I know it's not a Sunday, but I just woke up from a nap and thought
Lip Sync Battle for charity, Consulate vs 27th precinct!
Who performs what? Who works the hardest at costume and choreography? Who wins? I mean EVERYBODY wins but whose charity gets the money?
Remember, kids: there are no wrong answers except "Lip Sync Battles weren't invented yet" and "This is too silly". At least one person (me) will find your idea interesting, though I'm willing to gamble (not with money, mind you) that I won't be the only one. If you're shy, try sending your response as an anonymous ask for me to publish!

In the episode Asylum we meet a side character named Sandor, who delivers both pizza and information to Ray Kowalski while the latter is temporarily trapped on Canadian soil. The two seem to have history, if their interaction is anything to go by - Sandor readily accepts that Ray "has to" hit him upside the head for not trusting Ray's judgement. Sandor is referenced again in a later episode (The Ladies' Man), where Fraser mentions the head-hitting in an aside. Seeing as Fraser was not present for the Asylum scene, it must be inferred that he has witnessed this "ritual" at other times. All of this begs the question: What kind of history do Ray and Sandor share? How did they meet? How did this "ritual" become a thing?
Remember, kids: there are no wrong answers except "The consulate is not Canadian soil" and "Ray Kowalski killed Volpe". At least one person (me) will find your idea interesting, though I'm willing to gamble (not with money, mind you) that I won't be the only one. If you're shy, try sending your response as an anonymous ask for me to publish!

Sharing this lovely idea with permission!
When Ray K gets a camera phone, he creates a folder on there labeled 'Ben's Butt'. It's just candid pictures of Fraser's butt. He's been collecting them since 2002 and yeah, those first few pictures are blurry and pixelated but damn it, it's the thought that counts.
Fraser knows about the folder. Fraser doesn't talk about the folder. Ray knows he knows about the folder. He teases him about the folder. Fraser pretends not to know what he's talking about.
Fraser also has a folder on his phone just of pictures of Ray: Ray dancing, Ray cooking, Ray playing with the dogs, Ray sleeping - cute domestic stuff.
But every now and then, when Ray's looking through the pics, he finds a zoomed in picture of his butt.

This week's question comes from the lovely @allofthebeanz, who's been wondering about the bureaucratic aftermath of the episode Asylum.
Did Ray Kowalski being arrested at the Consulate go on the record? And if so, on whose record, seeing as he was undercover as Ray Vecchio at the time? Or was it all waved off because was a setup anyway?
Remember, kids: there are no wrong answers except "Curling is not a sport". At least one person (me) will find your idea interesting, though I'm willing to gamble (not with money, mind you) that I won't be the only one. If you're shy, try sending your response as an anonymous ask for me to publish!

In the episode Dr. Longball, we hear that Ray Kowalski has gone to Mexico with a shady lady. And yet, when he's called to go undercover as a baseball player, he makes it back to Illinois in what can't be more than a few hours. Therefore, this week's question is:
Was Ray really in Mexico? If yes, how did he make it back so quickly? And if not, where WAS he?
Remember, kids: there are no wrong answers except "I have been thinking about cheese" and "that poncho is not fetching". At least one person (me) will find your idea interesting, though I'm willing to gamble (not with money, mind you) that I won't be the only one. In the episode Spy vs Spy, it's clear that Fraser has known his elderly friend H for some time - Fraser telling H "Always oat bran on Tuesdays" suggests that they meet regularly. This week's question is:
How did Fraser and H meet? What's their shared history?
Remember, kids: there are no wrong answers except "H is a coward" and "Old people smell funny". At least one person (me) will find your idea interesting, though I'm willing to gamble (not with money, mind you) that I won't be the only one. Just wondering your thoughts on the fact that in seeing is believing it is said that Ray, under hypnosis, says he was abducted by aliens?
This week's question comes courtesy of a lovely Anon, and I'm passing in on to you all because it's something I've been wondering about myself and I'd love to hear your thoughts! Is the existence of aliens who visit Earth canon in the Due South universe (I'm looking at the episode Starman in particular, and Fraser himself has come to accept he's from another planet)?
Was Ray Kowalski actually abducted by aliens when he was ten years old? If so, what happened? If not, what happened?
Remember, kids: there are no wrong answers except "Aliens built the pyramids". At least one person (me) will find your idea interesting, though I'm willing to gamble (not with money, mind you) that I won't be the only one. In the episode Dr. Longball, Fraser tells us that Diefenbaker has a "phobia about pink flamingos". This of course begs the question:
When and how did Dief acquire this phobia? Did he meet real flamingos? Lawn ornaments? What happened between the wolf and the flamingos?
Remember, kids: there are no wrong answers except "that's not important right now" and "Dief only pretends to study maps". At least one person (me) will find your idea interesting, though I'm willing to gamble (not with money, mind you) that I won't be the only one. My hc is that Fraser won't mind tattoos. He won't really get one on his own, but unless against RCMP regulations won't turn one down either if it has a specific meaning. A lot of first-world cultures practice tattooing and while for the Inuit tattooing seems to be practiced primarily among women he may have received one as an amulet? Also if RayK wanted to have one as a pair.
Thank you SO MUCH for sending in a reply to this post, Nonnie!

