Variety of sunflowers?
You know, there are people that just love, love, love sunflowers. I guess I’ve never really been one of them. Never had a desire to plant sunflower seeds (prefer to eat them actually). But I do love driving by a whole field of sunflowers and what an awesome picture it makes.
So last year when I started making glass sunflowers for the garden, I never really expected how some people just can’t get enough of them. At first I did them in typical sunflower colors, then I switched it up between opaque glass and transparent glass, but that got boring quickly. And anyone that knows me, part of the reason I love doing glass is that I love it that no 2 items never turn out the same. So this year I’m shaking it up with different color combinations of sunflowers based on photos I run across. Feel free to comment and provide pictures of sunflowers for more inspiration.

Grandma Dorsie
It all started with grandma Dorsey (Doris). Well she wasn’t really my grandma, but she sure could have been. Since I had known her since I was about 2 years old and my real grand-parents were “Up North” and we didn’t see them that often. Doris and Andy were childless neighbors and pretty much adopted my parents and us girls as their kids and grand-kids. Both of them had such good hearts and we learned so much about how to be grateful for God’s wonderful creations especially things in nature, flowers, birds, bees, a bountiful garden. So my love of flowers and learning the varieties of Wisconsin garden flowers flourished for my mom, sister and I under the tutelage of Dorsie. I think of her often when I’m sitting outside relaxing and smelling and listening to the delights in my yard.
