I’m shocked that a team of you conspired to conceal a predator from us, conceal it from us, the people who you said you could look after. I’m dumbfounded that you made a speech saying that you, doing such a thing, is unfathomable. I have to laugh, you said it in such a vague and convoluted way we thought you were talking about us.
I’m shocked that when two women were being bullied by a man, you told the women they were hysterical. I’m dumbfounded that you call yourselves feminists but prioritise the people, who qualify as men in your eyes, at every turn. Those women were so vulnerable, you had more than an inkling of how vulnerable they were, you knew enough, they were literally dying under your care and they put their trust in you, but you still failed them and dismissed them as hysterical riders of the hashtag metoo wave.
I’m shocked that you shamed sick, and ill people for being sick and ill, and scapegoated your shaming on the four “well” people in their cohort, and when I asked you not to use me as a scapegoat that way, you told me to get back in my box.
I’m shocked that when I asked to leave your course you cried more than I did.
I’m shocked that when four white students and an asian student, an asian student who said she felt silenced,- made a racist performance (which I don’t even understand), and we all found it racist, even eventually the students who made it, you suppressed and shamed the one black voice identifying racism. I’m dumbfounded that when one black person calls something racist you have the audacity to tell me they’re confused. I’m flabbergasted that two cit het white able bodied “woke” men said that they know more about race than sixteen 18 - 25 year olds in 2018, one of whom is a black non-binary person and another of whom is an asian non-binary person.
I’m shocked that two disabled women are asked to leave their choreography rehearsals because they’re inconveniencing their able-bodied classmates with their disabilities (one of whom is a critically lauded contemporary dance and ballet choreographer). I have to laugh. We felt so paralysed as their allies because we’re afraid of antagonising you.
I have to laugh that Glasgow based performance art festival celebrating 1968 social rebellion or whatever clashed with the Glasgow School of Arts People of Colour takeover. I have to laugh. Boujie. I hated it even more because the direction we were given was shit in my opinion and hardly anybody knew any better. I have to laugh.
I can’t believe I let my queer body be of service to a show celebrating heterosexual love, by performing heterosexual love but also performing exotically queer. What a joke am I.
‘Church of the Poison Mind’ is CPM if it’s initialled. It’s so funny how none of us acknowledged what we all knew to be an attack on the course. I didn’t even have any trauma from first year, except for when I was really shit in ‘the Big Freeze’ to my collaborators.
I’m not surprised that you gather a cohort of marginalised young people, survivors, and privileged rich kids, and ask them to exploit their traumas for self-help/art together.
I don’t like performing anymore. Y’all are out of your depth because by the time they get to third or fourth year most students have mental health problems that were worse than when they started smh
I think you’re six straight white cis able bodied rich neb-hippy professional artists and teachers who are telling brown/queer/POC’s/survivor/newly-stigmatisedPOC’s/disabled/newly disabled/mentally ill/increasingly mentally ill/working class/rich&white young people that you are taking care of them from now until the graduate. NAH Fam. you are really out of your depth and don’t know all the kinds of harm that you’re causing. I can’t even laugh because it makes me so angry that you ask people to search their souls and then break hearts like this.
