I have something to say and people may or may not agree, however in light of what I have been seeing on my feed I will say it.
I think professional ballerinas need to stop commenting on the technique of dancers in the competition world (I am not talking about basic technique like, pointed toes, straight legs, etc). The technique standards in the ballet world are so much higher than a ânormalâ competition world for a reason. When a dancer is focused primarily on ballet their technique is going to be better than those who have a wider range of focus. Majority of dancers in the ânormalâ completion world donât want to be ballerinas and therefore are not going to focus 100% of their time on making sure their ballet technique flawless. Obviously there are dancers out there who have the technique to compete at ballet competitions like YAGP, however, their training would differ from those who do not.
I am just sick of seeing professional ballet dancers on social media reacting to a 10&under jazz dance and picking out the most obscure technical things to comment about.
I think you were on to something with your earlier post about this new wave of outrage toward modern comp jazz being tied to right-wing "protect the children" outrage, because look at @balletandbalance 's comments on tik tok. It's giving satanic panic.
these were just a few of the comments on her third most recent video. there were nearly 2k comments so i didnât even scroll through half of them. i feel like this tells you everything you need to know
As we get closer to TDA I wanna recognize the 10 year anniversary of the 2014 best dancers. First up is Keanu Uchida from Leeming Dance Works. He won the senior male title in New York. Since then he has been a great advocate for SA victims in the dance world and he recently graduated with a BS from the university of Toronto
Hereâs the server link: https://discord.gg/MNKWFedu
Itâs a place that will (hopefully) be a great place to chat comp dance, comp ballet and just to chat with other fandom members! There should be some watch-alongs, server events and just general chances to meet more people with similar interests.
Also still looking for mods, please dm me (_vixifi) if youâre interested. Modding info and mod commands in the server is very well explained, so feel free to send me a dm, even if youâre unsure about modding. Iâm more than happy to train up people with little modding experience!
The server has a decent verification system and pretty strong rules due to the content of the server, so members donât need to worry about creeps! Hope to see some people soon! :)
ive been wondering the same thing about gail bowman, photographers be like âyea im a photographerâ and its just photos women and girls in bras and bikinis
Nooo tell me what happened please donât gatekeep your anon :(
it was about gail bowman photography and like the pics of dancers strictly in bras
About the song choice with Dyllan and Shannon, I just donât think people would have questioned it if it was Molly who used it. She has used plenty of songs that are cultural appropriation as well as created many dances that are culturally inappropriate and nobody bats an eye. I know theyâre 2 different scenarios but I canât help but feel people are only doing this because they are bitter Dyllan left.
tbh anon, I definitely think there would also be uproar if molly did ice cream man, Iâve seen people on here criticize her combo music choices many times for reasons such as curse words or lyric implications so no i donât think molly would be exempt, unfortunately dance teachers kinda(really) suck at choosing music! mine included lmao
but the criticism about ice cream man isnt towards dyllan, its towards shannon for using that song?
the criticism towards dyllan ever since she left P21 is so weird. nitpicking every single thing. there's really nothing wrong with ice cream man being played at dance comps. in fact I think its a good song considering how prevalent predatory behaviour is in these dance competitions. unless y'all are personally attacked by it for god knows what reason.
