Your emotions are real, but they aren't necessarily accurate.
A trigger can make you feel abandoned or attacked, even if you aren’t. Validate the feeling, then question the story it’s telling. This can help you take back control of your reactions.
Reminding myself that feelings aren’t facts has saved me a few times.

stop being ableist towards those with adhd. this includes mocking adhd symptoms or saying adhd/its symproms are a sign of "decline" or whatever the fuck

Instead of this whole "unlearning shame" bullshit, we should really be teaching people to distinguish between when you feel bad because you genuinely did wrong and when you're just beating yourself up for no good reason.

The solution to ableism isn't for me to "stop calling myself disabled", it's for everyone to stop treating "disabled" as a bad word

if someone is talking about how much they love their parents do not jump in and start venting about your issues with your parents. if someone is venting about their issues with their parents do not jump in and start talking about how much you love your parents. peace and love amen swag city

sometimes when I’m being especially self deprecating and convinced no one likes me I have to tell myself “you’re being goob. you are being goob right now”

this is going to make me sound like a bitch but if a disabled person says “no thanks I don’t need your help, I’ve got this” maybe don’t continue to insist on helping them? many of us have accumulated various strategies for doing things ourselves and your “help” will probably just get in our way. especially if that help includes getting in our personal space/touching our aids/etc. please just leave us to it!

It honestly scares me that so many people (even supposed leftists!) think the "solution to mental illness" is more psych wards, more surveillance of the mentally ill and more forced/coerced treatment as if the goal is to somehow punish and train the mental illness out of us instead of improving our circumstances and rights in any real way

You can't claim to defend bodily autonomy if that doesn't include defending people's right to decide to partake in behaviors you consider to be causing them harm. You can in fact support people in making safer choices for themselves without denying them basic autonomy in the name of preventing every behavior you consider to be harmful and bad.
