Last week, IBM announced that the cognitive cloud computing system was being redesigned to develop Watson's Discovery Advisor. Researchers, scientists, and other people who try to test programs and hypotheses quickly using big data have never seen them
Because Watson is designed to understand natural sound clarity, researchers can process millions of data points that are usually impossible for humans. As a result, the project date can be reduced from year to week or day.
The ability to understand natural language problems is overwhelming. For example, you might ask, "I'm in Boston, I like basketball, what do you suggest, Watson?" You can get several answers: Celtics tickets, Boston College tickets, Harvard tickets. In the quiet season, Watson offered the opportunity to go to the Springfield Basketball Hall of Fame in Massachusetts. The company has used Watson this way. Retail solution based on Watson's Fluid, Inc. give the results of detailed requests, such as, "I took my wife and three children to a camp in New York in October and I needed a tent." Will you be able to diagnose and prescribe medication? What if you say you don't believe in pain (such as back pain, migraines, depression) and Watson doesn't believe in your subjective contributions? Here's another thing to think about: What if Watson can learn code? Why not? It's very difficult to assume that when Watson works with developers, one day he will be able to produce solutions based on natural language requirements. It's just as exciting and disturbing. If you want to enjoy Watson, read this work by Steve Lor in the New York Times (2013) about Watson in the kitchen. Just look - the kick is over.
Ed Lane from BBC News has written an interesting article about how technology changes disaster relief.
Consider the efforts of the Royal Air Force in the United Kingdom to distribute refugees in northern Iraq: water; food; and the technology needed for communication - energy for cellphones. Lane described the initiative:
