Xi Jinping: Promote the healthy development of my country’s new generation of artificial intelligence (AI)

The Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee held its ninth collective study session on the afternoon of October 31, focusing on the current status and future trends of artificial intelligence (AI). At the meeting, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, stressed that artificial intelligence (AI) is the core driving force of the new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation. Accelerating the development of a new generation of artificial intelligence (AI) is of great strategic significance for my country to occupy a favorable position in the global scientific and technological competition and seize the opportunities of the upcoming scientific and technological and industrial revolution. Xi Jinping pointed out that we must deeply realize the urgency of accelerating the development of artificial intelligence (AI), strengthen leadership, make strategic plans, clarify goals and tasks, consolidate the technical foundation, promote the deep integration of artificial intelligence (AI) with the economy and society, and ensure the healthy development of my country's new generation of artificial intelligence (AI).

At this study session, Gao Wen, a professor at Peking University and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, made a detailed report on the current status and prospects of artificial intelligence (AI) and put forward relevant insights and suggestions.

When presiding over the study session, Xi Jinping pointed out that artificial intelligence (AI), as a key technology leading this round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation, has a strong "head goose effect" and can lead the innovation and development of a series of technologies and industries. Thanks to the promotion of emerging technologies such as mobile Internet, big data, supercomputing, sensor networks and brain science, the research and development and application of artificial intelligence (AI) have shown new characteristics such as deep learning, cross-border integration, human-machine collaboration, group intelligence and openness, and autonomous control. Artificial intelligence (AI) has had a profound and extensive impact on global economic development, social progress and the international political and economic landscape. Accelerating the development of a new generation of artificial intelligence (AI) is a key strategy for my country to seize the initiative in international scientific and technological competition, promote industrial upgrading and improve productivity.

Xi Jinping emphasized that the research and development of artificial intelligence (AI) is complex and challenging in an interdisciplinary manner.
