"And in terms of the shows you already love on this channel, you're going to keep seeing them too," Anthony says with an easy smile.
"And, cut!" Nicole calls from behind the camera. "That's perfect, Anthony. I think we're good to go."
"Awesome," he exhales, standing up and wiping his sweaty palms on his pants. "Ian, how are we doing on time?"
Just out of view of the cameras, his husband—his husband!—looks up from his watch and smiles. "Still running early," Ian says, relief obvious in his voice.
Anthony crosses the room to him, lacing his inked fingers through Ian's unmarked ones. The production lights glint off of their matching gold wedding bands, classic and simple. Ian looks up at him with blue eyes that shine like the sun on a clear day. Anthony knows no real sunshine could ever compare.
"I'm so sorry again," he half-whispers, ghosting his lips over Ian's knuckles just to watch him blush. "God, if it were any other video—"
"Anthony, seriously, it's fine," Ian laughs. "But if you're all set…"
"Yeah. Let's go," Anthony says. "Nicole, if we're good, Ian and I are gonna take off."
"Absolutely!" Nicole trills, dashing over to wrap him in a warm hug. "And I'm so sorry, guys, seriously. I don't know how the original footage got corrupted, but thank god we caught you before you left. Y'all are lifesavers."
"Well, it wouldn't have been right for the fans to hear this from anyone else," Anthony says as Nicole squeezes his shoulder and pulls away. "Let's just hope they don't flip too bad when they hear the real news."
"Have an incredible honeymoon, you two," Alexcina calls.
"Thank you guys," Ian says. "Now, if you all don't mind, I think my husband and I have somewhere to be."
Anthony grins, squeezing Ian's hand where it's still entwined with his. He knows Ian put a little extra sauce on the word "husband" as a bit, but he'll never tire of hearing it anyway.
They turn to leave, only to find Amanda Barnes blocking the doorway. "Wait!" she yells. "You can't leave yet!"
"...why?" Ian asks, raising an eyebrow. "Amanda, we have a flight to catch."
"Because, um, because," Amanda stutters, tossing worried looks around the room.
"Amanda, is everything okay?" Anthony asks.
Just then, the walkie on her hip crackles to life. "Amanda, we're ready in the foyer," says a voice that sounds suspiciously like Marcus.
Amanda exhales, dropping her arms. "Okay," she says with a crooked grin. "Now you can leave."
"What the fuck do you have pla—"
Ian's cut off as Anthony pushes the door open to a deafening roar. It takes a moment for his vision to adjust to the near-blinding fluorescent lights, but when it does he's greeted by the sight of nearly the entire cast and crew, dressed to the absolute nines and cheering like they're at a Beyonce concert. They flank the path to the exit like a phalanx of adoring fans—or, Anthony realizes, pieces coming together in his mind's eye, like wedding guests waiting outside a church for newlyweds.
"What is this?" Ian yells over the din as Mallory and Erin appear, shoving matching costume wedding veils onto his and Anthony's heads and small bouquets into their free hands.
"Surprise!" the girls giggle in unison, stepping back to reveal their bewildered bosses.
"Go on, then! Don't just stand there, you have a flight to catch!" Nicole laughs from the studio behind them, giving Anthony a playful shove.
Tentatively, he takes a few steps forward, his hand still locked in Ian's. Someone—Spencer, maybe?—wolf whistles, and people start tossing handfuls of rice and confetti in the air. The confusion melts into joy as they continue down the makeshift aisle, their friends leaning out to shake their hands or pull them into quick hugs. He looks over to see Ian laughing, joy plain on his face as Courtney pulls him into a warm embrace. Both of them have the beginnings of tears in the corners of their eyes.
When they finally reach the parking lot, they find that Ian's car has been given the full wedding treatment. Even from the door, Anthony can see the cabin is full to bursting with red and blue balloons and a gaggle of Kickstart and LaCroix cans have been haphazardly tied to the back bumper. "Not beating the marriage allegations," reads a beautifully calligraphed sign in the back windshield.
"Guys," Anthony says in awe. "You really didn't have to do all of this."
"We know," says Chanse, resting his chin on Anthony's shoulder with a cheeky smile.
"But you deserve it!" Angela chimes in.
"We couldn't be happier for you," Erin says, a rare moment of sincerity. She gathers him and Ian into a quick hug, then pulls away, steeling her face into its usual expression of mild boredom. "Now get the heck out of here, will ya? And I better get pictures from Romania or whatever weird ass place you two dorks picked."
"We love you too," Ian murmurs, a shade more earnest than he'd allow on a normal day, and she cracks a real smile. Anthony's heartstrings tug a little more, playing a happy little tune inside his chest.
They allow themselves to be shepherded into the car, pausing only to toss their bouquets into the crowd; Anthony nearly cries laughing at the sight of Chanse and Trevor elbowing people out of the way to try and catch them. It's Bailey and Arasha who succeed though, earning their own set of "oooooohs" from the crew. Shayne and Damien help clear balloons off the seats so the newlyweds can actually fit.
"Thank you guys!" Anthony yells as he slides into the passenger seat. "We love you all so much! See you next week!" Courtney blows him a kiss and he pretends to catch it in the air, pressing his hand to his stubbled cheek. She claps harder, a single joyous tear streaking down her cheek.
"Well," Ian laughs when they're finally situated, his hand resting on the gearshift, wedding ring sparkling in the late morning sun. "Ready to go?"
Anthony leans in and kisses him, basking in the sweetness of the moment. Ian's blushing when they break apart.
"Yeah," Anthony says, resting his ringed hand atop Ian's. "Let's get the fuck out of here."
Ian grins and shifts into first gear. They sail away on a river of whoops and cheers, still smiling all the way to the airport.

