The Future
In the future I do plan on becoming more familiar with JavaScript and Jquery as I found it so interesting to learn, it really broadens your options when creating a website and such simple changes like the parallax scrolling can really make a website much more dynamic. As for my website, it most definitely could do with more work and planning. I would continue to play with the colour scheme and the aesthetic in general as I am still not 100% on the red, grey and white. I would also use research that linked a little more to help build more of a case for the problem, for example: more data about how it is a growing problem. Overall I really did enjoy making this website and learning about JavaScript and Jquery.

Final User Interface
After completing the Javascript and Jquery I went back over my website and got rid of all the “Flat Design” colours I have in there from my first aesthetic idea as the colours looked fantastic together but none of them worked well when spread out and scattered. I narrowed the palette down to the grey, red and white which i think is a much cleaner approach. As for the layout, I believe my website is easily navigated through and the parallax scrolling works well with the layered containers aesthetic. The website is clearly titled and although I said I was not going to do a box of text, I did a brief introduction to the problem as i felt it was needed. To make the text easier to read, I adjusted the line height, text size and close a clean san serif typeface.

UI update -
I am unsatisfied with the colours and may make the colour palette simpler.

As I continued to use the previous style guide I found that it wasnt achieving as much as I wanted it too so I chose two of the flat design colours and worked with them and put in a grey background as well as changing the font from Georgia to “Montserrat” which is a Google font.

This is a design concept I did on illustrator. I am trying to replicate the flat design using drop shadows and larger text and lots of white space. The colours I pulled from color.adobe.com and i felt they best matched the Flat Design aesthetic. The typeface I have used is Georgia, I originally wanted to use Bodoni72 but I had difficulties using the @face-font tag as the typeface was not being used everywhere I wanted.

When beginning the second assignment I started with my research. I found it really easy to find lots of information out there about children and their usage of the Internet as it is a large and rapidly growing problem that effects a wide spread of people all over the world. I viewed many websites in which had copious amounts of statistics and texts which i found so dreary to read. This is where i decided that I was not going to have masses of text on my website. I pulled statistics from different websites and narrowed it down to those i thought to be the most hard hitting and straight to the point.
