Violet didn’t hear anything but the lights and her own footsteps echoing down the path. She could almost hear herself breathe.

Normally she loved quiet. A moment of peace, where she could hear herself think.

This was different. This wasn’t quiet.

This was silence. A dead silence that fell over like a blanket of ash, and just as suffocating. She could feel it worm its way into her head, her throat, her nose, her eyes.

No matter how much she coughed, how hard she breathed, how much she blinked, that sensation of being smothered and invaded wouldn’t leave.

She filled the silence with a scream. A scream of frustration, of helplessness and pain.

Why won’t this go away? Why are all of these sensations tormenting her like a long-dead poltergeist?

Another scream.

It didn’t go away.

She screamed again.

It wouldn’t go away.

Suffocated Flames, Closed Dam

There are days when something makes me mad, So mad I want to shout it to the rooftops Days where it's so maddening that a fire burns inside, That my voice needs to explode over it.

But I find these things when it is most inconvenient For me to scream, for me to shout. I'm in class, or I'm at home, or I don't have a place that works As a vessel to let out my frustrations.

So I decide that until I can find someplace safe I'll keep it in. Put a lid on top of it. The flames burn my insides until they're blackened But I can't let it out until I get someplace safe.

It takes minutes, maybe even an hour, But eventually I go someplace where I can shout to the heavens, I get ready, I put everything down, And I remove the lid to let the flames blaze like an inferno.

But nothing's under the lid. The fire's gone out. My chest is scorched from inside, but the flame has died. The hellfire has gone out before it could devastate. Nothing is left for me to kindle, it's all gone.

I try to put some tinder on the flame, fan it back up, But nothing I do can heat it up. That explosion I've fantasized Has passed before it could explode. Now nothing is left in me to have the energy for rage.

I hear stories of people holding it in until it "pops", And when it pops they leave a field of destruction in their wake. I hear it happens when you stuff it down, so tell me Why when I do it, it smolders to the bottom and dies.

Sometimes I wish I could hold everything in, Wait for the fateful day that it explodes and I crash And burn on the pavement and turn the forests to ashes, But how I am keeps me from that moment, that cathartic pop.

I've seen firsthand how it's like when someone explodes And months of hidden feelings gush out, A flood that destroys everything it touches, And I've felt what it's like to be broken and beaten by the torrent.

But I can only imagine the pop and how it must feel For the lid, from full it goes down to half in an instant. A hole must've been punched in mine, since I can't Seem to hold it in until it explodes everywhere.

How do I do that? How do I plug that hole That keeps me from spiraling down, from going insane? How do I keep my emotions from trickling out, so I can witness What a release it must be when it fills to the brim and gives out?

I know asking for this ability is a bad thing, That it can destroy everything that hurts and everything that cares, But how cathartic it must be, To stuff it in till it's on the brink and let it all out in one blast.

Help Rem/Pixiel afford a Wheelchair!

I asked before looking for advice on getting a wheelchair - the best advice I've gotten so far is to open up my own fundraiser on GoFundMe to help me afford it! So here's my story explaining why I need the help;

Hi! My name is Rem / Pixiel. Some of you might already know me as the person who made the first Old Tumblr fix after the layout change! I haven't talked too much about myself online, so for those of you who don't know me let me talk about my health a little bit; I have Hypermobile-Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, Arrhythmia, A floppy heart valve, balance issues, Suspected POTs & MCAS - and a myriad of other smaller comorbidities to go with it. I have daily pain in my wrists, hands, knees, neck, shoulders and hips. Basically all over my body! I tire easily due to my heart problem and have to take extra care not to injure myself. I’m currently someone who uses a cane (a really fab looking one!) but while it helps me get around the house and to and from the shop a few doors down the road - going beyond that around town often results in me having a lot of pain in my hips and knees, usually leaving me unable to do anything for the next couple of weeks - struggling to move around the house and get things done due to the pain. This is something I’ve put off for a long time, but I think it’s time I got a wheelchair. Unfortunately, as I am on benefits barely covering the cost of living, this is not something I can afford on my own; especially now that the government is trying to change the rules and make it more difficult for disabled people to afford anything or put us on vouchers. I need a wheelchair that is light enough for me to move and fold, one that isn't too bulky, as my rented house is not wheelchair accessible - as well as being a powered chair, as with my wrist pain I'd unlikely be able to use a manual chair without injury. After doing my own research I really love the idea of the "Monarch Carbon Lite Powerchair" though I'm currently working with a mobility provider to find the perfect chair for me! If you can help me pay towards my new Wheelchair I will be incredibly thankful! Please share and help me be able to afford it - so I can go out and about and live my life without injury and pain holding me back!

Basically what I was SUPPOSED to ask is what authors you think Geronimo would like besides the “obvious” selection. I think he’d like PG Wodehouse (PG Wodemouse?) cause I can draw a lot of parallels between old Geronimo Stilton and Bertram Wilberforce Wooster.

Hmmm I dunno much about classics authors besides the "contemporaries"-- I don't really go out of my way to read classics ironically enough haha, and the ones I'm into miiiggghhtttt not be Geronimo's type of book content (Edgar Allan Poe, Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre)
