"I hate how people make everything about shipping instead of doing serious literary analysis" says person who could have started an interesting literary analysis discussion of their own if only they'd stop bitching about shippers for 5 seconds.

Idk why I have NEVER seen this hc before, but, hear me out, Daring Charming with an eating disorder.
Like, as a character who's so ultra obsessed with his looks, is always praised as 'perfect', and who's self worth must be so directly tied to how people view him, don't you think he must feel pressured to keep it that way?, think of him freaking out when he turned into the beast in Epic Winter, literally exclaiming "Without my looks, I'm nothing" to Rosabella.
And with parents that are probably also really fixated on the Charming family image, parents that we know make Dexter and Darling feel pressure, in a world where fairytale princesses are already pressured to be so perfect, I can imagine Daring picking up some of these things without them even being directed at him.
Like, I can't stop thinking about his mom mention weight offhandedly to Darling, 'don't eat that, a moment on the lips a lifetime on the hips', or making a point of her and Darling never eating dessert at the dinner table, or even their father teasing Dexter for being more 'fat then muscle' and poking his sides.
Or in a relative or family friend who says 'you should watch what you eat, otherwise you'll end up like me when you're forty' and laughing, or a reporter who something like 'is it just just me, or is Daring Charming starting to look a little bit chubby?, better watch the tarts, Daring' live, like their both just funny jokes while Daring starts to feel like he's going to be sick, subconsciously wondering if maybe he is getting fat and does need to watch what he eats.

This is your semi frequent reminder that there is no official AO3 app
All those are unofficial and available on the Google play store as of August 13th 2025. They mirror AO3's content and insert ads, for which the developer gets paid by page impression (that's every time the ad appears in the fic you're reading) not just clicks.
No money goes to AO3, nor to the fic writer. It goes to the person who did the bare minimum.
Many of these apps have poorly worded or non existent privacy policies, so they may also be mining as much data as possible and selling that on to unknown third parties.
Please, just use the official AO3 site and the browser.

"I sort fics by kudos and only kudos on stories with high kudos counts, why aren't there more stories with high kudos, I ran out of things to read." You're part of the problem.
"Authors artificially inflate comment counts by thanking people, I can't find anything with a real comment count to read." No they fucking are not, they're grateful for engagement.
"I can't read anything under 100k." That's the majority of fics you're ignoring, most novels aren't even that long.
"I don't have time to look for the incredibly rare diamond in the rough, so I won't read anything below a certain amount of kudos, comments, and hits." Those fics are popular because people gave them a chance and then snobs like you found them.
"I won't read anthing with a single typos." You made typos in that sentence, get off your high horse.
"One singular author didn't thank me for commenting, I'm never commenting on any fic again so I don't get burned." You're punishing people because someone didn't give you engagement they don't owe you that they might not have seen.
"This fic is three months old, it's so old, it doesn't matter if I comment or kudos, it's old." Fics do not have expiration dates, comment and kudos.
You're killing your fandoms with your snobbish behaviors.
#U know how to find fics u want to read?#Use the search filters for the tags u want and scroll๐คฏ๐คฏ๐คฏ#(some of the most heart wrenchiningly gorgeous fics will be found by just scrolling through a ship u like)#(I've quite literally found one of my all time favs by not even sorting by any tags at all. Rawdogging ao3)
