today in bible study we discussed the “what ifs….?” in our life that hinder our progress

the voices of self doubt that stop us from moving forward out of fear

and how to deal when those voices are louder than the voice of God

pastor told us that

when you’re faced with “what if…” we ought to finish the sentence

and process through that fear

our minds should go “what if….?” and then “that would…” and then “God will…”

example:

“What if I apply to this job and i get rejected?”

then

“That would make me sad and disappointed and may even make me question my worth”

and then

“But God will provide new opportunities even if this one doesn’t work out. If I’m patient, God will provide”

it really was profound. we went around and talked about our big “what if…” questions that we have. and it never really occured to me to have a process and a logic to dealing with self doubt

i’m a person who even if i have doubts i will just work through it and getting through is the way i make myself feel like i’ve dealt with things

but it’s important to process our fears, to acknowledge those emotions, to feel the emotions, and then to remind ourselves that God is bigger than our emotions
