The great Dr. Steel Reveal
This is a post about Dr. Phineas Waldorf Steel, a former musician and entertainer that inspired thousands with his mad scientist schtick, and supposed plans for world domination through his music. And part of the allure was the mystery of his identity. It was a closely kept secret for many years, even after he ‘retired’ in 2011/12. The Administrators, defacto leaders of the Army of Toy Soldiers, have and do remain silent on the matter, more due to legal reasons that for any sort of respect, because even they don’t give a shit anymore.
Let’s not put much fanfare on this. The guy behind Dr. Steel is Rion Vernon. There’s no if’s or buts about it, though it’s understandable people doubt this, since when he was active, his fans did as much as possible to spread disinformation about his identity, while uploading his crap EEEEEEEEVERYWHERE.
In 2006′ish, the young lady known as Kato (or Sgt. Kato), who’s now one of the leading steampunk models and artists out there, moved from Wales to the US and married the bald headed man, not knowing what she was getting into. Recently, she’s announced her divorce (though never naming him directly), citing 10 years of emotional, psychological, and financial abuse. It was she who initially created the Army of Toy Soldiers (he never had ownership of the site or the community) before passing it on to people who actually cared about the community, rather than some selfish turd blossom.
Another person involved is the erotic artist, Dolly Little, who was Rion’s girlfriend at the same time (open relationship type thing). After Kato and Rion had separated, she had hoped things would improve. But it didn’t.
In both cases (and others), Rion systematically isolated his victims socially and financially, making them entirely dependent on him for everything. Dolly Little had to go as far as create a fundraiser solely to escape to the other side of the USA, and had to have a police escort to protect while she packed her things up.
Let’s talk about the Toy Soldiers for a moment. They started out as Dr. Steel’s street team, spreading the marketing, leaflets, music, etc, but more importantly giving meat to the mythos of a mad scientist with an army hell bent on world domination. It was all about having fun after all. It was when two fans, extremely dedicated and loyal, known throughout the entire community, passed away, that the Admins knew something was fishy, since either in character or out of character, Rion Vernon did not say a single word about them. Not even a ‘They will be missed’ or a thank you for that matter. Kato didn’t say anything either, but it’s likely that at this point Rion told her not say anything, who knows.
Unfortunately, the Army of Toy Soldiers did their job a little too well when it came to promoting Dr. Steel, as despite 5 years of having been a separate entity, promoting the musics, works and talents of their own, they are still associated with Dr. Steel, which sucks for them.
That’s all for now, but this post will get updated later with sources, probably some better explanations and so forth. For anyone wondering, no, this isn’t fiction, or fan theory, or anything like that. It’s confirmable. All of it.
