I just think everyone should take a moment to consider the question "what is your visual shorthand for cruelty?" and then follow it up with a critical "and who taught you that?"

specific examples include but are not limited to

why is an evil timeline character design disabled? (why do the heroes go through equally punishing battles and never lose an arm, a leg, an eye?)

why are the futuristic scifi terrorists uniformly darker skinned? (why are the heroes so much lighter?)

why is the greedy boss fat? (why are the heroes skinny?)

why is the criminal mastermind heavily scarred? (why is the brooding, traumatized hero unscathed?)

why is the predatory creep a bearded person in a dress and makeup? (why are none of the heroes trans women?)

who taught you that this is how things are?

how long do you plan on repeating it?

PSA for artists:

I had a very frustrating time tonight trying to find simple images of animals for art references - everything everywhere is just ai bullshit. Thankfully I have old folders ("old" lol, from two years ago) of images I could refer to to help me, but not everyone does.

Someone shared this with me - eliminating certain things in searches might help:

thing-you-want-to-search -"stable diffusion" -"ai" -"midjourney" -"open art" -"prompt hunt"

This will help filter out garbage.

If you're pro-AI, get away from me. AI is the burning of Alexandria. The poisoning of the world's well. We used to have all the information in the world in our pockets, and now it's just incomprehensible nonsense. It's devolution of everything good about humanity in every way.

Thank everything libraries still exist. They'll soon be the only place we can go to research anything.

i made a tool for creating gradient text! it's similar to this great site, but with a few additional features:

extract a color palette from an image

paste a string of hex codes to load the colors

AO3 export mode (it's a bit of a pain in the ass but it works)

My florist shack, located in Grampleton Fields. I made this shed specifically to house my Quaint Living flowers.

There's so many flower-related machinery in this shed! Mostly from WAG and Cornucopia Artisan Machines, but also some from Quaint Living.

Unlike my other shed, I usually use this shed to craft floral artisan goods for me to keep, instead of sell.

listened to most of The Art of War while hanging clothes at my job earlier and I'm going to just distill down the real advice for y'all without the twenty thousand similes and metaphors and such

Wars are expensive have them really fast

Don't kill your soldiers they need food and stuff

But sometimes put your soldiers into inescapable life or death situations because that's how you really get them to be workin' hard instead of hardly workin', y'know

Have more guys than the enemy and be smarter. The best way to win a war is to have every single favorable condition for winning a war. Hope that helps

went to my best friend’s house last night and saw a little plushie dog and plushie cat that had been sewn together down the middle into a two-headed chimera. I said, “did you do that?” she said, “yes, I saved them.”

turns out at her old job when the last two plushies hadn’t sold and became deadstock, her boss told her to cut them up and throw them out. so she cut them each in half, preserved their heads, and then rebuilt them together.

cannot stop thinking about the way these little plushies were approached with the instinct of a Vampire or some sort of ancient god. “Let me save you [turn you into a monster].”
