you know things were looking up for a second and now it's all crashing down again, I didn't get the museum admin job I was in the last round of interviews for. the restaurant I started at isn't being clear about how many hours per week I'll be getting. I'm not going to be able to move in with my friend like I planned. I won't be able to stay at the place I'm crashing much longer. almost definitely moving back in with my parents, which I guess isn;'t the worst situation but I've just put so much time, work, energy, and like my will to live into attempting to become independent because things with them are still complicated. fuck, college was NOT worth it

"New Yorkers bite more people than sharks annually" is an excellent example of how statistics can be misleading. Like yeah no shit, do you have any idea how rare it is to even encounter a shark in the wild? They're not exactly urban animals. I'm pretty damn sure that if sharks were living in big cities like pigeons, just strolling down the streets looking for food scraps, you'd see a lot more news stories about New Yorkers biting them.

Can I be a hater tonight? I genuinely dont believe fanfiction is inherently feminist or queer… or even as transformative as people make it out to be. It is a cultural phenomenon and I would say an overall positive one, but it does a damn good job at replicating (and reinforcing) the power dynamics and social superstructures of the culture it originated on and exists with— originally white USA suburbia, currently spanning the whole of the global Internet, which is heavily USA-centric!

i do think it’s a little bit funny when people are so ready to talk about “comphet” and also have “radfems dni” in the bio. like do y’all know who wrote compulsory heterosexuality and the lesbian existence?? don’t get me wrong, i have my critiques of adrienne rich (her support of janice raymond is indefensible), but she (as a radical feminist) also made really important contributions to feminist theory. i feel like i’m constantly witnessing crazy cognitive dissonance where people will espouse a complete rejection of radical feminism and a total equation of the entire diverse school of thought with TERFism whilst simultaneously leaning directly on radical feminist thought for feminist/cultural analysis. do people just not know where the words they are saying come from? lol
