism and imperialist warmongering is either someone profoundly ideologically poisoned, evil, or both.
