A little good news and bad news

Good news: Ever after high is not a toxic fandom and I say we are probably tight knit fandom.

Bad news: there is only like 12 of us

Maddie has such potential. She deserved to be allowed to be sad. Not just the crazy ( or shall I say, mad?) best friend. She can be crazy and sad and caring. Because she’s a human! And reducing her to comic relief SUCKS!

If I'm being honest I think Maddie's and Raven's friendship in ever after high is underrated in the series, books and even within the fandom itself. Like Maddie is Raven's best friend and the first person to not have judged her for who she's daughter off, despite Maddie having had every right to be weary of her due to what Raven's mom did to her home of origin; wonderland.

Like the evil queen invaded her home and made it hard to even go back to wonderland or even be able to cross back and forth from ever after and wonderland, by making a magical border that poisoned her home and made it difficult to even be able to live in it, and yeah, she's lucky that she was one of the few people who got evacuated from wonderland, but she misses her home.

And yet the first time she met Raven, despite having all the right to despise her for what her mom did to her and other people, and be weary of her, she instead doesn't judge her for that and chooses her as her best friend, and realizes that Raven is nothing like her mom and just accepts her best friend as who she is, and even cheers her up when she's down due to everyone else judging her, for who's she's the daughter of...

Yet that kinda gets forgotten by almost everyone, which is kinda really sad because in one of the books ; A wonderlandiful world ; Maddie, talks to the narrators ; who narrate what happens in her world to keep her and other fairytale stories alive, while not controlling their free will ; how she's aware she's just supposed to be a comedy relief side character that can't be anything but funny and how she's supposed to be brushed over in the narrative for the sake of other characters. And that literally does happen in the series, in the fandom, and later on in the books as she's sort of just written or seen there without being given proper character development or attention at all, that's not off character completely for comedy relief for other characters to exist but, not her.

And that's tragic. We don't talk about Maddie enough nor about the characters friendships with each other enough, at all.

I notice different opinions in the EAH fandom on Apple White. One is “Apple is so sweet and innocent and kind” and the other is “Apple is so selfish and a bitch.”

Both can be true. Apple is not an innocent little bird. She works hard to get what she wants, she’s a leader and proactive. She is selfish in wanting her happily ever after over Raven’s needs and happiness. And she has a closed mindset, the “royal” mindset, the “nothing can change from the destiny” (for example, she can’t grasp something like Hunter x Ashlynn).

But Apple is also a kid. And we see in Dragon Games that her mother puts a lot of pressure on her to be perfect, and better than Raven. And she’s also super kind and cares about her friends. And like I said before, she’s proactive and hardworking, and that’s not a bad thing, to be ambitious. I think she would make a great leader. And she’s smart (we see that in chemistry).
