My AC is out and it’s so hot in my house that most of the cats are either at the clinic or at my mom’s house so they don’t get too hot. Petunia gets to stay though because she is the smartest girl in the world and has planted herself directly in front of the portable AC unit and hasn’t moved

somewhere out there right now is a kid with curly hair being raised by people who have wavy hair at best and those people are giving them 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner and telling them to dry brush it. and that kid is gonna spend all of middle school and high school hating their hair and moping over the flat iron. they're being told right now that if they don't dry-brush their curl pattern into oblivion every morning it means they're unkempt and gross even though they naturally have the kind of ringlets that a thousand bridezillas would commit horrible murders for every june. it's happening right now it's an absolute epidemic and a tragedy every time

like you clock the red flag in real time, you name your inner child’s need, you breathe through the trigger—and then still spiral bc someone took too long to text back or you accidentally caught feelings for a walking trauma response

self-awareness doesn’t save you from feelings. it just lets you watch them unfold like, “ah yes. here comes the emotional devastation. completely understood. totally irrational. unstoppable.”

you can be wise and still messy. evolved and still yearning. a tragic little sea slug of consciousness, floating toward the light and bumping into rocks anyway.

Thinking about how my edgy 13 year old self ruined my high school reputation. And how I got a kid to drop out of my 9th grade algebra and then the school.

I can't stop thinking about this. When I was in 7th and 6th grade, I was such a freaking edge lord!! I remember being like a serious outcast, I was very openly lesbian (I now know I'm pansexual), and people in my school aren't and bully you out right. But they will tease you. Sneakily. Or they think they're sneaky. Not when I have ADHD and overthink it all!!

I would literally tell people I would hit them with a bat, a brick, I threw my sandals at one boy... 3 almost 4 years ago, those guys never let it go!! They still act scared of me! It's terrible acting, though.

Now, there was one kid who didn't hide it by any means! I'm a bit overweight, not overly, but just a bit around my stomach and thighs. I am working on it, though. This kid was short. I'm pretty tall, 5'8 "at the time, and currently 5'10" to 5'11". I am a girl, pushing 6 feet in short. He was short, like, not midget but short. He was also a complete asshole. Remember how I'm a bit chubby? I would come to my algebra class, sit in my seat just behind his, and he'd just make animal noises. You probably know the ones. This went on for a couple of weeks. One day. I just had enough! This is the second semester. He does the barn animal impression like always, and I looked right at him, straight face.

"Oh wow, I'm so glad you finally found your spirit animal." A brief pause as I looked out the window before turning back to him, he looked kinda shocked as if I wasn't gonna clap back eventually."Or are you just impersonating your mom?" Childish, i know, it was 9th grade, I was tired. He literally missed exams and my classmate just told me this year (10th grade) that he straight up moved schools after my comment!!

I feel like this is an unpopular opinion, but more people should read incomplete/unfinished/in-progress fanfics.

I've noticed this huge trend where creators on tiktok and tumblr who will be explaining how to use Archive Of Our Own to new users and they always say "and make sure to scroll down and click completed only" or how people will go out of their way to mention they only read completed fics 'because they were traumatized when they forgot to check the dates and didn't realize this fic hadn't been updated since 2012'.

The thing is - I think by not engaging with and/or actively avoiding writer's WIPs readers are potentially adding to the aggregate of abandoned works. Now this obviously isn't the case for all abandoned fics, anything from major life events, to loss of interest, to getting busy can be a reason for a fic getting abandoned - but at least on some level I just know that writers are quitting while they're ahead when they aren't garnering any response or feedback because reading WIPs has become unpopular. If you're worried about reading something that hasn't been updated since 2012 then you can use the date updated function to sort out old fics.

Anyways, support your favorite fanfic writers by engaging with their WIPs.
