What is your say on Early age education on LGBTQ?
Gender identity means being male or female. LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) are sometimes categorized as a third gender. Education Sectors responses to LGBT violence addresses the way in which education system works to create safe learning environment for LGBT students. It helps to understand and focuses on diverse expression of gender, where it is expressed in different ways from binary models (Masculine and feminine). The tiny south Asian country of Bhutan is best known for its concept of GNH -Gross National Happiness. Bhutan is a small and marginalized community, unlike other countries, issues of LGBT is not discussed openly. LGBTQ population has experienced little persecution or violence, them again most people in Bhutan does not understand LBGTQ. GALE- The Global Alliance For LGBT Education, It is a learning community focusing on education about LGBT issues, where it is open to anyone actively involved in education about LGBT issues.

National Education Policy of Bhutan
In Bhutan, whatever you are or whoever you are, you will never be left without education. In National Education Policy of Bhutan, the right to education is emphasised. Royal Government of Bhutan, provides free education to children from Pre-Primary to class 10. And if you perform well, you get scholarships and opportunities. In Bhutan, education are provided to the Monk body, children’s and elders. Our Monarchs also emphasis on the quality of education. Without much restrictions, many people get proper education. For those elders who missed their education due to circumstances, government give Non-formal Education.
Due to financial problems, some students drop out of schools however some NGOs support their education. “As I serve my country, I have a number of priorities. Number one on my list is education. Education is empowering- it’s a social equalizer and it facilitates self-discovery, which leads to realizing one’s full potential. Good education gives you confidence, good judgement, virtuous disposition, and the tools to achieve happiness successfully. A good school gives a child a fair shot at success and ensures that a person’s achievement in life will not be predetermined by his or her race, parentage and social connections” - His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyeĺ Wangchuck, 2014.

Concepts we will discuss:
1. National Education Policy of Bhutan
In our, wherever you are or whoever you are, you will never be left without education. In National Education Policy of Bhutan, the right to education is emphasised. Royal Government of Bhutan, provides free education to children from Pre-Primary to class 10. And if you perform well, you get scholarships and opportunities. In Bhutan, education are provided to the Monk body, children's and elders. Our Monarchs also emphasis on the quality of education. Without much restrictions, many people get proper education. For those elders who missed their education due to circumstances, government give Non-formal Education. Due to financial problems, some students drop out of schools however some NGOs support their education. "As I serve my country, I have a number of priorities. Number one on my list is education. Education is empowering- it's a social equalizer and it facilitates self-discovery, which leads to realizing one's full potential. Good education gives you confidence, good judgement, virtuous disposition, and the tools to achieve happiness successfully. A good school gives a child a fair shot at success and ensures that a person's achievement in life will not be predetermined by his or her race, parentage and social connections" - His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyeĺ Wangchuck, 2014.
2. Second Sexism:
𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙙𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙠 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙨𝙚𝙭𝙞𝙨𝙢 𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙩 𝙈𝙚𝙣? 𝘿𝙤 𝙬𝙚 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙞𝙩 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙤𝙪𝙨?
While the manifestation of sexism against women is largely acknowledged, only few consider that even man are victimized. For instance, women are often exempted from military line up while man are forced to risk injury or other repurcussion. Similarly, father os less like to win the custody of a child following divorce.
Having understood the concept of second sexism, do you think second sexim exist in educational institutions? This kind of sexism is not taken seriously even by people who oppose sex discrimination. Second sexism in education, together with obvious sexrole stereotypes, make male students face more punishment in school than female students..
This isn't something we enrolled to learn. But we somehow get socialize in such environment. While talking about socialization, early socialization plays huge role in shaping our developing mind. So, how about we teach our younger generation better?
3. Why we gender-stereotype jobs?
If a men is jobless and is a home maker, everyone questions him? People don’t accept those men without jobs. They have to either have a decent job or work outside home. Men are made to earn, be tough and feed his family. The stereotypical notion that men should choose jobs which requires strength, and women should choose jobs which include nursing such as teacher, nurse, social workers and gardener/florist is still here. All of this happens because of the concept of masculinity, feminity, gender roles and reproduction.
The main source of such notion roots from the process of socialization. Family and peers as an institution teaches their children the difference between men and women. Gender roles are assigned by such institution which eventually leads to domestic violence and sexual abuse. Young boys are repeatedly reminded that strong boy don’t cry while girls are expected to wait for their prince charming to save them. The very reason has caused many problems among man-woman relationship s. Therefore, if we change the notion that men and women should choose different jobs, there will be equality and equity. So let’s support both men and women in their choice of career or jobs without any criticism.
4. Gender based Violence: What could be better with education:
GBV is violence directed against a person because of that person's gender or violence that affects persons of a particular gender disproportionately.
Violence against women is understood as a violation of human rights and a form of discrimination against women and shall mean all acts of gender-based violence that result in, or are likely to result in Physical harm and mental illness as well.
Let us reflect on why this is happening?
Do you think it would be different if we educate about gender equality since the early school?
While we are at it;
There are many different solutions that people can do to help those in need that are involved in a domestic violence relationship.
1. Always let them know that your ears are open at any time they need to talk.
2. Help them as much as possible by being respectful, patient and supportive in learning about their safety.
3. Never let them think it is their fault, keep addressing that as much as possible
YOU CAN HELP –
