STAR WARS HYPERSPACE TRAVEL TIMES: As a disclaimer, a lot of this is going to come from Legends info, but I feel reasonably confident in using them because LFL does still operate on things like this very often.  You can’t count it as hard canon, not until it appears in some story or guidebook or is confirmed through word of god, but until then I’d give it a solid 80-85% chance of being accurate. As a secondary disclaimer, you also can’t count on this to always hold true in-universe for stories because often times things happen “at the speed of plot”, meaning there’s no way Sidious should have been able to get to Mustafar to, uh, rescue Anakin as fast as he did, unless we’re assuming Anakin hung around on Mustafar for like eight days after killing the Separatists and then another eight days before Sidious found him.  (Well, I guess if anyone could survive on hate that long, it’d be Anakin.  We know Maul survived on hate when he should have died, too.  But, realistically, I think we’re just not supposed to think about it.) RESOURCES: - The excellent Astrogation Computer, which will calculate the travel time for you!  It doesn’t have every system, but if you know a nearby one (check the galaxy map to find a nearby planet) you should be able to get an accurate travel time.  Some examples above:  Coruscant to Naboo with a premium hyperdrive engine is 6.65 days.  Coruscant to Mustafar is 8.16 days.  Coruscant to Naboo is 7.96 days.  Etc. - Star Wars Galaxy Map, which should have all the major planets if you need to find where something is to use in the above calculator.  You can do a search if you want to find something specific, too!  You can also check the hyperspace lanes that are nearest any given planet. - Black Cat’s Hyperspace travel times is another good place to start to get the chart above for basic travel times and an overview of some of the things that can affect travel time. THINGS THAT CAN AFFECT TRAVEL TIMES: - The quality of your hyperdrive engine.  The better quality your engine is, the faster you’ll get there.  The above travel times are calculated based on a 1x multiplier, but if you have a crappier hyperdrive, your time is going take significantly longer. - Whether or not there is a hyperspace lane that has been cleared for a continuous journey and all objects cleared out of the way.  These are incredibly valuable to own the rights to/have access to. - How much stuff (planets. stars, asteroids, nebulae, etc.) is in your way, since you can’t travel in a straight line, you can’t go through stuff without getting exploded.  This is why hyperspace routes are so incredibly valued, because you can travel much more quickly and safely on pre-established routes.  (It’d be a really bad idea to try to plot your own course because celestial drift or unknown/unmarked celestial objects would be all over the place.) TRADE ROUTES/HYPERSPACE LANES THAT ARE AVAILABLE: These are the major ones, though, there are plenty of smaller ones that you could also use, but wouldn’t be as extensive or possibly as safe as these: - Nexus Route (Canon + Legends) [x] - Unknown placement, but it was a major route that connected Republic and Separatist spaces, this is the one that Even Piell died to get the coordinates for after he told his half to Ahsoka. - Rimma Trade Route (Canon + Legends) [x] - Notable for connecting to Sullust and Eriadu. - Perlemian Trade Route (Canon + Legends) [x] - Notable for connecting to Felucia and Taanab. - Hydian Way (Canon + Legends) [x] - Notable for connecting to Malastare and Yavin. - Corellian Run (Canon + Legends) [x] - Notable for connecting to Coruscant, Ryloth, Corellia, and Christophsis - Corellian Trade Spine (Canon + Legends) [x] - Notable for connecting to Corellia, Duro, and Hosnian Prime.  It intersected with the Rimma Trade Route in the Inner Rim and with the Hydian way in the Outer Rim territories. CONCLUSIONS: The above travel times should factor in hyperspace lanes in the calculations, as well as which ones may be close together but require going slower or making more stops because it’s more densely packed in the Deep Core, where there are a lot of stars.  Whereas, out in the Outer Rim, there’s less you have to navigate around so you can just zip through more quickly. BONUS: - Have a Legends map of Republic Space vs Separatist Space vs Hutt Space, to give you an idea of where it would be safe to travel and where it wouldn’t be. - Bigger version of the (Legends) Hyperspace lane map via Wookieepedia.

Psychometry, also known as Sense Echo, was the Force ability of acquiring information about people or events associated with an object solely by touching it. Whoever used that ability received input from sight, sound, and emotions.

Okay, so, here’s the thing that everyone should remember when it comes to writing comics or books or short stories or animating whatever it is you’re creating that involves making words for fictional people:
Every character ever created is a Mary Sue.
Every. Single. One.
Why?
Because every single character ever created is an expression of that creator’s wishful dreaming, imagination, and desires. That’s what a Mary Sue is: wishful creativity.
Every character to ever exist is a Mary Sue.
Especially Batman.