"Rock?" Nicole calls, knocking on the cubicle wall before she ducks into the editing bay. "Hey, you wanted to see me?"
"Hey, Nicole. Yeah, I think we might have a little problem," Rock calls from his computer. "Come take a look."
She traipses in and squints over his shoulder at the screen. He's working on the Smoshalike announcement. A frame of Anthony dominated the screen, sitting nonchalantly on the couch with his hands folded together. For the life of her, she can't tell what the problem is.
"What's wrong?" she asks, and Rock looks up at her like she's nuts.
"Seriously?" he asks, zooming in on Anthony's hands. "Look."
It takes her a moment, but she finally gets it: the bastard had forgotten to take his wedding ring off. It sits on his finger like an elephant in a linen closet, just waiting to be unleashed on the Internet at large.
"Fuck," she says.

Burn it to the ground
ianthony
Rating: E
It’s been two years since Anthony “walked away” from Smosh for the second time, shouldering the blame while Ian stayed behind to keep the company afloat. They didn’t part on good terms, and nothing between them was ever properly resolved. But an unexpected encounter at a media summit Anthony hadn’t even wanted to attend brings it all crashing back.
Ao3 link: Burn it to the ground
#this was a really good read!!#it really got me when they started getting all sappy at the end (I think they’re gonna be ok 🥹)#ianthony

it's interesting because we did have to let go of our friendship and find each other again later.

i was listening to some noah kahan the other day and some of the lyrics definitely reminded me of divorce era ianthony, like
I'm in the business of losing your interest / And I turn a profit each time that we speak
just makes me think about how they said their conversations got more and more surface level as time went on 😭 and how they felt like they couldn't talk about everything anymore
this one: You kept on driving straight and left our future to the right / Now I am stuck between my anger and the blame that I can't face
and this one: No, I am no longer funny 'cause I miss the way you laugh / You once called me forever now you still can't call me back
remind me so much of how during that era they basically only texted for birthdays and things like that, and how much it must have hurt to go from childhood best friends to that
i'm so happy they found each other again <3

been rewatching lunchtime with Smosh (podcast) and one thing I love is how ian and anthony can not STAND to let the other one tell a story solo. damn near every time one gets going, its
“oh, remember [insert random detail]?” or
“no, you’ve got it wrong, it actually went like this” or
“i remember that too!” and then the other one starts telling a bit of the story and they just switch off, or
“don’t forget about [important detail]”
at this point they’re finishing each other’s sentences 😂 and I love to see it

Ianthony camping trip au!!!
YESS!! Maybe a romantic hiking trip to a waterfall or something (planned by Ian ofc, he knows all the spots I'm sure) and perhaps some stargazing?? And some late-night campfire talks that turn into early morning campfire talks because time flies when you're with your bff/life partner in the middle of nowhere.
