Susan MacKenzie, DVM, is a passionate veterinarian serving her patients at Southmount Animal Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Being a farm girl from the Brant County area, she commenced her career treating horses, cows, sheep and goats as well as dogs and cats. By 1988, Dr. MacKenzie was specializing in pet medicine and has never looked back since, building a thriving career in the veterinary medicine arena. In 1994, she launched Southmount Animal Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, and has enjoyed since helping keep her patients healthy and happy. Dr. MacKenzie and her husband still live on a farm in Flamborough, Ontario, where they raise goats and egg-laying chickens. Her pets are Lizzy, Sammy, Matimeo, Pikatu, and Felicity. Susan MacKenzie, DVM, studied at the Ontario Veterinary College of the University of Guelph in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. She received her doctorate of veterinary medicine in 1986 and has since gained over twenty-eight years of clinical experience. In addition, she continues to stay active in her field as a professional member of the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association and the Canadian Veterinary Organization. Dr. MacKenzie attributes her success to her true love for her patients. She is an avid reader of veterinary medicine journals and dedicates to horseback riding in her spare time.