do you ever just think about how wild star wars are politically.
like, there is the neoliberalism of the old republic, with the textbook neo-marxist core-periphery model of the greater galaxy.
then there are the jedi, which are an enormously ancient and powerful institution that benefits from and enables the republican-corporate structure, but refuses to take direct involvement in its policy,
this leaves an enormous power vacuum which is happily filled by the super secret red glowstick cult of the sith.
and then dooku drags the jedi from his weird neoreactionary hereditary aristocracy ground, which is still somehow more refreshing.
same thing goes for the separatist confederacy, which is mostly a network of megacorporations and planets dependent upon them, which are somehow a less stiffening alternative for many.
and then there is grievous, ventress and others from worlds existing outside the dominant framework of republican politics, but ravaged by capitalism and conflict and stripped of an identity beyond their utility, becoming the eventual wildcards.
the entire worlds like mandalore, powerful and prominent enough to be of weight on the galactic scene, but ultimately uninterested in the galactic politics as framed by the republic, because their domestic problems are more pressing.
what ever the hell is going on in the hutt space and underworld, raw capitalism functioning outside the state system
then there is the extremely militarized administrative structure of the empire, which drives itself to autocanibalistic destruction trying to keep all of the above under control.
pockets of limited autonomy exist under the empire, mostly in places whose established hierarchical administrative system allows for easier management.
the super secret red glowstick cult of the sith becomes even more secret, as things do within the mechanism of authoritarian states, which creates another vacuum, as their power is not backed up by ideological representation.
our beloved farmboy goes to pick up some power converters from the toshi station, and stumbles upon the said ideological vacuum with a blue glowstick in his hand.
the resistance, which is the oddest mix of generational royalty unhappy with the empire taking over the power they have over their individual planets, and straight up space anarchists from the worlds previously disfranchised by the republic and bombed by the empire.
the resistance politicizes the jedi teaching as the core of old republican values, going off them as their platform (may the force be with you), even as the old jedi order pointedly stayed away from policymaking.
the sequel trilogy, which refuses to address any of this.

For a moment, Vader allowed himself to imagine a future with his son. He imagined Luke as his apprentice - I would teach him everything - and as his partner - he would keep me strong! There would be no rivalry or secrets between them. With their bond of blood and shared power, they would be the greatest of Sith Lords.
We would be invincible.

SOURCE. - I’m just posting it here as an aid and taking no credit.
Galactic Standard Time Measurement
60 Seconds = 1 minute
60 minutes = 1 hour
24 hours = 1 day
Galactic Standard Calendar
5 days = 1 week
7 weeks = 1 month
35 days = 1 month
368 days = 1 year
10 months + 3 Fete (Festival) weeks + 3 holidays = 1 year
Fete/Festival Weeks
New Year Fete Week = first five days of the new year (takes place before the first month)
Festival of Life =  five days between the sixth and seventh months. It was marked by parties, get-togethers, and gift-giving.
Festival of Stars =five days between the ninth and tenth months of the year that celebrates interstellar space travel. It was marked by vacations to other worlds most often.
Days of the Week
Primeday (first day of the week)
Centaxday (second day)
Taungsday (third day)
Zhellday (fourth day)
Benduday (fifth/last day of the week)
The Galactic Standard Calendar is based on the luno-solar calendar of Coruscant (from before the official founding of the Empire). It is the ‘standard’ in both the Republic and the Empire for basic measurements. However, there are many, many variations for various species, planets, etc. This is just the ‘standard’ used; similar to measurements of weight, etc.
Basically, this is not the ‘only calendar’ but the one used most often by governments, the military, etc. to be the ‘standard’. I thought it might be useful for people writing or roleplaying in the Star Wars galaxies to have a rough idea.
NOTE: There is mention in some sources of a 12 month/368 day calendar, but it doesn’t mention length of weeks, months, etc. other than ‘30-31 days’ so basically seems to be a ‘real life calendar’. I’m not 100% sure which is considered ‘canon’ so I choose to list the one that was a bit more ‘different’ for fun.

GAR
So I decided to sit down and try to make sense of the GAR and its many divisions…..many days ago. It has been a massive undertaking, lol. But here’s what I’ve got, for anyone else who’s also interested in using this for worldbuilding.
Shoutout to @themikeymonster for listening (so to speak) while I went through my thought process for this.
This is the basic structure of the GAR:
Tumblr media
This is what Wookieepedia says about the Sector Armies:
Tumblr media
The 2nd was led by Mace
The 3rd army often reinforced the 12th and was the reserve unit for the Mid Rim
The 4th army is led by Mundi and reinforced the 13th; was known as the Outer Rim Sector Army later
Most of the 5th army was transferred to more active battlefields, since that covers the Deep Core; only a skeleton force remained there
The 6th had repair yards and training camps
The 7th supported the 5th and conducted secret scouting missions beyond the frontier
The 8th saw lots of intense fighting and was reinforced by many of the reserves
The 12th was charged with invading some of the Separatist strongholds in its area
The 13th defended Kamino; it included the Hutt territory but there weren’t a lot of forces deployed to those areas; it was reinforced by the 4th and 14th
The 15th was a reserve force primarily
The 16th was mostly defensive and was meant to be able to move Coreward if necessary
The 17th reinforced the 18th
The 18th was under the command of Tarkin (who worked with Piell)
I’m throwing the rest of this under a cut because it’s long.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed this but, despite all that stuff about being the Guardians of Peace, the Jedi sure love war. Not as an institution, mind you, but the individual members love fighting. Seriously, look at how jazzed they all are in the Clone Wars. Oh, some of them find it super traumatizing (looking at you, Barriss), but most of them are grinning like loons as they run around stabbing things. And it’s not just Anakin…and Ahsoka…and Obi-Wan. Kit Fisto’s having a blast in the Water Wars arc. Master Mundi is super excited to be using flamethrowers during “Landing at Point Rain.” Even wee Caleb Dume is having the time of his life hanging out with his new army buds and wrecking shit.
So, I wondered, why do Jedi love violence so damn much, and then it occurred to me. It’s the only time they’re allowed to express their anger, fear, etc. They’ve spent their whole lives bottling it up and now they can just let it lose. Not enough to go Dark Side, obviously, but just enough to get out some of the excess aggression. Just take the edge off, as it were.
