thinking today about Sansa marrying some nice benevolent lord after the war and giving him a son or a daughter and maybe then commencing a relationship with sandor who obviously stayed by her side after all this time. thinking about her children aside form her eldest having steely grey eyes and almost black hair with a reddish undertone.
and maybe the gruff guard spends too much time training sansa’s sons with sword and laughing with her daughters in the solar, and maybe lady sansa smiles too brightly when she looks at them. and when he catches her look his eyes crinkle too and they stare at each other and marvel at what life they have created together and how much happiness it has brought them.

…this was a bitter, tormented soul, a sinner who mocked both gods and men. He served, but found no pride in service. He fought, but took no joy in victory.
Sandor Clegane was a man in torment.

"I could keep you safe," he rasped. "They’re all afraid of me. No one would hurt you again, or I’d kill them."

I would be gladder if it were the Hound, Sansa thought. Harsh as he was, she did not believe Sandor Clegane would let any harm come to her.

♛ ASOIAF AU ♛ ↴
(based on the original outline)
Sansa and Joffrey are wed and shortly she gives him a golden-haired son. Soon the capital's glory and splendour starts chipping away and Sansa has to face the harsh reality of the court life and her young husband. Sansa misses her family and regrets certain choices she made herself and laments about others she had no control over. Not wanting to plunder into despair even further, the young queen takes matters of her heart into her own hands and seeks comfort with an unlikely friend — her husband’s sworn shield. The man is a grim and brutal warrior but Sansa quickly finds that hardened armor he built around himself might have a weakness yet.

i remember you listed sansa once as one your fav female characters, and i got reminded of it when i saw the -gorgeous- fanart of you reblogged, so i was wondering what part of her character draws you in the most ??? like, in-universe of her as a girl in westeros and out-of-universe as a litterary character ??? tysm for gracing the dash when hotd tumblr is being particularly aggravating ❤️
sansa is my baby, my darling, my favorite character in the series. she is incredibly, incredibly dear and special to me. and i disagree passionately with most other self-described sansa fans in their read on her. if you were on tumblr ~2011 you know the line: contra to the misogynists who denigrated sansa as a whiny, sniveling, spoiled little cunt - it really was that bad - they went no, actually sansa is a clever, burgeoning player of hard politics who will master the game with her feminine social guile to come out on top! this is in its own way maybe as offensive to me as the overt misogyny.
sansa is a child. she is a little girl. she is not a particularly remarkable one. she is pretty, and intelligent, and compassionate, but so are many girls. she is a very normal child thrust into a situation of captivity, confinement, and constant abuse and terror. her story does not follow any of the frameworks of celebrated female “agency” because she is a terrified little girl and hostage who is being physically and sexually abused. she does not have much latitude to change her situation or effect escape. she has as of yet not a single shred of power, political or otherwise. she is moved around as a piece by the adults who control her fate and treat her like meat. and yet she’s heroic to me - her narrative is about the brave and almost entirely inward battle to maintain moral and psychic integrity in these circumstances. to remain herself, to remain the person her beloved lost parents raised her to be. her story tracks the imaginative resources of the child in that situation with an attention and sensitivity and tenderness that i think is extraordinarily rare and which i don’t really have the words to thank grrm for.
i’m actually going to start crying as i type this, it moves me so much, but the chapter in a song of swords where she is married to tyrion - who although as unwilling as she is is an adult man who is a member of the family who has killed both her parents and her older brother and held her captive and overseen or overlooked her abuse - and she takes the tiny, petty revenge that is the only one available to her, cruelly on the grounds of his disability: she refuses to kneel during the ceremony so he can put her marriage cloak on her, unmanning him by forcing him to call for a stool and feeling vicious satisfaction in his obvious humiliation and the laughter of the guests, because she is also just a typical little girl in her snobbery, her inherited bigotries, in her capacity for small-minded meanness. and the thing is she owes tyrion nothing. every bit of revenge she exacts on him would be her just due for her total lack of autonomy and tyrion's complicated role in it. but she then feels shame. and kneels so he can kiss her cheek, or she kisses his, i can't recall precisely. what a fucking thing. this very normal little girl exceeds everyone around her in breadth of soul, the only possession she cultivates with this heartbreaking courage against its attempted destruction. i'll love her forever.

the way sandor is simultaneously talking to sansa, his sister, and himself here genuinely makes me want to cry so hard I puke onto the carpet
