Hi! Do you know any sites for learning Dutch, in Dutch? I know a boy who wants to learn Dutch, but he doesn't speak English and all the learning sites are in English. I hope you can help!
i don’t really know, sorry. anyone else any clue?
maybe he could try watching dutch children’s tv? or even kids movies, most stuff aimed at kids gets dubbing here. besides that, simple books, books he’s already read in another language.
sorry i couldn’t be of much help, hope he stumbles upon some resources that work for him!

Open syllables have long vowels.
When only one vowel is written in a closed syllable, the vowel sounds short.

The vowel: a
a has a short sound in closed syllables!
that means, if they are followed by one or more consonants at the end of a syllable or word then they will sound short: de dag, de bal, het gras
a has a long sound in open syllables!
that means, when a single letter a is at the end of a syllable or word, it is pronounced like a long, drawn-out vowel sound: dragen, de dagen, de lanen
By the way, aa always gives the long, drawn-out sound. Always.
gaan, staan, de laan
