Got another joyous message today, only logged on for a short while though. Here's the good news:   Once again that marvellous image was displayed on my screen, 6 migrants; 4 children and a fish dissector and a stonecrafter.

Dwarven Fortress of Uber Dwarfness No.9.1

A new look at things! I recently stumbled upon a fascinating programme called Stonesense that allows you to view (And even play) Dwarf Fortress in 3d, although actually playing it in 3d is derpy as you have to input the commands onto DF and watch them on Stonesense. Dwarven Fortress of Uber Dwarfness No.9

Little pockets of progress everywhere! Well, the storeroom floor has been dug out but it's overflowing with that annoying stone. The dwarves have begun construction of 2 sections of what will be the curtain wall but currently are not finished. And finally I'v begun to expand the bedroom quarter to cater for the new migrants. The fortress has become more multi-cellular than single cell and things are happening all over the place.

Jumping straight back into the cavernous depths of the mountains, we join our dwarves as they've dug down onto what will become the store room floor, with lots of  rooms for assorted kinds of items. The the dwarves coffers with be over flowing with all that absolutely useless rock as this level of the mountain is solid stone.

A Brief Respite

The dwarves are resting from a long Spring of digging, chopping, building and devouring any sort of food we had. An evening of sleep and other games ensues for me. G'night!

Dwarven Fortress of Uber Dwarfness No.7

BRILLIANT NEWS! Some migrants have come to join our humble fortress, 10 to be exact. They're now huddled warmly in the dining room awaiting allocation of bedrooms, jobs and silly dwarven names like Obok Koganrabed and Adil Ecemurvard. The only skills most of them have are farming and tanning, but 6 of them are children and can be taught new skills. - A photo of some of the migrants in the dining hall

Dwarven Fortress of Uber Dwarfness No.6

PROGRESS! The dwarves have been hard at work fleshing out the empty rooms and beginning the construction of all of the industries. Urist Likotedos (The mason) has constructed two masonry workshops opposite the carpentry ones, a trade depot has been built in the cross junction of the main corridors, one of our farmers has built a Still in the south western workshop room and Mistém Onamúshrir (The Craftsdwarf) has created a craftsdwarf's workshop in the same room.  Progress:

Dwarven Fortress of Uber Dwarfness No.5

The weather has finally cleared! Now our precious dwarves can lap up all of that unwholesome vitamin D. I'v converted the large chamber to the south of the workshop rooms into a stockroom and dug out the first 8 bedrooms of our fortress, just to the south of the bedrooms I have dug out what will become the Dining Room, Meeting Hall and all round gathering chamber for our dwarves.

Dwarven Fortress of Uber Dwarfness No.4

The miners have dug out the fortress-to-be and I'v had the farmers construct farm plots in the two rooms near the main entrance, I also assigned them to plant Plump Helmets all year round as they can be brewed and ate and I have more of those seeds than any other. The woodcutter has constructed carpentry workshops in one of the workshop rooms and the fortress has begun to move underground.

On the precipice just below the one in which the wagon is parked on, I'v assigned some trees for the woodcutter to fell and have set out the layout of the first section of my fortress for the miners to dig.  Fortress layout:

Dwarven Fortress of Uber Dwarfness No.2

We arrive in our embark location and the dwarves have rather cleverly stopped the wagon on the edge of a high mountain and the map is still covered in snow from the tail end of winter.

Dwarven Fortress of Uber Dwarfness No.1.1

All the world gen and embark location choosing done, I am jumping straight in and using the embark profile which comes pre-made in the LazyNewbPack (http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=59026.0) which is 2Miners/Woodcutter/Mason/Crafter and Broker/2Farmers. But on my save there were no iron anvils available so I spent the extra points on food and seeds.  Embark Items:

The time draws near for me to start a new fortress and set out on another adventure of -UBER DWARFNESS- it is my decision that I will chronicle my misadventures in this new world. And so begins our story.
