Leaning over the table a tad, the psychiatrist flashed that ever-hungry smirk of his. She was such a boon to him these days- pleasant company, good conversation, stimulating personality- it had been such a tediously long time since he last had someone in his presence that could keep his interest like this. But here she was, beautiful and perfect and.. here. With him.

"That said, I would like your help on an upcoming project. I'm working on an experimental serum to induce suggestibility in conscious test subjects, and I was wondering if you might be able to harvest a certain psychoactive venom for me."

She sighed, hand to her temple. Of course that was his response, anything for his main objective of the moment, she thought with a mental eyeroll…though it is a rather commendable attribute, motivation and ambition are good qualities despite what he does with it.

She took the glass from the man, bringing it gently to her lips. The contrast was so stark coming from the senses of a woman who steals cheap corner store wine, Edgar always did spring for the good stuff. She thought on what he said for a moment while she sipped, for someone as antisocial and paranoid about people as Joan is, had to speak something good to Edgar’s character no matter how disturbing he can be sometimes.

“As long as you don’t turn that sinister mind on me Ed.” She replied, half serious half joking as she went in for another sip.