Besides filling in the blanks left by canon, the idea behind this blog is to get to know the characters better, find out who they are, look under the hood to see what makes them tick. A really good way to do that is to have a closer look at some of their traits and put them into a different context. So this week, we'll try another more speculative question.
If one of our characters got a tattoo, what would it be, and where would they place it?
Remember, kids: there are no wrong answers except "penis lol" and "tattoos are the devil's work". At least one person (me) will find your idea interesting, though I'm willing to gamble (not with money, mind you) that I won't be the only one. This week, let's talk about the episode "Dead Guy Running"! More than once, Lieutenant Welsh is asked about his bandaged thumb, but his only reply is "Nevermind!"
What happened to Lieutenant Welsh's thumb?
Remember, kids: there are no wrong answers except "His name is Captain Walsh actually" and "Nevermind". A question about the episode Eclipse has reached this blog from the ether! This week's question is:
Why does Ray Kowalski have a giant shamrock on his fridge?
Remember, kids: there are no wrong answers except "Ray's apartment is a dump" and "Kowalski is an Irish name". With the year of our beloved show's 30th anniversary drawing to a close, time to reflect on our fandom's long and storied history a little! For this blog, one particular question comes to mind:
What are your favorite common* fanons?
Remember, kids: there are no wrong answers except "Bob is a great father actually" and "there is an objectively better Ray". At least one person (me) will find your idea interesting, though I'm willing to gamble (not with money, mind you) that I won't be the only one. *uncommon fanons accepted also

With Christmas nigh upon us, this week's question is a very, very broad one that encompasses all of our characters' Christmases - past, present and future.
What are some of our characters' Christmas traditions? Who meets up for Christmas dinner? Do they give each other presents? Does anyone go to church? Let's collect any and all Christmas ideas, big or small!
Remember, kids: there are no wrong answers except "Bob Fraser was a great father actually" and "Fraser enjoyed being alone for Christmas". At least one person (me) will find your idea interesting, though I'm willing to gamble (not with money, mind you) that I won't be the only one. We know for a fact that Francesca likes to learn new things and takes classes - psychology and painting are two examples from canon. So this week, let's think about Frannie and answer the following question:
What other classes would she enjoy? What classes has she already taken?
Remember, kids: there are no wrong answers except "Frannie could wear hats she just doesn't want to" and "She's weird for liking Fraser". At least one person (me) will find your idea interesting, though I'm willing to gamble (not with money, mind you) that I won't be the only one. In Seeing Is Believing, Ray more or less admits to reading romance novels - the detail from the plot of Sword of Desire he mentions is too specific for him to not have read the book, and he seems excited to be able to finish Francesca's sentence. As someone who's not very familiar with the genre, this leads me to ask:
What are Ray's secret favourite romance novels or authors - past, present and future, as seen from when the show is set?
Remember, kids: there are no wrong answers except "Romance is not literature" and "Ray Kowalski can't read". At least one person (me) will find your idea interesting, though I'm willing to gamble (not with money, mind you) that I won't be the only one.
